Delicious Romanian traditional food as always. Priced still better than other restaurants. What I dislike is that they charge for things like sour cream and bread a price that would cover buying a whole pack from a shop. Ate 1 slice of bread and paid as much as for a whole bread. It's a ridiculous trend throughout the city now that can easily make you pay extra as for a whole dish.

Wheelchairs people are welcome here to sit outside. The food is just ok and the staff are helpful to make a food choice. You have to pay for bread which they will put on each table without ordering. The prices are average. The price are ok compared to the middle of the old town.

We had a nice cabbage based meal here. There aren't that many vegetarian options (we only found one among the mains). The cabbage is delicious, and the soups are very tasty too. Pretty large portions.

Very good food . The waitress was super friendly. We had a table at patio and was very good atmosphere.

Located in the city centre, this place has delicious food. The serving was quick and the prices good. Definitely recommend this place for a quick bite.

A very unique place in town. Nice atmosphere with excellent food. Here you can try a red cabbage meal, like I did, with some kind of meat, of your choice, that will, surely, impresses you. I recommend going here to lunch.

Good place to eat. Not fancy and not exceptional tasty, however good enough. While I was there they were always looking for a new cook and helper.

The food was mediocre at best. At the senior waitress, we had the feeling of the "good-old" Ceausescu-time: very rude poker-face, speaks no English and had no intention to understand anything we asked. After a long wait, we got our dinner. We had to wait more than 10 minutes to receive the bill after asking it. Very bad experience.

Hands down, the best food we had in Cluj! Traditionally cooked by Romanian ladies, fast service and very nice staff. Nice and simple outdoor seating area. You have to try the Varza Ala Cluj- it’s like a lasagne made with layers of cabbage and meat! So delicious. Also the red cabbage dishes are a must try! We were surprised by the rich and smooth flavours. We loved the place and will be back.

Never in Cluj without visiting Vărzărie. Here you cand eat the best local dish Varza a la Cluj. The rest of the dishes are very good, too, at reasonable prices. Tastes way better than it looks 😂, trust me.

Traditional restaurant in the centre of Cluj, great local dishes, we tried the smoked ham and gulash, with drinks around 20 Euro total, honest prices.

I ordered Varza a la Cluj (see the picture) and it was amazing! If you are a tourist and want to try local food but nothing so extreme, this is a great restaurant and a great plate and friendly prices! I would come back!

Food was great but I was expecting more from the reviews of my Romanian friends. The waiter was a star. Saturday peak time and looked like he was on his own doing everything in front of House. Certainly he needed another person to assist ... was amazed he did so well with so much to do.

Not bad for the taste, portion size is great. Ordered their famous cabbage casserole and grated potatoes with chicken breast.

Delicious food at good prices. Come here if you crave something with cabbage, beans or spinach. Soups are also gloriously tasty.

It’s a good place to eat and quiet, the food is good but I ordered turkey meat and I received chicken … I asked the staff and they say it’s turkey without even checking it , so for me was a bad experience cus I don’t like grilled chicken ( the prices are the same , on the bill was chicken :((( … )

Good food and nice place, very local in the heart of Cluj.

Lovely and homey place for traditional food. The foods was delicious and comforting as if you eat at home. Mainly locals were there and the prices were amazing, not expensive at all. We had a great time. The only minor issue was the slow service at times.

The setting is a typical Romanian local on one of the main streets of the city. I was served a dish of sarmale with mămăliguță and a dessert, a cake made with a good local cheese. Incredible, I was looking for a local Romanian meal and I've found it here. Please do not hesitate to come.

The food was tasty and very nicely priced for the location. However, I wanted a meatless option, there were many on the menu but the waitress told me the only option without meat is the soup, so that was a bit disappointing.

Could give them 4 stars for the food but the service brings the whole experience down a few notches. I will not go into details but let's hope that maybe the waitress did not have a good day and this is not a typical experience for other customers. I always tip but this time I actually could not find a reason to.

A must when in Cluj. Old tradițional restaurant that doesn't seem to have changed in years but does tasty traditional dishes. Could be done up a little and service improved (hence only 4*) but would definitely eat there again when back in Cluj. Either book or get there early to get a table, it is very popular (we went on a Saturday lunch time but soon after we sat down could see people being turned away as it filled up).

The food was delicious and quite cheap too, but the second time I was there, I kept waiting to have my order taken for around 20 minutes, kept asking the waiter to come, but he never did... He didn't speak any English and would motion he was coming, but that never happened, so eventually I left. He was there alone, with that many people there should have been at least two waiters. That was disappointing.

Our favorite restaurant when we are in Cluj. We come here every day almost, and we have never been disappointed. Amazing foods for a fair price, and very nice staff, service. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Love it!!!!! Traditional fayre at reasonable prices …Delish home cooking and awesome cold beer. Welcoming service, just be patient they will get to you but have a lot of tables to deal with. We’ve been back several times.

Fast service, food arrived minutes after ordering. I reccomend Varză a la Cluj, excellent dish, and Gulaș is amazing too! Very nice people and a chill vibe. I will certainly eat here again next time when I'll be in Cluj!

Liked the food but waited so long because there were only one server which took so long to get our food

I waited 15 min for a menu, in the end I borrowed one from the table next to us, 30 min to get our order, 20 for the food ( which is acceptable) and 30 more minutes for our check. Food was ok but not amazing, was just warm and not hot, like someone prepare it 2h ago. For sure I will never return to to this place

Fantastic dishes, super price, old fashioned restaurant and waiters, super nice. Every single time we are in Cluj we eat here several times. All the typical food with cabbage and sour cream, bean, smoked ham and cottage cheese. 101% recommended!

I wanted to eat local. I got Sarmale cu mămăliguță and Romanian songs were played on the TV. So I was really satisfied. :-)

Limited options on menu when we arrived (only choice of two dishes). Food arrived cold but when you're hungry, you don't become picky. Staff was friendly though but you won't find the best meals in Cluj here.

At first glance it doesn't look like much, but the food was good, services great and the prices are pretty cheap

If you want to try traditional food, this is the place for you! No leftovers from me!
