    We made a reservation for my family of 4 at 9.30 pm and arrived on time When we arrived at the hotel the doorman instead of pointing us to the restaurant send us to the Hotel Front Desk The person on the front desk make every excuse to not let us in I had to get my self directly to the restaurant to be informed that the restaurant was closed for a private event Nobody apologize neither the captain or anyone else I felt discriminated for no particular reason. I can understand if they had a problem with their reservation system but the whole episode was handled very poorly FYI the reservation was made under Nedvedovich

We had the A La Carte Menu which consisted of Half dozen Fine de Claire oysters Shallot vinaigrette, chester bread and lemon Crustacean cocktail Cocktail sauce, horseradish, lettuce and mango SCALLOP "SAILOR" White wine, north sea crab, young leek Bodegas y Veñedos Artazu, Navarra Santa Cruz de Artazu Chateaubriand of German pasture-raised beef Cipollini onion, baby carrots, annabelle potato Blood Orange Sorbet Tangerine and Carrot Sorbet Overall, great experience! All the dishes were wonderfully delicious. The staffs are warm and welcoming! A restaurant very deserving of the highest praise 😊

    Excellent restaurant. Food is very high quality. I was very surprised by the duck liver with raspberry sorbet, it was delicious. Then I had a perfectly cooked beef piece and some chocolate. Service was perfect. Only bad thing that comes to my mind is that the room might be a bit “closed”, but I did not mind as I was focused on the food haha. Very great experience overall.

    Twice I have eaten here, years apart. The service par none and the food is worth the wait. Of all I had I enjoyed the lamb and potato croquet qithe the red wine pairing. Surprising I would eat the rhubarb desert again and I do not like rhubarb.

    Had a great lunch with a delicious parsley soup and a wiener schnitzel. However, if you go here one must try their roasted goose. It looked and smelled absolutely fantastic. Good enough reason to come back. Excellent service and the location is just beautiful!

Die Suppe hat jedoch sehr gut geschmeckt. Aber ganz ehrlich den Hauptgang (Rehkeule) hätte man so in jedem Brauhaus in Köln auch für viel weniger Geld bekommen können. Das hat uns enttäuscht. Einzig das Dessert war echt gut. Ein Lob an die Patisserie! Der arme Kellner konnte leider nichts für die nicht so guten Gerichte, doch war stets bemüht uns gut zu bewirten. Dabei wurde mir auch gestattet die Suppe aus dem Menü gegen eine von der Karte auszutauschen. Die anfänglich lange Wartezeit könnte sich aus zu wenig Personal ergeben haben. Es war gut besucht, doch man konnte nur 3 Kellner sehen. Zu wenig für ein so gehobenes Restaurant. Leider wurden die Speisen auch nicht erklärt, so wie wir es von gehobenen Restaurants erwarten würden. Es gab überraschenderweise aber auch Pralinen zum Schluss. Diese wurden von der sehr netten asiatischen Dame serviert, die uns aus dem Taku bekannt war. Für uns ist sie die gute Seele des Hauses und die beste Kellnerin. Sie verdient echt Anerkennung! Insgesamt gibt es in dem Restaurant aber noch sehr viel Luft nach oben und es konnte unsere hohen Ansprüche, die mit dem Hotel Excelsior Ernst verbunden waren leider nicht erfüllen. Insgesamt war es lediglich ein überteuertes Brauhausessen für uns. Bei dem Preis, welcher sich auf Sterneniveau befindet, hatten wir mehr erwartet.
