This brewery offers a huge variety of great beer. In little Italy so it may be tough to find parking. The food here is amazing and you cannot go wrong with anything. I personally go for the BBQ burger with truffle fries.

I’ve never said no to a Ballast Point beer/meal. Pretzel 🥨 bites w/mustard and cheese are great. I’ve enjoyed both the BBQ burger & now the pulled pork sandwich. I’ll probably stick with the pulled pork sandwich from now on, it was flavorful and crisp. The side salad it comes with practically fills the plate & is light. The truffle fries come with truffle butter that is addicting. Of course you gotta get a flight of beer. My favorites include the Fathom IPA & the watermelon dorado. 🍻

I've been here before only to have beer, but this time I had the Ballast Burger!! So far one of the best burgers. It was perfectly crafted, as if it prepared for marketing, tomato and onion perfectly cut and tied within the bun. I added blue cheese and I think it's one of the reasons I loved it. The blue cheese flavor prevailed competing with the juicy party of beef meat, perfectly medium cooked. I had the truffle fries with that delightful taste and smell that I love so much. I had one Oat Stout beer that I liked, I didn't find any special on it though, but then I tried the Rye Whiskey Piper Down and it was a fascinating flavor. I'm so glad that I tried it and for sure will be having it again and again. It definitely has a different taste coming from the barrels where is kept. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend to visit this place.

You’ve gotta try the vegan burger and fries at Ballast Point! They’ve got so much seating, with two patio areas and indoors! They usually have a great guest cider as well! A staple anytime you’re visiting San Diego!

I sat at the bar and only had a couple of beers. First and foremost, the Calico Amber was one of the best amber ales I've ever had; it was definitely the smoothest. I will have a hard time branching out when I come back because of just how good this beer is. The bartenders were awesome, friendly, beer lovers, and cool. I was flying solo, and I feel like they paid the right amount of attention to me since I wasn't with others. Easy walk from my hotel, and it was pleasant walking through a busy Little Italy Friday Night.

Great spot for lunch the atmosphere was very good. The server we had was very nice asking how my special was and explaining how it came to be in the menu. Very good place for a mid day lunch. The ordering experience was a little different but not too hard nor was it too inconvenient. You and to fully order your meal from your phone including payment, then they bring it to your table. We got a flight of beers all of which were very good. They were all 4 oz pours. Overall for a brewpub it was exactly what you would want with higher than average quality of food.

Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere with tons of seating. Tremendous beers with exceptional flavour (yes, I’m Canadian😊) the variety is really quite good. I really liked the barrel aged beer I got - very rich and delicious. Didn’t get any food but it looked good for sure. Planes flying overhead are cool as well. Stopped by a second time the next day since they had so many beers to try! Ordered the pretzel bites and they were delicious. The beer cheese sauce was so good!

Ballast Point is a good brewey. The beer is fine, the atmosphere is fine. However, you can likely find as good or better beer around town. Again, it's worth a stop but it's the environment and not the taste that'll keep you there. Keep in mind you'll hear a plane about every twenty minutes right above you.

Very good atmosphere and friendly staff. They have a good selection of beers with different flavors and many to choose from. There is also a bartender that really knows how to pour a beer. I'm from Belgium so we like our beers proper with foam. This bartender tapped them very nicely which made them even more delicious! I hope more bartenders will follow his example ;) Overal a very nice place to sit and enjoy some good beer, highly recommended! #BelgianApproved Ps: Also loved the way you could see how the beers are made and stored.

World class. They have 18 kinds of beer, very delicious burgers, and hot dogs. Also, kombucha and cider, everything is local. Even desserts. Fantom ipa is omg. Huge space, friendly stuff. What else do you need, and it's in the heart of Little Italy. Very friendly atmosphere. Highly, highly recommend.

Ryan was great in helping me find a beer I could enjoy. Wish you had your Porter or Stout. With all your taps, at least one of the two should be on tap year round.

Ballast Point is a major brewer in the San Diego area and I am so glad my Husband and I had the chance to stop by for a week day beer while we were in Little Italy! They serve by the glass or by flight, great for first timers! The size of the indoor and outdoor space of the building is deceiving upon first look, because it looks like a normal storefront. However, upon walking inside you are met with a large wooden bar that dons a long line of fresh taps behind it and plenty of bar seats. There are many high top tables throughout the large industrial looking indoor space. Upon walking out onto their outdoor patio, there are 3 large, covered VIP areas, each with their own TV that you can actually reserve ahead of time - think 'VIP club' vibes, so cool! Of course I have to praise their beer as well, like I said before it is a major brewer in the area and widely known and sold throughout the US.

Plenty of seating here inside and outside on a beautiful day in San Diego. Visiting from out of town and our last stop before the airport. Ballast point brewing has a great atmosphere and the food is phenomenal. Definitely gonna be back again. Pictured is the aloha sculpin, Al pastor chicken sando, and the truffalo wings (EPIC) !!

Great beer and better staff. We had 2 flights and the staff was as knowledgeable and helpful as I've ever seen. For a beer nerd it was highly enjoyable. Additionally we had the pretzel bites, wonderful. The beer cheese was great and the Dijon mustard was even better.

First time visiting. Lots of great beer selection. Got both grilled and fried fish tacos, they were great! Plenty more beers and food to try next time.

One of my favorite breweries. Staff is excellent! Beer and food are delicious! If you’re waiting for a plane out of San Diego, this is the place to enjoy before you’re flight! Suzy was a fantastic bartender and is an asset to Ballast Point! Omar is awesome as well!

I had a fantastic time. The burger and fries were good but the real highlight was the flight of beers I got. They were each unique, tasty, and nice.

I had the fish tacos and clams. Excellent! The beer is good and strong. One of the best breweries in San Diego. Im navy and have visited many breweries in the SD area. Highly recommend.

Great brewery! Have had Ballast Point on tap and in cans around CA but got to visit the brewery in SD on a wonderful Monday (vacation day) pub crawl. This was our second stop so we had a flight and the pretzel bites---Get the Pretzel bites! So good! Enjoyed all the beers we tried-2 hazys and 2 ales. Can't wait to try more of their beers and visit again anytime we are in SD. Cheers! Loved the patio and merch shop too.

very nice! came during Oktoberfest weekend. Staff were dressed the part! Beer was good as was some of the bar food we had. The beer hall was large and they had outdoor seating. It was pretty busy but we were able to get a place to sit drink and enjoy the day. Staff were friendly and the restrooms clean ... always a plus!

On the way to the airport and stopped here for a night to eat. A bit pricey for a burger but t did the job. Place is clean and the staff is very attentive. Note on the staff is there are plenty of staff and all ready to serve and give a smile.

This was a perfect place for a Sunday lunch while being Covid-cautious. We grabbed a menu and went to a table on the mostly-empty patio expansion. My husband ordered everything via his phone, and food and drinks started to come out within all of two minutes. Impressive! I had a farmer’s market salad with added chicken; it was a big salad in terms of greens, but there wasn’t a lot of chicken for the extra $6. The fries were fantastic. My husband’s hamburger was good, too, though it was much slower to come out. We really enjoyed the vantage point along the street on a beautiful day.

Came in on a Thursday at around 5 pm with a party of 8. There was seating for us outside in the back, and all the tables were socially distanced, which I appreciated. The only thing that was annoying is that it's located very close to the airport so every two minutes, you hear an airplane landing, which is very distracting. That being said, it's probably not the best place if you want to actually sit and have a conversation. But it's not their fault that they're pretty much located on the San Diego Airport runway. To order, you can just scan the QR code, pick the drinks (or food) you want, checkout and pay with your phone, and someone will bring it out to you. We were in San Diego celebrating my bachelorette and when our server heard this, he offered my first round on the house. Totally unnecessary, but very sweet of him! They have pre-set flights but I don't like IPAs, so I decided to make my own mini flight by just ordering the 4 oz sizes. I had: High West Barrel Aged Victory at Sea (Porter - Imperial/Double Coffee - 12% ABV - High West Bourbon/Rye Blend) Trade Street Rye Whiskey (Scottish Ale 7.8%, aged in rye whiskey barrels) Woodford Rye Barrel Aged (Porter-Imperial - 11.8% ABV) As you can see, I like darker beers. Aged in whiskey barrels? I am there! The High West tasted a little watery to me though, which is strange since it had the highest ABV. I liked the Trade Street and Woodford Rye. If beer is not your thing, they also have wine, ciders, hard kombucha - you'll find something. Overall, it was a great time. If I didn't need to save room for dinner, I would have tried some more brews.

For fans of the beers and newcomers alike. A wonderful setting, ample seating, great staff. Their online ordering experience is 2nd to none. It was extremely easy to place an order and subsequent ones. We ordered 5-6 4oz beers and the nachos (with beer cheese). The nachos were actually so fantastic I’m ready to have them again.

Personally didn't really enjoy the aspect of just ordering off your phone. If you have questions about the menu and it's busy it can be a hassle trying to flag someone down. Beer was good, fries were awesome, but burger was pretty meh in my opinion - super bland. I don't even think they put seasoning on it. Legit thought I had COVID for a few minutes because I literally couldn't taste anything inside of it... And it was like 18 dollars? I don't think I'll return, cool place to grab a beer but besides that it didn't have much to offer that wanted me to come back

This was my second trip to Ballast Point Brewing and I really enjoyed the experience. Ballast Point uses a QR code stuck to the table to order food from a smart phone. No app was needed and the code took me to a website for the order. This was nice and easy to use and kept me from having to wait around to pay for my order. I ordered a Longfin 16 oz beer, which was light and refreshing, and the fish tacos. The beer came out first which was great and shortly after I received the tacos. The tacos were good, not bad, but nothing to write home about, and there weren't many chips. The chips were homemade and pretty good. I'll plan on visiting again as I loved the beer, and probably order a burger next time.
