Beautiful, calming modern Asian ambiance, friendly service and delicious food! I am not vegan but I really enjoyed the vegan food. The plating was beautiful and quantity was huge. The jackfruit salad is something I haven’t seen before and I really enjoyed it. The very much shrimp looking and tasting fake shrimp was extremely intriguing to say the least! I didn’t mind it but I don’t love it and don’t see the appeal. I have had the eggplant tofu combo before and this was very well done. The eggplant and tofu were fried just right and the sauce was well balanced. A great experience and approved by a non vegan!

Amazing Asian fusion vegan restaurant! Ambience, food and hospitality are just great! We had mapo tofu and veg Pho with tofu. Both were delicious! We liked Pho more however! Just a note- there is a bed of broccoli in mapo tofu. If you aren’t a big fan of it, make sure to mention that. Their iced expresso coffee is also great. The server was very kind and helpful with suggestions! They have a diverse menu and we look to explore diff food options they have in future! Highly recommend if around that area!

The green papaya salad and summer rolls were so fresh and the dressing was very tasty! Black rice pasta was good too! I'm surely going to visit this place again.

This all vegan restaurant has such delicious food. I appreciated the clearly labeled gluten free options on the menu. It means you will need to opt for tofu instead of one of the fancy faux meats but the way they flavor their food, there is nothing to be missed. I've been here on 2 separate occasions, both for lunch, and would recommend. The restaurant has a nice, spacious appearance, suitable for different sized parties. Bathrooms are in need of some fixing up. Back to the food... definitely splurge on the beverages. The iced jasmine milk tea and Thai tea are delicious! It's hard to find dairy free Thai tea and these have the perfect flavor! I tried a chrysanthemum tea as well which tasted like a light floral water with pieces of sweet vegan jelly (lychee maybe?) inside. I've tried the lemongrass tofu,

Amazing food. I’ve been vegan for two years now and this place blew me away with how good the food was. We went on my brothers birthday and they even made my brother a special drink. We had no idea what it was but it was awesome. I will definitely be going back in the future.

Purple Mint is hands down my favorite vegetarian restaurant in San Diego, and I've tried them all. I'm always impressed with the unique and scrumptious flavors in the dishes, and can't stop myself from eating every last bit and wondering how they make the food taste so good. My favorite is the Kung Pao chicken. I've never had anything like it, it's just so uniquely flavorful and has a great fake meat texture too that I've never had anywhere else. I also also love the flavors and textures of the duck wrap, the fried fish with dill (which isn't on the menu anymore but they made it when we asked for it last time), and the sizzling beef. The lemongrass chicken is super tasty too. I probably wouldn't get the orange chicken again as it was a bit sweet for my taste, and the prawns in garlic noodles were good, but not as spectacular as the other dishes mentioned above. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, I highly recommend this place. After eating there, you'll be wondering like me what they put in the dishes to make the food taste so good.

So I got the special fried rice or house fried rice and it was phenomenal. The restaurant was really empty but there was such a great presence of staff and the entire Place felt clean and welcome. Definitely would order from here again.

This restaurant was a real find on my San Diego vacation. First, it was extremely accessible for my older cousin with mobility issues. The waiter was attentive to both of our needs and quite patient when we repeated questions. The menu was huge which made it hard to decide. We started with crispy wontons and some kind of spring roll. I expected them to taste the same, but there was a completely enjoyable difference. I would have liked more of a variety in sauces instead of just sweet duck sauce, but it was quite delicious, anyway. I had the entree with the black noodles and it was wonderful. We took home our appetizer leftovers and I’m excited to see how they taste on day two.. Everything else we gobbled up completely. And, in my opinion, the prices were very reasonable! I highly recommend.

Came here for some vegan food and was not disappointed at all! The service was quick and the place is pristine, definitely has a great atmosphere. The food was amazing! The yellow curry bowl with tofu was delicious and so was the vermicelli with “chicken”, you honestly can’t tell the difference between this and real chicken. GO HERE if you need some vegan food. Will absolutely be coming back!!!

This is a beautiful restaurant with every faux meat that comes standard in a non-vegetarian restaurant, except is all vegetable protein in this place. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived for dinner, but filled out while we were there (We arrived for early dinner around 5 pm). The food was delicious. We absolutely loved the papas salad and the spring rolls. Their peanut sauce is incredible. We also ordered a potato and tan curry, which was tasty, but came with a piece of plastic in it (likely from some tofu packaging) - they didn’t charge us food this entree due to the mishap. Likely any unfortunate and rare occurrence. Our final entrée was the Kung PAO chicken. It has a nice teaser to it, and an amazing crunch that was fun to chew. Overall it was likely deep fried, and a bit too long. But it was still good. The portion sizes were a bit smaller than most restaurants, but in reality they were just right sized to fill us up and avoid much waste. My mouth is still watering for the papaya salad every time I think about it. It was likely the best papaya salad I’ve ever had, and I lived in south East Asia for a long time, so that’s saying something. If you are looking for a reason to try, this is it- go try their pals salad. Incredible!!!

The Purple 💜 Mint is a gem 💎😍. Most of my friends are meat eaters, yet we love 💕 food and a friend of ours is vegan so we wanted to try it out. Holy Toledo, we were all very impressed 💯. We will be going here again. It's close to the Fortuna's hiking trails so it was a nice meal post hiking 🥾. I highly recommend the Thai Tea, the Crispy Tofu appetizer, the phó bowls, and the tofu plates. Everything we ordered was really good.

AMAZING is all I can say. I’m not a vegan and this is my first time trying this restaurant and I’m blown away. The food tastes amazing and I don’t even feel like I’m “eating vegan.” This is definitely motivating me to try more vegan options! I’ll be back very often.

The jackfruit salad was very refreshing with the mint - it was a great choice for this heat wave we're having this summer. The jackfruit were cut big - I thought it would be more smaller pieces spread around the salad. The fried avocado roll was ok. I had it somewhere else - I wasn't wowed or disappointed. The atmosphere is very nice - something that I didn't expect in the Mission George strip mall

Great vegan place. We came here starving after a long flight. They have plenty of indoor seating. We were shown to our table by a really nice staff. Their Thai iced tea is really good. We tried kung pao chicken, soy based filet mignon, noodle soup and crispy tofu. The crispy tofu was a little bland for me but my wife liked it. The entrées were all great

Let me start by saying the customer svc. was great, and the atmosphere was really calming. Regarding the food, which I had not tried the kind of tofu before. The bean sprouts were good and the peanut sauce was oh my gosh, fantastic! Make sure you know what kind of food they serve before you go. My nieces loved it! It's just not my thing.

Wonderful discovery! Three of us enjoyed a truly beautiful restaurant in the midst of an ordinary strip mall. The atmosphere is fresh, semi modern, lots of natural details with cute decorator touches. Very relaxing. Music is fitting with the atmosphere. Service was helpful, friendly and accommodating. The food is an eclectic mix of Asian dishes with plant based meats and fresh ingredients. Enjoyed all aspects of meal. Food was more than plentiful with the feature item escorted by a large amount of rice. We had Lemongrass “chicken” Bahn Mi which was spot on. Crispy French roll with nicely marinated “meat” and mix of pickled vegetables. A reinterpretation of Pad Thai has wide rice noodles, a mix of “ chicken and shrimp” and a delicate sauce mixed with vegetables was delicious. The Orange “chicken” was tasty and refreshing and escorted with rice. Our last dish was MaPo Tofu which had a delicate spiciness with a nice mix of vegetables and again escorted with rice. Overall, a great experience with truly great food and nice service in a beautiful atmosphere.

A family owned hidden gem in the mission valley area. Everything from the ambiance to the food to the service exceeding my expectations. A few weeks after my friend and I visited I realized that I needed my receipt. Although they were unable to readily find it CJ and the team worked on finding it for me. That in itself says a lot about who they are as a company. I will definitely visit again. Signed, A None Vegan

Went for lunch. Was greeted immediately and shown to my table. I sat outside which was very nice. They were also kind enough to let my use their WIFI so I could work. Although the place was empty I loved the atmosphere, very beautiful and clean. I order the Double Delight rolls (on the starter menu) which were recommended by my server. I also had a glass of Thai tea which was DELICIOUS. I enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Will definitely be back. Thank you Purple Mint team, keep up the great work!

I absolutely enjoy coming to this restaurant . This has become the most often picked restaurant by my extended family members when it comes to celebrating birthdays and special events. The food is unique and delicious and the atmosphere very welcoming. The staff are always kind and welcome you with a smile in their eyes. We love coming here 💖

I have visited here twice, and the staff were both friendly and quick to take orders. The atmosphere is enjoyable and has a very cozy inside dining area, as well as an outside area available. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Kale Salad and Crispy Avocado Rolls twice. The chicken salad has its namesake with a creamy mayo dressing. The dressing complements the bitterness of the kale and coats the chicken well. The avocado rolls were crunchy and came with a similar mayo, both of which were slightly tangy. I also ordered the Mapo Tofu, Lemongrass Beef, and Orange chicken. Each has their own unique textures, and the flavors are unique and have its original twist on these popular dishes. A peach lemonade completed the meal I highly recommend the Crispy Chicken Kale salad if you visit.

Very good atmosphere, service was excellent. However the food was mediocre. I have been to a lot of vegetarian Vietnamese places and this one doesn't quite get the taste right. I ordered Hue style noodle soup, but the broth didn't have the right flavor or umami.

Great place. Wish more vegetarian and vegans knew about it. Best kung pao I've had. This place is 100% vegan now. No more worries if you're food was cooked with eggs.

Strip center establishment, though fairly nice inside and pretty nice patio. Food and beverages are just average - nothing special nor particularly flavorful. Service is not all that great. Would not recommend nor return, as so, SO many other Vietnamese/Asian restaurants in area which offer copious vegan options.

  • 3/5 Vicki F. 3 years ago on Google
I'm not usually a fan of non-traditional sushi, but the flavors here are really exciting. There were so many combinations of beautifully prepared vegetables: everything we ordered was delicious.

  • 5/5 Nelle Q. 3 years ago on Google
My sister, my mom and I just left this place and it is SO GOOD! The decor is so cute and the staff is very friendly. We had the wontons, jasmine tea, orange chicken, Kung pao chicken, and the tofu eggplant dish. We all very much enjoyed our experience and food. We will for sure be back :)

This place is great. Everything I've gotten has been outstanding. Definitely big enough for plenty of leftovers (it'll take me 3 meals to eat this). It looks really nice inside and the service is awesome too. I keep coming back!

I was super excited to try this place out and I really appreciate the options they offer. It is cool to see a vegan Asian food place as I don't see these often. I looked into the place a lot before going and was excited that they have a men online as well as pictures/reviews of their food. The food was good but I was very disappointed by the service at the restaurant. We called in a pick up order and they did not tell us the price over the phone. We should have prodded but the guy hung up very quickly. They also did not tell us that we would be up-charged for brown rice. When we got to the restaurant, I was surprised by the charge because the prices didn't match what I had seen on their website. They told me that their prices had changed quite a while ago (so why not update the website quite a while ago?!) and that brown rice was an additional charge which is in the menu and online. I have searched online extensively and have not found anywhere that they add a charge for brown rice. This would have been totally fine with me if they had mentioned it but this in addition to ALL of their prices being wrong online is quite frustrating. I would have changed my order had I known that the prices online were incorrect. They were very dismissive in the restaurant and clearly not willing to admit any fault on behalf of the restaurant. I have reached out to the restaurant about this but have not heard anything back. I think others should know to be wary of this place and definitely check that you are being charged correctly. Update 8/28: no one has contacted me back from this restaurant regarding my experience and communication with the staff. Certainly wouldn’t recommend going here when they can’t bother to reply to customers who have been wronged.

The wait is too long. The food is ok but nothing great. I ate a lot but I wish the food had more flavor to it. I got avocado sushi roles, tempura, eggplant and shiitake role and for some reason they tasted the same. The soy sauce wasn't salty enough. It didn't taste like soy sauce to me.

  • 5/5 Stephanie T. 3 years ago on Google
Super good! Can’t believe this is vegan food! I always get the spring rolls and the king pao “chicken”. If you call in to order take out they are very fast and efficient!

Good vegan restaurant with nice decor and ambiance. First time trying out The Purple Mint, it was overall good but the food didn't blow me away. I will be back to try it again and try different things on the menu, I am optimistic next time around will be better. In my opinion Plumeria is #1, Loving Hut #2 and maybe this place comes in #3.

I've eaten here numerous times and it never lets me down! Tons of unique flavors, a variety of options...rolls, salads, tasty apps (hot and cold), soups, ect. I highly recommend exploring the specialty rolls...they're specialties for a reason. Get there early (at opening) for easy seating or be prepared to wait if you get there after 6:30pm. Regardless, it's always worth the wait.

  • 5/5 Tylynn H. 4 years ago on Google
The food was the most phenomenal vegan food I've had in California to date. The fake meats, which can be dodgy at some restaurants, were perfectly cooked and deliciously seasoned. The shrimp appetizer was gone far too soon among four people - I will be ordering it all to myself next time. Highly recommend the "chicken" and "beef". The Kung Pao chicken and orange chicken dishes were especially yummy. Can't wait to come back and try more!
