The crémant and the wines were lovely, as were the starters - she had the bone marrow and I had the fish soup. My only criticism of the soup is that it had grit in the bottom so I couldn’t eat it all; a shame that more care wasn’t taken. Half way through the starter, I called the waiter over as my wine was empty. I ordered a glass of Riesling. There was just one waiter serving all guests, which seemed unfair, but still the starters were good. I finished what I could of my soup and still the wine hadn’t arrived, so I asked the waiter again, 10 further minutes passed and still no wine. My girlfriend then had to ask the waiter again, at which point the mains arrived. I then had to tell the waiter not to bring the Riesling as I wanted red with my main (entrecôte). Literally half an hour after ordering the Riesling, I had received nothing.. Rien. Unfortunately there were no positives from here. At over €30 for a main, in France, I expected so much more. The beef (medium rare) was dry, overcooked and flavourless. It was poorly cooked - the underside was an anaemic grey colour.. no Maillard effect/caramelisation. I honestly could have cooked a better steak myself. The chips were mainly burnt - the potatoes were potentially the wrong variety, containing too much sugar, or the oil was too hot. They were really disappointing. The veg was a joke, 1/2 a turnip, 1/8 of a carrot, 1/64 of broccoli. We told the waiter that we were disappointed with the main but he didn’t care. I fail to see how this restaurant is rated so highly. €125 for literally the worst meal of our trip to colmar, and one which was by far the most expensive. There seemed to be a complete lack of any management or hospitality. TLDR: great drinks, decent starters, bad service, bad mains. Update following the owner’s response: the attitude of the response is very telling. Yes, my reviews tend to be negative because I feel that people value criticism more (I’ve literally only left 3 reviews in total, so please don’t make me out to be super negative). Maybe go for an evening at Le Cercle Des Arômes to see what good hospitality is like. It’s very offensive to blame tourists when they make up so much of your business - over half of your bookings were either English, German or Spanish when we were there. And it’s hardly regional gastronomy when you use Irish beef. I also forgot to mention that you have no light in your bathroom - why would you not even put a candle or a temporary light in there? It’s lazy. Learn to be better hosts and better cooks.

Charged us for it despite it being untouched, also charged us for a drink we did not have. Lovely little restaurant at 10 mins walk from the hustle and bustle of the Colmar old town. Dishes on the menu are tasty and made with care. Service is attentive and pleasant.
