A unique look into the fascinating history and culture of Lithuania. The bottom floor is filled with artifacts documenting the history and culture. The upper floor is a more contemporary account of the lives of Lithuanian, and other Baltic state, immigrants and the effects of World Wars one and two. Well worth your time if you are at all interested in the history of the region, American immigration or the World Wars.

As a descendant of Lithuanians, I have long been fascinated by Lithuanian culture and traditions. Keeping alive the many histories: the early tribes, medieval Lithuania, Vilnius as a Jewish center of scholarship, the Napolean era, the Nazis and the Soviets, and the often tough life Lithuanians faced if they emigrated - this is critical. After 20 years of interest in Lithuania, I was fortunate to be able to visit this important museum, the only one of its kind in North America. Besides exhibits on all the eras of Lithuania history, there is a large collection of art and a great children's museum. They also have the largest genealogical library outside of Lithuania.

Stanley Balzekas and the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture is a fixture in the Lithuanian community. If you're Lithuanian-American and want to check out your heritage and culture, this is surely the place!!

I only went there one time, but I found the selection of clothes and artifacts worth seeing. Some rooms had no lights though and I actually saw flames coming out of a stove that was left on (we told the manager.)

I'm grateful to this place for the care and time they have put in to curate this amazing history. The museum is small but the story is big and they hold it well. This is well worth a visit for anyone who hopes to understand more of the story of the Lithuanian people. Thank you too to the kind person who helped show me around. A true gift.

Nice museum with a lot of interesting artifacts and displays of Lithuanian history and culture. Large collection of rare books as well. The third floor Displaced Persons exhibit was very interesting.

Went to the office on the 2nd floor where I filed to see if I could get a refund on some of my tax years where the city didn't deduct. The gentleman and s nice lady where extremely helpful and polite. Really happy I went. 👍

This place is a hidden gem on the South Side and should definitely be visited more often. Is it Museum Campus worthy? Big no. But what makes this place interesting is the glimpse it gives you of Lithuanian Chicago, of which few outside that community are aware.
