🫤 Great place to workout if you want to feel exempt from racking your weights and otherwise leaving absolutely anything anywhere for others to take care of! I saw the cleaning staff hard at work in various areas of the gym, so I want to make it clear they are doing their jobs. Maybe some extra staff... Maybe some extra staff is needed to take care of the children that workout here.

This is the most poorly managed LA fitness in Chicago. I’m giving it one star because it’s the least I can rate it. I’d like to note that the janitorial staff work extremely hard to keep up with how filthy the place gets. They’re appreciated. However, this location has high traffic and the bare minimum equipment to operate as a gym. The equipment is poorly maintained. There is often not duplicate weights to complete sets and staff will tell you people steal them. Which is unfortunate but they also have no plan or take any interest in replacing equipment. All of the mats for classes are torn, ripped and look bitten. Mirrors are cracked and the “spa” (sauna/pool) is closed frequently. It’s easily the worst LA in Chicago. It’s BYOE (bring your own equipment). I provide my own mat, cable attachments and barbel cushion. For close to $800 a year this is BS.

I really signed up for the gym with the best intentions but the staff just drove me away from the gym. The schedule of the classes was supposed to increase and never did. Some teachers are really bad and don’t show up. The jacuzzi was supposed to take days to fix and it took months. The manager Carlos confirmed he canceled my membership just to find out later he didn’t and that he had to power to do so but failed to inform me on who to talk to. The front desk is always on their phone, the staff in general is always new and entitled, it screams “bad management” all over the place. And don’t get me started on the weights always missing, I literally had to buy my own! I thought it was a great idea to go to LA but honestly it was a waste of time. Two instructors are worth mentioning: Sheila and Greg. They are phenomenal and they are the only reason I stayed for a few months. Apart from them, stay away from LA fitness!

The sales rep made false promises to us that we would have access to make reservations for the racquet court for practicing tai chi and kung fu. The desk attendant (short with long dark hair) informed us that other guests reservations take priority over ours and that we should terminate our membership. She could not provide additional insight and told us to "read the fine print in the contract" . She said the signs on the racquetball court said that all racquetball activities took priority which is not true if you read the sign. We are waiting to be contacted by the management to make this right

Members if this gym steal from you and the gym. There’s no equipment here. I’ve called multiple times. And I’m being ignored. Staff just play on their phones all day. The owner must not be a good leader because he/she should be embarrassed of the quality of this gym. And the management staff and letting them just sit on their phones and not do any work. The cleaning crew will vacuum at your feet and the weights scattered everywhere. Give yourself at least ten minutes to find everything you need to use here too I’ve been to la fitness that were luxurious compared to this place. Workers and owner are lazy and will ignore your concerns. Currently looking for a new gym.

I guess it’s a decent gym. Has plenty equipment and times are good. Only thing is no one puts weights back, not the gym goers and not the staff. But this is the most cost effective gym close to me so I’ll continue to suffer through, cause honestly it’s more of an annoyance than a hinderance.

I wish I could give 0 stars but that's not an option. I visit this location quite often and usually put my items in the locker and lock it. One morning around 6:15 am I arrived at the gym. I put my purse, coat and sweater in the locker and locked it with a key. After completing my workout, I returned to the locker room only to find my lock was missing from my locker. I opened the locker and everything was still there Except for my wallet which was inside of my purse. I asked the employee if they saw anyone come in the locker room. She said no, I asked if anyone else items had been stolen. She also said No. I immediately received a notification that my credit card was being used For an unauthorized Uber ride by the thief who stole my wallet. . Strongly suggest not getting a membership at a place that can not assist in making sure your belongings are safe. I have heard from various individuals that itappears that the workers are targeting clients they assume would have higher income so they can steal their belongings and exploit their credit card ( Tamia). DO NOT BRING ANYTHING OF IMPORTANCE TO THIS Gym IT WIll BE STOLEN !!!!

Seeing a bunch of negative reviews here and thought I'd jump on. I workout 6 days a week and have been coming here for the last couple years.Nothing wrong with this gym. No it's not fancy but the people are friendly enough and there's pretty much all equipment you need for strength training. Yes, people aren't great at reracking free weights but ive found that's the case in most gyms I've gone to. My only issue is I see the trainers hanging out socializing with each other when they could do awalk through and re-rack weights but at the end of the day it's not that big of a deal. I can usually find the weights I need without a huge effort. The place is clean and I've made respectable gains over the last couple years so they must be doing something right.

I met a guy named Carlos Macias who said was the super general manager. Strange guy but was very professional and convinced me to sign up. BEST decision I’ve ever made! Staff is great, place is clean, and the dumbbells are always where they should be. Shout out to El tremendo Robert who is always smiling and ready to help when I have questions. Guy named big mike kicked my butt with a free training session but it was just what I needed! Thank you South Loop boys!

Great staff, nice big location but 90% of the treadmills have issues. I’m a long distance runner and anything over the speed of 6, the treadmills lag power and the track stops.. one time I almost feel. The unfortunate part, is that for cardio I have to go to other location ( uptown ) to work out. Please fix the treadmills.

Terrible gym for weightlifting. Barely any free weights and what is there is is haphazardly spread out everywhere as members here don’t seem to follow basic gym etiquette. Also some equipment just seems to be missing, massive ranges of dumbbells missing and multiple racks without barbells. Only gets two stars as they have a lot of modern cardio and weight machines if that’s your thing.

Cheap enough and convenient but has the absolute worst re-rack situation I've ever seen in a gym. You'll spend just as much time searching for the weights you need as you will actually using them. Also, for some reason no one flinched when a guy is randomly walking around the free-weight section without a shirt on.....

Have been working out for almost three months now. Not a single weight is at its place, not even on the racks, ever. I have never seen anybody from management stacking weight back at its place. Yes, I understand people are suppose to put it back. But people are people.

This gym is pretty awful. The layout is absolutely awful, Which makes crowding a problem. The locker room is another problem and not monitored at all. Mens locker room is a hygiene nightmare. It's also very sketchy. Someone cut my lock. I told the staff and they were pretty much unaffected by the fact that people were getting their locks cut. I could see the bolt cutters out in plain sight behind the front desk. I'm not sure who cut my lock but i got the impression that a staff member cut my lock. When i confronted the general manager on duty he stammered and asked if anything was missing. What i want to know is why were you by my locker in the first place and why didn't you say anything to me when you first saw me? In any case it was my first and last time at this gym. I'll sooner work out in the middle of traffic on 290 then go to this location ever again.

SCAMMM! They tried to charge me $1000 fee for the personal training cancellation? The guy was very pushy and made me sign up for personal training when I clearly told him I only wanted to try it for a month because I couldn’t afford more than that. They only want your money and trick you when you first join as a member! Stay away.

The worst LA Fitness location to date. DIRTY!! Either the front desk acts like security and want your social to let you in or they just let HOMELESS people in ALL the time!! Had a homeless woman come sit next to me with no shoes on. I wish I was making this up, when I looked at my surroundings it was several of them let in. Never clean, weights everywhere, and no weights available. It’s one thing that the gym doesn’t have fun/advanced machines but to not have simple weights like 5lbs and 10lbs weights doesn’t make sense. I went in the fitness room to get 5lb weights and the instructor of the class (African American woman class Tuesdays at 6pm) was very nasty and told me her class has rights over those weights before standard gym members. Even though we all know that that gym doesn’t have enough equipment. If I could give it less than a star I would.

Liars, don't buy personal training.. Tricked me into taking personal training, told me I could cancel at any time, and I asked kvon if I wanted to try it for 2 months to see if I liked it. If you don't like it can cancel at any time, he said yes. After I asked the same question four times and got confirmation, I paid cash for a month instead of providing a bank card. He never mentioned a one-year contract. I wouldn't even do it if he told me there was a contract. Does he take me for a fool or discriminate against me for not speaking fluent English? Buy and sell say aboveboard terms clearly, and not so deceive consumers

This is not good. Got to the gym "late" on the bus, and was sent home at 9.38 pm because the doors close at 9.30. Been going to this gym b4 night shift work for the last 2 months for the sauna. This is my first time experiencing this. Now gotta go home, shower, and then be late for work due to this "change." So frustrating. Wish this was consistent.

I think this place has A LOT to improve… let’s start by it just feels like a planet fitness.. no one put the weights back, the machines are OLD, the AC/ventilation doesn’t work properly, so it smells like sweat all the time, AND the parking has limited time. max 2h. I like to be active and I usually workout for 2h + shower/rest/getting changed, so I felt a bit rushed. the location is convenient for me, but won’t come back unfortunately!

The management team and sales people are unkind and try to bully you into getting a membership and keeping one. The girls at the front desk are kind but this gym is full of toxic masculinity and not a welcoming environment. 0/10 would not recommend.

Do not expect much from this location. Its a regular old corporate gym. If you go in and simply workout it does its job I decided to try the personal training and I should have known better. Overall not a true 1 star but it needs to be brought down a notch. At best, the location is 3 stars.

I was bombarded with constant phone calls from this place trying to sell a membership after trying a 3 day guest pass and was supposed to see Tony today at 4:30 to talk about a week guest pass and signing up for a membership I get there at 4:15 and checked in after waiting 12 minutes past my appointment time I left! The ladies at the front never checked on me just kept talking and laughing. No phone calls this time. I called and requested a manager and was told he's in a meeting. The girl was not apologetic about the service neither did she offer to find Tony. Very poor customer service. They just lost a sale. Will sign up at another location.

Been coming here for 2 years now. Recent management seems to have declined, but given that the pandemic is over, there is a lot of work to be done. And they are trying their best. Cleaning staff is also doing their best given that this LA location is in a bustling area. Close to my school and my job which is why I like it here. I stay away from the weights area due to how busy and messy it is, I partly blame the few patrons who leave everything around and expect others to clean it up. Staff overall have always been friendly and I feel safe coming to this location. The worst times are 5pm which is nothing new since everyone gets off work, but around 7pm is when it gets a little more relaxed.

Mm, grmmm. Unfortunately, my mother and I had an unfair and unfortunate experience here. We got three day passes and read all the details in fine print. However when we arrived they let my mother in but when I came, they told me I HAD TO PAY TWENTY DOLLARS in order to come in because we lived out of state? I told them I had used LA Fitness in Chicago from out of state multiple times before and never heard this rule before. Even the person even admitted that he wouldn’t make my mother pay who had come in ten minutes before but the rule would only apply to me. This “rule” which is nowhere on the website and I had no way to know about. After walking a half hour in the snow and waiting an extra twenty minutes, I was very disappointed by the morals of this branch of LA Fitness. Go to another one in Chicago.

When we first signed up to be the membership with our friend. The girl said we don’t have signed up fee or annual fees for every year, so that’s why we being a membership. But we saw they charge our card for a annual fee, so we called to ask. They said they couldn’t do anything about it. That’s fine. I just mad because the girl didn’t tell me the truth.

This swimming pool is so dirty. I saw many balls of hairs in the pool. Also there are some unidentified items in the pool. The spa pool has many bubbles on the surface. That’s very disgusting. For the shower room, some has the curtain some don’t have. If you want swim, don’t choose this location.

Beware if you’re a swimmer! The pool is a 4 lane and decent quality but is closed about every other week for usually 3-5 days. Very little warning except for a piece of paper taped in front of the pool telling you it’s closed and they usually can’t predict when it’ll be back up! Otherwise it’s a decent big brand gym, crowded at peak times but you can usually find everything you need and most of the equipment is clean

I am actually really impressed by the gym for having a proper swim pool and jacuzzi within the facility aside from having all the right machines, a studio area, free weights, treadmills etc you name it, they have it. It was a great experience and I didn’t get any judgemental looks there either. A safe place for all people

My friend was deceived by the gym coach. They told my friend that she could cancel her personal coaching course at any time. Later, she learned that there was actually only three days left to cancel. Even without her knowledge, she lied to her and signed a contract. Later on, she realized that it was a one-year term. They concealed the truth and deceived consumers. When she wanted to cancel, they told her they had signed a one-year contract and refused to let her cancel it

Friendly members and staff, not to mention all the convenience surrounding, meaning all the shops. Just bring your car and you get almost 2 hours free parking. Its amazing. Get grocery. Lunch, even invite a friend and its like a cool meet up place considering how central it is. So....yea...love it here.

Been going to this gym for 6 months, the staff is careless and it’s always packed. I hope you also downloaded music because there is zero service and the wifi is slower than DSL. Honestly excited to switch gyms because I’ve had nothing but a horrid experience going here. Please if you care about your gym do not sign up to go here. What a waste of money.

Terrible service ! In the mist of my workout I needed water. Due to no vending machines working or no water fountains I went upstairs to buy water. 3 mins later couldn’t get back in. There was no one working at the front desk and me and 5 other people were locked out. I had belongings inside and couldn’t access anything until a while later when another guest left out. Crazy !!!!!

This gym salesman in Chicago has no professional ethics, tells people that they can cancel personal training at any time, and then tricks people into signing contracts, signing is not in black and white, more like a pos machine does not talk about contracts at all, cancellation policy is bad, must be a year, unless you are dead they will not continue to cheat you... I hope you won't be fooled

If you do not want things stolen make sure you take your gym bag and lug it around for your workouts. I recently had my lock popped at this location in the mens locker room and had some contents stolen. I disputed it to the staff and the staff could care less. Per LA Fitness’s membership agreement, the club is not liable per the membership agreement. Given the frequent thefts and the lack of accountability from Management to implement changes to prevent thefts, I would not recommend this club to anyone.

Great, employees are constantly cleaning and someone in the locker room all the time making me feel safe for my belonging. The atmosphere here is great as they have a very diverse clientele, love it as opposeded to those snootty privileged suburbenites.

The positives- the location is awesome. It’s surrounded by tons of other shops! There’s also a great variety machines and the place is kept clean. It’s also super nice that the pool, classes, and sauna are included in the monthly fee. However, there are some definite downsides. I would love for the gym to be open a little earlier on weekends. Also, as other reviewers have mentioned the gym culture here is just BAD. It seems like no one ever re-racks their weights. The dumbbells are never in the right place and are often not paired. The above really negatively impacts the workout experience. I’ve never seen the employees do anything to address the issue, even though it’s clear based off other reviews and what I’ve heard from others in the gym that it’s a big issue.

I wish I could give 0 stars. DO NOT BUY THE PERSONAL TRAINING!!! I will demonstrate my horrible experience in LA fitness South Loop. The place and equipment are acceptable but the sales manager is terrible who has no professional ethics. His job is to persuade people to buy the “personal training”, and tricks people to sign on a 12 months “contract” which he doesn’t mention it at all with 240 dollars monthly payment. The total is 2880 dollars for a year! He keeps emphasizing 240 dollars and 48 personal training sessions, and I can cancel it anytime. When I came back to him for cancellation, he was typing on the computer. I thought he was canceling it for me. But guess what, I was charged again for 240 dollars. Then, I talked to the operation manager, she declined my request again. Telling me that she can do nothing with this because I am the one who signed initial on the “contract”. I did sign it on the electronic tablet without any details about the contract. But the salesman didn’t say that it is a 12 months contract.I think it is totally a scam!!! I will send an email to the customer service, and I will file a complaint to Better Business Bureau to tell them what happened to me.

If you get a guest pass here beware that they’ll charge you $20 to use different parts of their facilities like their courts, and wet room. Management was also extremely rude and unwelcoming. Parking is also annoying and you’re limited to only two hours. wouldn’t recommend coming to this gym
