-Ordered a set menu -Waited 40 mins for the main course -Called waiters for three times with no feedback ZERO APOLOGIES throughout BTW, this happened at 9-10 pm, guess their kitchen must’ve been pretty ‘busy’

The service is too slow. We wait 2 hours. They are lucky that I don’t speak French or else I would critique them , I can’t tell them my opinion I hope if you go to bar after your job to not take 2 hours to serv you as we wait for a pizza. Of course and I will have fun to my vacation but not to your restaurant again. I’m sorry. Don’ answer me please I will be not so polite next time. Am Greek not Marseille.

Ohh I really wanted this to be a good experience 😩. We visited this past Sunday. Service needs is just okay but the problem was the food. The ravioli special was merely okay. The pasta were overcooked. The risotto on the other hand was undercooked. I mean, a mix of well cooked and undercooked rice. The magret in it was really nice and you could taste the truffle in the sauce. It could have been so good! I'd agree though the portions are indeed generous which is a +. Overall 3.5 stars.

It started out well when the drinks and antipasti arrived quickly and were nice, but then it seemed we were forgotten. Our mains then took an hour to arrive and it was only after a lot of long and bored looks that we were noticed and our food was chased up (it was impossible to actually flag down a waiter to ask). Then the food arrived and one dish was not what it was specified to be on the menu, and the Caesar salad was chicken nuggets on lettuce, not nice, and not eaten (a few of the nuggets were eaten by my four year old). When told the food was not good we were just given excuses, a last minute free limoncello did not save the day I’m afraid. We will not be recommending this restaurant to the hundreds of guests we welcome every year to stay at our establishment.

Having visited La Scala several times in the past whilst passing through we were very happy to be there again. As usual the food is superb and staff very attentive and friendly. Very impressed how they treat children. Look forward to our next visit.

We had lunch here. The welcome and service were very cold. The multiple servers who came to our table throughout our meal, never talked, nor looked at us. When there was a lot of uneaten food on my plate, they didn't even inquire as to if everything was ok. We ordered a planche which was ok, but the rotten salad left something to be desired... My husband ordered the risotto which had big chunks of rice from reheating it. My pasta pesto with burrata was super overcooked, and the sauce was heavy and separated. Everything lacked a touch of seasoning. We ordered a carafe of vin that was terrible. The restaurant could use a deep cleaning. All around one of my worst restaurant experiences in a long time...

Very disappointed, carbonara not good,no salt, no seasoning, nothing! Bruschetta with Kingsmill bread (soft, not nice and bland, not toasted) And service extremely delayed. Will not be returning.

When you order a foie gras burger, you get served something else, you get ignored by the waiters, and it takes over an hour to cook three meals. Excuses given “waiter should have told you theres no foie gras” “The ducks are sick that’s why we don’t have it” Keep your free lemon drink and have this one star. When they think they are mugging off tourists, they are actually local business owners who bring hundreds of guests to the area each year. Edit Many thanks for the reply, and confirming your status as a merchant banker.

Absolutely love this place! I’ve heard about the mixed reviews this place has recently received but must admit our experience was wonderful! We were served by a well experienced and funny bald waiter whose name I wish I knew to mention him. It was quite busy but there were a few tables free for walk ins inside although the balcony was fully booked. Inside however the setting is gorgeous and so creatively put together, not to mention the food was superb. As a group we had pizzas, calzone, a burger and a risotto, all of which where delicious, perfectly cooked and elegantly served. If you haven’t visited this place before or for a while then I would definitely recommend. Although we were too full for pudding these also looked amazing and the cocktails were very good meaning there’s something here for just about everyone! A special thankyou to the waiter that served us despite our terrible french and complicated order- you made our evening a delight 😊

Restaurant is very nice. Sercvice excellent and quick. We had a fantastic lunch of 3 different pizza and a plate of italian cheeses, served with enough bread. Draft beer 🍻 was very refreshing. I highly recommend this place! Merci!

Really lovely restaurant Staff really helpful despite my poor French Hubby said it was the best steak he has had in years . I had pasta which was delightful and we both had dessert which was chocolate fondant pudding and was to die for Really reasonably priced and beautiful setting Would definitely visit again

Good honest Italian restaurant. Not the most sophisticated and light, but portions are generous and the quality is definitely convincing.

A little chaotic on the day I was there (for some reason they kept bringing me orange juice although that wasn't what I ordered!). But the food is very good and that's what is most important.

The servise was too slow. The pizza was not delicious, lasagne was very mixed and included too crema.I never prefer that restaurant again;((

Nice ambience and decoration. Pizza (burrata) was good. The salad just ok. Price is correct. Service needs to be more attentive and enthusiastic.

Nice food. We got the pizza Regina and carbonara. Both nice. The only thing I can fault is the carbonara dish was a bit on the small side but they did give plain bread with it so you would be full up from that. It was lovely however. Pizza was good too. Very Reasonably priced too which was a big bonus. €7 for cocktails!! Cheapest we have seen yet travelling around France. Be weary of the far corner outside - Birds tend to poop there!! My boyfriend got a lovely big surprise onto his shirt just before the food came out 😅. Could have done with a bit of light music to create a vibe. Overall nice and good attentive staff. Would recommend.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and always found the food, staff and ambiance to be perfect. However, after taking a friend there for lunch I have to write this review. The pizza was excellent - I cannot fault a pizza at La Scala. About 25% of the lettuce in my Caesar salad was brown in places, which I know is still edible but it looks unappetising and should not have been served. This was noticed and removed from the table by the waiter as I had taken it off my plate. Some of the tomato was also over ripe and should not have been served in a salad. I was very embarrassed as I had told my friend how good La Scala is and I find it difficult to justify the poor quality of salad served to me. La Scala your food preparation let you down today.

We have eaten here consistently for the last six years, but I have to say that we probably wouldn't come again after the meal we had on Monday. The quality of food has gone down significantly and the bruschetta was bought in bread that was barely toasted, soft and not at all crisp. One of the pieces was topped with literally cherry tomatoes cut in half and that was it! And they were spread out to use the least amount of tomatoes possible. It's a real shame as we've always loved La Scala and the manager and staff and great, but there's another Italian now in Cognac that serves fantastic bruschetta that's actually better value too so I know where we'll end up going next time.

Very disappointing! Cold, inedible food and very rude waitress and manager. The first waiter was very pleasant but it was all downhill after our initial order!

I think this place is just okay. The interior is quite cool but the food was not amazing. I am vegan and they basically refused to amend anything on the menu for me - even make a basic tomato pasta or arrabbiata which is usually an extremely unproblematic request when eating at an Italian restaurant (and why we gravitate towards them when eating abroad). I also asked if they could just make me some tomato bruschetta (instead of a trio of bruschetta on the menu that included a tomato one) and they even said no to that! The veggie burger was unavailable so we ended up with a tomato salad that was literally a bowl of tomatoes, and a vegetable pizza with no cheese. We’re getting married in Cognac so will no doubt be back in the area before then but will not return here.

😠 We were waiting 90 minutes for a dish that never arrived. We left the restaurant hungry and tried to politely share with the staff why the situation was not okay. We were told it’s our fault in a very impolite and unprofessional manner. Never again.

👍 This place is a good family restaurant. At first, the choice of recipes makes you doubt about it but the size of the kitchen explains it. There is an inner terrasse. This is really nice and secure for young children. The service is efficient and they have fries for the youngest!
