    While the food is great and tasty, the overall atmosphere and other aspects of the restaurant do not mirror that. The quality of the furniture, walls, floor are a lot lower than other restaurants at this price tag. It's also very cold in the restaurant, so you have to be mindful of how you dress if you want to eat there. Hopefully, these will be fixed soon. It's a pity, as this could be an easy 5 stars.

    One of the best restaurants in town, especially for duck breast dishes or shrimps in butter. Been here several times and it was always a pleasant experience. Service was always good and the food delicious

    An entrance which doesn't look like much, then a door with a spoon for a handle - i start to be intrigued. This leads to a small, intimate place with just a few tidy tables and handwritten menus with an impressive wine selection - i already like it. What followed was excellent food, appealing plating and very good services. Was expecting the beef with potatoes to be boring, it was anything but, then the trout and the pumpkin papardelle were delicious, whilst the nut pie was absolutely spectacular. Despite being quite pricy, we had a wonderful experience. Hat off Manger!

    It was our second time at Manger, we paid them a visit shortly after the opening 6 years ago. We came with the same expectations as we really enjoyed the food, the service and the overall atmosphere. I can say that it quite decreased in all three aspects. The service didn’t match the expectations, a minimal greeting and politeness for a high-end quality restaurant. The starters were tasty especially the Manger toast with duck confit and the gnocchi. The main courses looked and sounded very good, but the taste was quite average. One of the guests ordered a duck breast that was overcooked and when we told it to the server, she said that this is how they usually serve it based on what people usually request. I had the ravioli with duck confit which lacked a kick in the taste, it was okay but nothing impressive. The best main course was the beef ribs which were very tasty. We were disappointed by the dessert since their only option was from the pastry shop next door that you could buy for half the price, same recipe, nothing personalised. Overall Manger is okay but for us is not what it was used to be.

    This is a slightly hidden place on Ferdinand Street, with a small inside terrace. It is quite quiet vs the bustling street. The food here was pretty OK, but nothing amazing as you would expect from a fine dining place such as this. The price is also quite steep, but the quality was not up to par with it. I do not recommend the duck, it was quite tough. They have a selection of wines, though the New Zealand white wine recommended by the waiter was not that good. Overall, an OK experience.

    A nice restaurant but from previous reviews I was expecting more from Manger. The restaurant is at the back of a courtyard, secluded from the noise of the street so that is good. But if you arrive by dark for dinner, the access to the restaurant is romantic but poorly lit and, if you get a rain, could be slippery. The same low light conditions appear within the restaurant. People had to use their mobile flashlight to read the menu. Service was good with a friendly staff. The menu is simple enough and had I think a good variety of food. For starter, I had ordered the salad with cow cheese, which to me, could have been prepared with more taste. It really was as written in the tin, simple cherry tomatoes with not that a great soft cow cheese that it could be enjoyed at the price of the starter. For main, I chose the home made pasta (ravioli) filled with duck comfit. Although it looked rather saucy, it was quite nice and I enjoyed that. I am a dessert person but the cheesecake like dessert with chocolate coating was possibly my favourite. Overall, I'm thinking that place is ok and has the potential to improve on the atmosphere and elaboration of their dishes.

    I will start with the food which is the easy part, as it was really tasty so absolutely nothing to complain here. When it comes to the attitude of the waitresses, well, it's another story. Rude with no time to spare and actually treat the client with respect. The worst thing is that I have never in my life (nor me, not even the rest of the group) felt so embarrassed for the attitude they displayed. We were 10 people (8 adults, 2 kids), with a check of 300+ euros, arrived at 18:30 and at 20:30 we were "invited" to leave the location as that is how long our reservation was valid. No, we were not notified about this in advance as we wouldn't have done the resevervation in the first place and they even had the courage to lie saying that they told us over the phone which was not true. We even had another bottle of wine ordered, nearly untouched and needed to stop enjoying our family reunion. And guess what, they actually invited us to leave when they still had free tables and there was no one else waiting to get inside the restaurant. We left just before 21:00 so we would have noticed if someone wanted to take our sit 😁, with the place closing at 22:30. Was it because the little kids were moving around the table (no, the little ones were not loud or disrespectful in anyway)? I will let you decide that... but meanwhile, if you have a no kids policy, at least say it upfront. Don't just provide the food, ask for the money and "kick" the client out. You don't give a dime on your customer experience, that's for sure. Will never visit this place again.

    We had a great dinner with family in this place. All were cooked quite fast and all were delicious. We had very tasty dishes. Not big, but still recommend to visit if you want to have a good meal for yourself. Service was great.

    LOVED dinner tonight. Haven't been to manger in a long time (probably years), but after this dinner we'll be back so so often. Everything was exquisite, fresh, well thought out, beautifully plated. 10/10

    I highly recommend this restaurant with delicious food. The ingredients are fresh and the quality of them can be easily seen. The octopus was very nice cook, not chewy and the sauce fitted perfectly in the dish.

    Excellent food, intimate setting. Service was great and the food was exquisite. Also great value for money and the staff were very communicative (even though their English wasn't great). Went there on the recommendation of a local - were not disappointed! Definitely check this place out

    I have seen many reviews where the attitude problem was reported, yet no action items have been taken so far. First time at Manager and I can confirm the waiters bad attitude. I hope the manager of "Manager" will see this review, the problem is not one person, the problem is the culture of the team. At least 3 of them made sure to let us know they are waiting for us (indeed we were the only 2 remaining guests in the testaurant) so they can go home early. It was about 9:30PM when they told this first, closing time is 10:30PM. Is a pitty, the guy from the kitcken does a great job but, is no use if the interface with the customer is bad. Sorry, no more manager for us again.

    I loved the food.i had fish, which had a lovely crust and yet the meat was not dry.i also had some zuchinies which had something like a salsa which i found tasty.my friend had some pasta, which was good.the place is really nice, cosy and with good taste.i loved the ambiance and the shallow light

    We’ve had here one of the best culinary experiences in Cluj, with my colleagues from work. The atmosphere is intimate great for some friends to get together and catch-up, the service very sharp and the food is just amazing. We had 4 starters, and 3 main courses for dinner with some Bleu de Mer Rose wine. The starters: Manger Provencal Dips ( loved the hummus of the dips), the shrimp ( personally i am not a fan of see food but my friends liked it) , the duck was great, and i especially liked the cheesy gnocchi. For main course we had the daily special( beef ribs) , beef and the octopus with various sides- they were all very good. At the end of the evening it was very hard for us to leave ;) hopping next tome we can also try the deserts!

    Excellent food, but the service has a lot of room for improvement! We loved all the dishes we tried, very fresh, flavourfull, well cooked, every bite was delicious. Quite a small range to choose from, but we found everything very delicious. The service was slightly disappointing, staff was slow, not so attentive to our needs.

    It was the second time that we were at Manger. In my opinion it is the only truly good restaurant that Cluj Napoca has. They have a very hard standard that they are maintaining through constantly changing the menu. They create the most robust and well rounded menu, while keeping a small number of dishes such as to always have and use fresh ingredients. The service is impeccable, the warmth of the people is a given here. Now onto the food, we started with Manger toast which was a perfect combo of duck and radishes with pickles and mustard, on very nice bread, I really recommend it. Then for the main dishes we had beef ribs with brown sauce and pickled hot peppers, with a side of grilled zucchini with 2 salsas. The ribs were melting in your mouth and the comfort you got from the brown sauce and the peppers was truly something else. The grilled zucchini were the first zucchini dish that had me say that I could eat only that and be satisfied. The caramelized onions with the salsa and the perfectly grilled zucchini will really put a smile on your face. The other main was sea bream Alla putanesca with anchovies. If you are a fish fan, this is truly for you. It was a perfect combo of very fishy ingredients like eggs and anchovies, but it was paired with the tomatoes as to not be overpowered by fish, the seambream also had crispy skin and perfect moist interior. All in all, we are truly swept off our feet when we come here, will certainly return.

    Last night we had a private event at Manger. The food is absolutely delicious. I discovered new tastes by every bite. But also, consistency, complexity and balanced flavours. Chef Silviu C. is doing an amazing job here. The shrimps, hummus and salmon are epic! I heard about the beef being ‘the best’. Keep up the good work & taste!

    The perfect cozy place in the heart of the city to have the best slected food. The shrimps are amazing, definitely my favourite out of everyting I ate until now. The Staff are welcoming, warm and funny. I recommend from the bottom of my heart. It's a must if you love good food.

    Reading the reviews I imagined some sort of food experience which was definitely not there ... Hand written menu with not so many options, we were the only guests in the restaurant and we've been given the menu with "chicken, steak and soup are not available" -- very limited choice, we went for the tomato salad as starter, because in some reviews was described as amazing. There's nothing amazing: and it was also unsalted but we did not have the dressings on the table ... the pork steak was not bad but the overall experience it's all but good. Also the music was super sad and the place empty. Maybe it was just the wrong evening ...

    We went for lunch, the food was excellent, ingredients very fresh. The wines were very well presented and the staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes. It is a breath of fresh air in the local restaurant scene. I appreciate the short menu that changes often, as the ingredients are always fresh and purchased from local suppliers. For some locals the lunch/dinner schedule and short menu might be a bit confusing at first, but i believe in time everybody will understand that this is normal for a more high end restaurant that is focused on the quality of the dishes and ingredients. The prices are absolutely fair for the quality of the dishes. This is for sure one of our favorite places in town.

    Nice design, delicious food! The salad is really special and the salmon is an absolute delight! Michelin star quality food ;) And you can see in the kitchen, especially thrilling while waiting for the food.

    A restaurant should be a genuine and honest experience and Manger does just that! Food cooked with passion and good technique, an environment designed to be is simple and homey and staff that do their best to make you feel like home. For anyone interested in good food a small menu with things that become unavailable as the night goes on is a sign of quality! The only minus i think is the smell from the food but I am sure they will fix that in time!

    This place alone is worth a visit to Cluj. Everything we had was truly perfect and we ended up asking for seconds even though we knew we would not be able to eat everything. The place is cozy, a bit upstream, i like the fact that you get a handwritten menu. It’s actually hard to recommend something from the menu since it might not be available, but everything we had was wow! The shrimps were to die for, probably the best pumpkin soup I’ve had in the last 10 years, tasty pasta and out of this world pork chop.

    Last night, I went back to Manger with friends, and this time... the food was even better. The tomato salad was still on the menu and it was again delicious. My friends had meat, chicken and pork chop. And judging from their reaction and the empty plates, it was delicious! Some asparagus and extra potatoes on the side, yum! My dish was a delicious eggplant with cauliflower and a white sauce. It went perfect together and ease beautiful to see. Really well done! No time for dessert, this time, and that's a shame. I can recommend Manger to anyone if you're looking for better dining and bold but correct flavour combinations. Ten out of ten for me! I had already heard of Manger restaurant, even had it recommended to me... but tonight we entered more by accident than intention. But oh my, were we in for a treat. The simple outside place had a nice, intimate atmosphere, including relaxed music. The menu is limited (good!), but there is something for everyone's taste. The tomato salad was perfectly simple and beautiful to see. But we both looked forward the most to the main dish: turbot. This is one of my favourite fish ever, and probably not easy to find in Cluj. But I'm happy to have found it tonight. Delicious! A generous, beautifully presented portion all together, including the fish itself, but there was nothing left on my plate afterwards. My girlfriend had the trout and that was also a really tasty dish. Everything on our plates was right, it all had to be there, because everything worked together. Both pieces of fish could have left the pan a minute earlier, but that is where my personal taste is different from most Romanian guests. But it's still 10 out of 10, no doubt. I'm not a dessert fan, but this simple dessert is apparently an exception. Lime cheese, strawberry cream (cream, was it?), fresh fruit. Everything tasty and not very sweet. And again... everything together and it's perfect. We entered tonight by chance, we left knowing we'll be back soon.
