Long post ahead! One of the worst customer experience ever encountered to the point that we vowed never to sight the place again and this review is so that anyone else planning to go there will not be surprised if the “uncles” talk to you with the most ridiculous attitude. When we called to make an appointment, the Uncle’s representative sounded so cordial and supportive we actually looked forward to trying this place out. But from the second we walked into the place till we walked out a few minutes later, everyone was so unwelcoming, unprofessional and downright rude. 1. We said we have a reservation for two and one guy immediately said “if it’s just two, sit at the bar” and I explained how I have a chronic back issue where sitting on backless bar stools rendered uncomfortable. To this, he scoffed and pointed us to a table which had one chair so wobbly which we (two girls) ourselves changed with a less wobbly bar stool which my friend didn’t mind. Being the hosts of the place no one even minded to ask why we are switching chairs even though we were literally the only customers at the time. 2. We wanted to order some cocktails and realized there was a Happy Hour ending in half hour and we asked if we can have the free ones that come with the drinks once we finish the first round so the ice wont water down. The response from the guy taking our order was “whatever you order within the happy hour , you need to finish drinking within 10 minutes after the happy hour or don’t order if you can’t finish by then.” We honestly didn’t understand how abrupt and rude they were being at two simple requests we made and questioned as to why and he merely said “we don’t take reservations for just two, it has to be bigger no of pax” and this wasn’t communicated to us when we called earlier where they confirmed our reservation for indeed just TWO! Honestly at this point given how two guys were being equally passive aggressive we just walked out to one of our usual spots in the vicinity which was definitely the right decision. So Dear “Uncles”, please walk around to the surrounding restaurants at Park Street and Colombo to learn how positive communication of the hosts with pure hospitality and genuine professionalism can go a long way, even without having Happy Hours or any extra perks to attract customers. Tried only the cocktails but they were eye candy and delicious too. Full flavour and a very unique set of cocktails. A very small space but the outdoor seating is very cozy. Staff were friendly and helpful but felt like they were pushing a bit too hard to try out new items. Fair pricing given that the cocktails were top notch.

Uncle's Bar might have a catchy name, but don't be fooled. The manager single-handedly ruins any chance of enjoying your time there. With the lack the basic courtesy required for the hospitality industry. The manager's appalling behavior ensures I won't be back, even if they were giving drinks away for free.

The service was absolutely terrible since the waiters had no clue as to the count of drinks or food items ordered by the table. As a result we were charged for items we did not even order. We patronized the premises during happy hour and were informed that happy hour is applicable for all cocktails and beer. Later on the waiter informs that it is only for selected cocktails and not for what we ordered. This is absolutely unacceptable and an establishment such as this should be more customer centric. The very first experience sadly would be the last!

My husband ordered a bottle of Hendricks that was there on the menu for 42,000 and the final bill for the bottle was 75,000 /- like what? We clearly told him bring us the the Hendricks 42,000/- bottle and his answer was like after billing it for 75k oh no but it was 1 ltr which they clearly didn’t mention on the menu! If they have sizes they should mention on the menu! Such cheaters! 75,000? Really for a 42,000 bottle? Where does it say liter infront of the Hendricks bottle? All the other bottles says L so they charged us extra for the bottle we ordered on the menu!

Worst customer service ever! Doesn’t even worth a star.. We went and they point at my wife and my other friends and said ‘we can’t serve underage people’ and soon i said they are all above 21 that manager and server was like ‘nah look at them, how can they be above 21’. Disgusting customer service I’ve ever experienced. We went the day before and got two bottles and the server was forcing for another bottle. Very slow service and they won’t let you go up easily saying it’s reserved which is not. Will NEVER go again or will not recommend to anyone unless the management do a good clean up on servers or teach them manners on how to talk to their customers since we don’t go there to drink free or to take a photo or two. If anyone thinking of having a good night with friends or family avoid going to this place !

The manager was extremely rude and I can understand if I was wearing something casual, instead I was wearing a culotte and a black arm-cut top with my chunky boots and the manager had the audacity to call it a 'vest' and I was baffled by the treatment of him loudly saying 'you can't be here, in your vest', I have been to this bar and have experienced this guy being cocky before, but the casual homophobic undertones of his demeanour is UNACCEPTABLE. I have lived in London and had the opportunity explore the nightlife with inclusive spaces wearing the same outfit. I have been to this bar many times, I had to say the waiter/ bartenders are really nice and hospitable , it is mainly the managers (the staffs with black outfit) who are homophobic and lack manners to treat people equally. Firstly this is a casual bar with a lack of understanding in context and accepting people of different gender expression. It's such a shame these bars carry out the name for being the 'popular bar' in Colombo but they aren't openminded as they state. I had a terrible experience. It is disappointing to see we have to face such discrimination in 2023 and I would urge you to educate your staffs.

Had been wanting to try this place out, so finally went a few days ago. I hadnt made a reservation because it was a spontaneous decision. When we got there, only three tables were occupied. We told the server at the entrance that we hadnt made a reservation and asked if they could accomodate two persons. He said the tables outside were fully booked and that they could accomodate us inside. As soon as we stepped in another guy from the bar rushed in and asked us if we had made a reservation. When we said no, he snapped and said, "no tables you can only sit at the bar". He then stood behind us, as if to ensure we'd leave. Since we had planned to hang out for sometime and didnt feel like propping ourselves on a bar stool for several hours ,we decided to leave. Given they newly opened, youd think theyd be far more forthcoming to the customers. I get that we hadnt made a prior reservation and they had every right to turn us away. But given we went at around 1930 and only three tables were taken (those too not fully occupied), the "we are fully booked" felt like such a farce. Even if that was the case, there was a far nicer way of communicating that to thr customer instead of snapping at them and putting them off on their first visit. Really disappointing because I had really wanted to try the place out. Will never go again because there is really no need to deal with their arrogance when there are many other bars in Colombo that welcome customers and understand the meaning of hospitality.

Didn't let me in though I had a long white trousers on, just because of my slippers. They change the rules every day, last time I got in wearing even shorts and slippers. Well I guess the employees were smarter last time when I spent 20k. Not recommended, overpriced for small drinks and too crowded. Bad service too, needed to ask for a menu card the last time because they rather chat with friends than to provide service to waiting customers.

Worst customer service. Double standard for locals and foreigners. We asked for a bench because there were five of us, but told us the bench is reserved for six people or we have to buy a bottle. We have to sit in a small table, not having enough space to keep our drinks and food. Then a couple of foreigners came with a kid and the staff was more than happy to let them sit on the bench. Food and drinks not worthy for the price. Do not have mocktails in their menu.

We walked in on a Saturday evening at 19h or so and the place had some very jolly people inside. The music is slightly too loud for conversation, and the seating seemed unnecessarily limited. It was hard to find a place to stand, specially as all the staff seemed to be dashing around serving entire bottles of sparkling wine to larger groups. Felt very much like we shouldn't have bothered going in since we didn't turn up with 10 other people. Two people going for a drink- how crazy. The cocktails were amazing though. Nice combinations of things, prepared unded our nose. And eyewateringly expensive. The tapioca chips were excellent. The waiters were friendly. And yet the vibe was weird, kind of hostile if you weren't in a group, with barely space to stand. Probably not going back.

I had a fantastic time at Uncle's Bar in Colombo: - Amazing ambience and great vibes. - Indoor and outdoor seating options. - Delicious food and superb cocktails. - Friendly staff. - Enjoyed the happy hour deals. Just keep in mind: Service charge and VAT are added to your bill. Overall, a fantastic experience and definitely worth a return visit!

Beautiful space, they have all the locally infused cocktails which is a must try. We had their Amba (Mango) Martini 🍸 Had lovely jazz music last evening!

I wasn’t a big fan of the cocktail, the Pandan or Rampe cocktail isn’t recommended.. rest of the place was nice! The vibe, the paintings and the staff were lovely! For food we tried the chicken roti was nice and mutton rolls!

I bought a bottle of Hendricks of gin for 42k LKR and because I was white they charged me 75k LKR. It clearly said on the menu 42k LKR and they pulled a bait and switch after we finished.?

My all time fav bar in Colombo for the past year!! Love the vibe and drinks!! The bites are incredible - must try the prawns and mutton roll!! Drink is Aunty Agnes! The bartenders and wait staff are very friendly- Gayani is my fav. Anyone visiting colombo go have a drink at Uncle’s.

Nice little bar in park Street mews. Has a good selection of drinks including cocktails and food. The prawns dish was heavenly and would go back just for that !

The vibe was good. But weren’t sure if they sell cocktails or overpriced flavored ice water? Cocktails were heavily diluted. Didn’t live up to my expectations

J'étais ennuyé par la façon dont les serveurs recommandent des boissons à une personne qui ne boit pas d'alcool. Ne forcez pas les gens à boire.🤯 Employees are annoying and condescending towards customers. Not a good place for foreignors. My friend wanted to go because of the name, even though I do not drink alcohol at all. I was annoyed how servers recommend drinks to a person that does not drink alcohol. It is insulting when the employees do not understand some people do not break their PRINCIPLES regardless of how much they try to convince. Overcrowded in a small area. Atmospher is very hot, humid and uncomfortable. Air conditioning did not work. Food is slightly ok not so good. The place gets crowded very quickly so it is very uncomfortable to eat the food in a tiny table and listen to the loud annoying voices of employees.

Great atmosphere, great style of service, and causal. Was rammed inside and out the day we went. The cocktails are unique but could do with a bit more of a punch.

Nice place, vibe is great. Wish they had a better menu of non alcoholic drinks- very limited choice if you don't want alcohol. Apart from that, love the place and the vibe.

I recently visited Uncles Colombo restaurant and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The service was impeccable - the staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The atmosphere was simply amazing and made me feel right at home. The cocktails were top-notch - expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. And the live jazz music was the perfect complement to the entire experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Uncles Colombo to anyone looking for a memorable night out. It's truly a gem of a place with so much to offer!

Absolutely amazing experience at Uncles. Great service! Delicious food! Chef Harith is phenomenal! Cocktails are SPOT on! If you’re in Colombo, Uncles is a place you should definitely stop at!

Unnecessarily overpriced for a crowded warm, dark, unwelcoming, very small bar. Unless you’re taking a bunch of your friends with you or you’re a foreigner, they’re not very happy to serve you. As soon as I walked in with a friend someone screamed saying “bags are not allowed” and didn’t provide us with any seats until we handed the bags over to them. No proper place to keep our belongings safely. Had to pick the bags up ourselves from the floor in the corner of the entrance on our way out. The beverage menu didn’t have any prices mentioned in them and the staff wasn’t bothered to explain either. Just two glasses of toddy and a plate of chicken cost us almost LKR 7,500. Do not ever wish to visit even if they offered free drinks and do not recommend anyone to visit this place as there are many better options at Park Street Mews itself.

Wow. What a terrible place. I can't believe this place still operates as an establishment. You have to stand in line for hours before your order is taken. Then the person behind the bar makes drinks for people that come after you, laughing and joking with them so they must be friends. And i think the good reviews are probably are probably from all the friends . Also they don't clean their glasses or cutlery properly, as they ran out! I have never been to a worse bar than this. It is terrible
