👍 A taste of what's to come at the permanent location opening June '19 at Taylor and Ada. Former public housing residents will be docents. Great first hand information.

They're still under construction, but there is a terribly moving photojournalistic gallery show about a family deported from Dearborn to a ranch in impoverished rural Mexico - along with their teenage children, who are all native US citizens, and didn't even speak Spanish! - as well as a few artifacts and informational displays about the museum's subject, Public Housing in Chicago (and, to a lesser extent, beyond) . I am excited to see what they become when the full museum opens next year (2019).

I visited before Covid closure. It was an incredible exhibition and I learned so much about our city and community, resiliency and strength in unity! I look forward to visiting again!

Website says you can see the museum by appointment only, but it is not clear how the appointments are scheduled. The phone line says that exhibits are closed. I also didn’t realize this until I got there and the person who opened the door said the building wasn’t a museum, so maybe they have moved to their new location.
