If you want to enjoy the outdoors and have contact with nature and also see something impressive, you must visit this place, but take into account that you must walk for at least 2 hours one way and another 2 hours back in a section with steep climbs and descents, it is not an ideal place to go with small children, but it is the best place to disconnect from the world and enjoy nature, totally recommended, bring plenty of sharps, comfortable and non-slip shoes, comfortable clothing, sunscreen and repellent, the place it is perfect. Special recommendation: hire a guide to take you to the place where there are no other paths and visit the waterfall first and then the little jump.

Chilasco Falls, the lowest waterfall in Central America, is located in Salama, Baja Verapaz. It is a 12 km dirt road that has been maintained from El Rancho to the town of Chilasco, 144 km towards Cobán. If it's raining heavily in this area, you might be a little worried if you don't have 4-wheel drive. Beyond the town of Chilasco, there is an unmanned parking lot where the promenade begins. We had no problems with theft. From there, it was half a mud road (January) about 3m wide. You will need clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, and rain boots or hiking shoes. Normally it takes about an hour and a half each way. There are several observation decks to get to the bottom of the waterfall. Local guides cost around Q50, but the children earn some pocket money to show us around.

It is a very nice place to visit. It can be reached by conventional vehicle, on dirt roads. The entrance fee is 25Q per person. You have to walk to the waterfall, approximately an hour and a half. The trail is not difficult, there are also horses. You can bathe in the river. An eco tourism experience. I recommend wearing simple.

Beautiful waterfall, entrance cost Q20 plus a guide who charges from Q50 to Q100, you must go with traction shoes, cane, hydration, snacks (do not leave garbage) the walk is approximately 5 km and the time will depend on the pace of each person. It has 2 beautiful waterfalls that will undoubtedly make you fall in love. You can bathe in the small waterfall if you wish.

The highest waterfall in Central America, in rainy weather it is advisable to bring a change of clothes, there is a lot of mud. For Q50 they can transport you on horseback for 2 kilometers, the remaining kilometer if you have to walk. Q25 per person is paid for entry + parking + guide

Approximately 1 hour of walking, it can be less or more depending on the pace you take, there are two waterfalls, a small one (one can get into that one) and the large waterfall, they are in opposite directions so if you decide to go to both you will have to go down and go back up to the point where the path divides for both, difficulty level 8/10

(Translated by Google) Excellent experience. There is parking with someone to take care of it. The roads are well made. It is of medium difficulty. But without haste it is achieved with any physical condition (Original) Excelente experiencia. Hay parqueo con alguien que lo cuide. Los caminos están bien hechos. Es de dificultad media. Pero sin prisa se logra con cualquier condición fisica

It is a pretty demanding hike, but the views are breathtaking and the waterfalls (both saltito and salto de chilasco) are superb. I recommend this hike to any nature lover. Price: 35Q forigner; 25Q national to be paid at the tourist info point in the village. P.S.: I have also attached some photos of the views, because there are enough photos of the waterfalls themselves.
