Roaches in my room and it’s sold out trying to keep my clothes off the ground so I can check out. It even goes deeper than this. I couldn’t even get a room change. I had the assistant general manager, throw four dollars at me and tell me to go wash my clothes because of the roaches walked me outside and told me to get my stuff and leave. I can’t say, anything other than this was the most disappointing stay at any hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I stay at a lot of hotels every weekend I’m traveling. And this has to be a reflection on best western and not just SureStay even though it is a franchise hotel. Because who monitors the franchise and what does that say about the quality of best Western.?

Stay away from this hotel. I paid for a room after two hours I saw that there were cockroaches, I asked to change room , the boy work in the night it's very rude, I have to wait for 2 hours, and in the morning the manager it's very rude he said I not give you nothing back, the girl worked in the night time it's very rude, stay away from this hotel. If you do not want to sleep with cockroaches.

TL;DR - You don't even get what you pay for My partner and I stayed here for about a week while attending a course nearby. The location is convenient for popping off and on to the highway, but in general it's definitely an area where you need to make sure everything is locked. The non-smoking-king room we had was brutal; don't believe any of the pictures taken by the owners. It definitely used to be a smoking room in the 80s when it was built, and it seems to still have the original paint/carpet/drapes. The AC worked, but has never been cleaned; so the circulated air was so full of mildew it was hard to breathe. The shower water was hot, but had negligible pressure, and a large portion of the paints throughout had peeled off. The fridge worked, but we didn't try the microwave or TV. They had wifi, but it was never more than 2Mbps at off-peak times, and did not work at all in the evenings. We didn't even bother looking at the outdoor pool up close; from a distance there was visible floating debris. Housekeeping came every-other-day to do turndown and replace the towels. Mysteriously our cards stopped working at the same rate and we had to get replacements. Were we not extremely pressed for time during the trip, we definitely would have moved. There are plenty of other options nearby. Save yourself a hassle, book one of the non-chain-hotels nearby. They were only 20% more at the time of our booking, and in driving by they appeared much nicer.

Budget friendly Rooms are a good amount of space. Bed was comfortable. Even so close to the road it was not loud. AC worked. Wifi was good. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Had a package mailed her one day prior to my arrival and they were so kind to make sure it stayed safe. Had really good recommendations to go and grab a bite to eat. Was not there long enough to hang out at the pool Carpet is pretty gross… I don’t understand why hotels still have carpet at all. Impossible to keep clean. The towels had stains. You can see all the bad in the photos It could use some upkeep.

This place has a ridiculous swimming pool schedule. It’s summer time but the pool closes around 7pm before it’s even dark outside. If you wanna take a swim in the summer evening, definitely look elsewhere. Plus the tables are greasy and it has the DIRTIEST towels (the white towels look literally like doormats)

My husband and I arrived at midnight from a 8 hour driving trip. When we arrived, the lobby was closed we had to go around to a back window where we had to wait for a little while to be waited on once we got everything situated and a card for our room we went and parked walked up to the room. The card wouldn’t work Went back downstairs to let them know the card isn’t working he re-magnetized the card. He said it should work now we went back to the room and it still didn’t work, but there was a light on in the room so we knocked on the door, and there was people in the room already we went back downstairs to let them know, and there was 1 room left but it didn’t meet our needs so we had to cancel our reservation now it’s around 12:30 AM. We’re not familiar with the area and we’re having to drive around to look for another hotel in the middle of the night.

Nice staff except for a young Latina that works there behind the desk. Rooms are very clean. Some need bathtub work on base due to cracks. Hot water doesn't work well at times in some rooms.. Overall worth the price.

It was our family's first-time visiting San Diego, and this hotel is just not it. When I arrived the younger girl that helped me out didn't even say hi and seemed to have been annoyed doing her job. Later when we came back from a long day of getting to know the area we wanted to shower, and our shower head was broken. There was a leak all night long that did not let us sleep. Before we went to bed, we called the front desk to see if anyone could help fix our shower and the guy said " Well idk what to tell you I'm alone and I can't send anyone" I asked if we could be moved to another room with a working shower and he said they sold out. 30 minutes later when we were all in bed someone came knocking to get in to see our shower or move us rooms. We had decided not to open the door or move rooms since we were already settled in and were told they had no one and had been sold out. (There were homeless in the area, and we just did not feel safe opening the door after being told there was no one to help.) In the morning on our way to breakfast as we walked down the hallway there was a wasp on someone's window, a spider on another and then a worm on someone else's. For breakfast they have cold Danish's and very limited options. When we returned to our room, we had about 5-10 minutes left till 11am to check out when the housekeeper was already knocking on our door asking if we were leaving. I suggest saving your money and the headache this place can cause. This hotel is not it.

The manager was racist and there's roaches. I complained to best western that the manager was being rude to women and he pulled me outside to tell me that he won't rent to me, like I care. A Mexican guy own the place, and the roaches come from his car all the way from Mexico into the hotel. I seen one coming out the muffler.

My family and I had an awesome experience here. Carlos is funny and professional. All the staff were AMANZING. Breakfast was nice every morning. The pool is great. I'd give more stars but google only let me give 5.

Not worth the savings. Mid change over from days inn to best western. Only one chair in the room so if two customers in the room one has to sit on the bed all the time very uncomfortable. Same staff which is good to see. Only one regular coffee package in the room and front desk was out

My boyfriend and I liked staying here they surprisingly have a complimentary breakfast , It's quiet and the price was cheap. It's really close to the trolley you can ride it south for a day trip to Mexico or north to discover different parts of San Diego. We had aN easy check in and had no Complaints. Would definitely recommend it to a friend.

The rooms smell like mold and cat litter. We were in one room on the second floor and switched to a lower floor due to my sons medical issues and that room smelled worse. The room was clean but the carpet was filthy. My socks were black. Get to the continental breakfast early, around 7a when it opens, so you’re able to get something small to snack on. I booked on Priceline and it says there is an elevator, there is NOT an elevator. Thank you to the young man who was working who got us to a first floor room right when one opened up. Close to the beach and a lot of restaurants. Close to the downtown Chula Vista area. Not too far of a drive to get to San Diego, maybe 15-20 min the most. I wouldn’t stay here again. Only nice thing was the staff was helpful.

We got a ground floor room. It was full of roaches. Room smells weird. Breakfast is mediocre. Not worth what I paid for.

Perfect stay! They are rehabing this hotel, and the room was updated and very nice (in the back building). Similar hotels would've cost me $30-40 more per night. The staff was friendly (yes, via the night check-in window, but that was fine). I would stay here again--probably will!

Pictures sent to Best Western and your location. No reply. So I waited thought Best Western would reply. But after nothing being posted and no contact I thought by now you would gone. Mold around tub. Room smelled like Lysol. And room carpet was filthy. Sign said no smoking but sheer on window had cigarette burn holes in it. People sleeping in entrance and smoking crack by the trash dumpster. You should be ashamed to call this a hotel. Slightly above a shooting galley. I see why so many people are sleeping on the streets in that area. Can't believe I wrote this without profanity. Your place SUCKS.

I’m giving this place 2 stars for the location; it’s safe, and for the customer service, where they allowed me to extend my checkout one hour. Besides that, everything is horrible. The room is extremely nasty. The bathtub has stains, the room smells bad, beds have bugs, and the amenities in the room are ok. I’m surprised it’s $74 per night. I should get paid to stay there, not vice versa. I’ve stayed in $58 per night places and the rooms were way cleaner and fancier. Wouldn’t really come back.

Great, simple hotel. Nothing fancy, but very clean and they provide a continental breakfast in the morning. Relatively quiet and great pricing.

Had a cockroach in the room. Found it crawling out of the shower head on my last day of a 2 day stay. Made the front desk aware but I won’t be staying there again.

I ge the stay for a friend who doesn't have Internet service because he doesn't use the Internet. I visited for awhile and left. Since he didn't drive I needed to return to pick him up after breakfast. I was disappointed in it because there were no eggs. Some cereal, two different juices, orange and apple. Coffee, bread and not much in the pastry selection. The bed seemed comfortable. There was mold in the bathroom around the bathtub. The room on the other side of the wall that was being dried out with a big fan for water damage as I passed by the open room door. I could smell the mold and would have requested another room if I was to stay over night.

This is my place to go to when in San Diego!! CURTIS … your customer service is AMAZING!!! They have continental breakfast and is always fresh. Easy access to the interstate 5 and close to downtown Chula Vista. We’ve been coming here since July of last year and will continue to return

I stayed here found a cockroach 🪳 as well we booked it for 48 hours and really were thier for maybe 24 hours total. 2 hours after 3 o'clock check in Time we left they only refunded 40 dollars. To not tell us of the on going problem is just not OK. The place needs to be shut down. Very disappointing all our money should have been refunded. Sham on u best Western

Okay hotel for a single male. Not in the good part of town. I saw many homeless walking/camping out. The rooms are generally clean. Everything in the room is dated. The front desk was handling an irate customer when I walked in. The front desk employees were courteous and in control of the situation. I left with my room key before it was resolved. Kudos to them.

Staff was nice, check in easy. We had a second floor the stairs were steep. Room looked nice but carpet was sticky. The towels felt like super thin rags and felt like they were falling apart. The shower was EXTREMELY slippery and didn’t stay hot for as long as I wanted

Our room in this hotel was infested with roaches, the carpet was dirty like was not vacuumed at all, the floor in the bathroom area was dirty like has not been cleaned in a very long time, and was able to clearly hear the conversations of our neighbors. Also the keys were not working had to go to front desk to be redone. Do not recommend this place to stay very unsanitary.

First I want to say the staff working the front dest was amazing. But I am pretty unhappy with my room. The shower was covered in mold All over,The sink didn't drain, the "breakfast " was yogurt, banana or apple, toast or a bagle, and pastries. That was it. No meat or eggs it was bare bones and no healthy options. I was extremely disappointed. I hate to complain and I want to say that the staff again was top notch but it was not worth the Money spent.

Good Afternoon, I don't usually go 5 stars after 2 separate stays (I don't sleep in the same place more than one night) anyway, that short Mexican manager is a total jerk, he must be the owner or the owners son. That guy had attitude for every one, even the female employees he was harassing to the point that i was offended and I'm a guy... Those two counter ladies will soon leave for the same position somewhere else for more money and less stress... I think that manager wants to start breakfast at 8am not 7am, he had me waiting until 7:20 for coffee, by that time i was too angry to take any "complimentary coffee" I'm going back to the Best Western one exit north... Thanks again for your business Surestay but never again. You're probably owned by the other Surestay on Broadway, I'll never stay there again, too many cockroaches

Can anyone explain to me why the prices for the coming months are so inflated? $400 a night for these rooms? I've stayed here when it was days inn and no way! These are $100 a night at best. All you changed was the pool. Still no smoking on property at all. You can get an Airbnb for that money haha you guys need to do some cost adjustment for the next few months. I will no longer be staying here until you do. Even the area is rough to be jacked up that much.youre next to a motel 8 and a train station for gawd sakes. You're not the hard rock 🤣

The place itself is close to the trolley, gas station, grocery store, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, Black Angus Steak House, Aunt Emma's Pancake House, Denny's, Taco Bell, liquor Stores, Restaurant Bars, Seafood, and even a cardroom casino. Ever since the new ownership came in over a year ago the outside of the place has been fixed up. It has been repainted, the street surrounding the building itself has been fixed and repainted, they have added lighting outside, they have cleaned up and fixed all around their pool area, and they have begun to replace all their small refrigerators and microwaves but are still working on it, they are beginning to change all their bedding linens, towels, shower curtains, and accessories but still have more to work on. They completely remodeled their front desk look and all of their receiving area along with their kitchen and eating area but they need to change and remodel their employees because aside of the person the owners have put in charge who is Vic the other guy in charge (Carlos) is rude, arrogant, nosy unprofessional, treats his employees and even some customers bad, and seems to have favoritism for specific housekeeping employees, the two maintenance men are very nice, polite, and respectful along with all the young housekeepers ( both male and female) but half of the older housekeepers need to keep themselves busy working and keeping clean and not worried about the men who come and stay here or that they work with, and as for the rest of the staff for the most part they are nice, helpful, polite, and professional. The rooms have a good size and the beds are very comfortable but the walls are beat up and dirty, the floors are dirty, the furniture is pretty beat up, and they need a lot of work still with the interior appearance. As for the laundry they need to work harder and get on point because even though they have begun to bring in all new stuff and replace all the old for the new it is beginning to look the same as before because they don't seem to care much to keep up. They are careless when folding and putting their just washed stuff away. They drop stuff on the floor and don't seem to care if they give people their dirty, stained, and damaged stuff.
