This is the authentic Srilankan restaurant of Waters Edge hotel. Beautiful atmosphere on the bank of Diyawannava lake. Very child friendly since they have ample space to play. Food is good, nothing extraordinary but the normal Sri Lankan cousine with rice n curry, hoppers, pittu, Srilankan sweets etc. They provide a personalized buffet and its quite innovative. Service is good and the staff is friendly. Recommended as a treat for a SL food and vibe lover.

The atmosphere is lovely, must be having capacity of 150 & above seatings. Food was excellent and yummy. The way bring in food is to set a buffet for table is beautiful. Staff are very kind and sincere, though only our table was occupied in the area where we sat there was a boy to attend to our need and services. This is one of the best restaurants available at waters edge. They serve authentic Sri Lankan food for lunch and dinner in buffet style. When we visited we also had performance from local dance groups. It was a very good experience. Note The distance from car park to the dining area is about 100 meters. My grand ma was finding it difficult to walk that much and we were given a wheelchair ♿. That was really a nice gesture.

A very good place (probably one of the best) to have an authentic Sri Lankan lunch buffet!! Great atmosphere with less noise and more space. Food is tasty with a reasonable spread. Ideal for a lunchtime office gathering. They serve beer too! Service is a bit slow but the food was so good the wait is worth it. 😊 Ample parking available close to the restaurant, which is actually a bit away from the Water’s Edge hotel. (Follow the “Thuna Paha” signs to get there) All in all pretty impressive. Highly rated!

This is one amazing place for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The location is beautiful right on the lake. We went for lunch on a working day and it was just serene, less crowded and quick service. They have complete glass walls on all four sides so you don't miss the beautiful setting even when you sit down to eat. They have small quaint bar outside very close to water and I'm sure t woujd be a great setting in the evening. The food while very close to Kerala cuisine and screams of similarities, the local produce and the variation in spices gives it an authentic Sri Lankan flare. I had the vegetarian platter but friends had the chicken, fish and other meats which was very good apparently. The service is also quick and great, they I fact put up show by bringing the food in authentic wicker basket which is carried by the women on their heads just like it was in the villages. While it is a small activity, it does adds to the overall authentic experience. Unfortunately, I have no idea on the cost of food as I did not pick up the bill this time.

One of the best places in Colombo to have a Sri Lankan full dinner buffet. They have all the varieties of Sri Lankan food in the buffet for an affordable price. The staff is very friendly and supportive. They look forward to serve you at their best. There was soft music. This is situated at the edge of the battaramulla lake in the Waters edge premises and it’s a nice surrounding. Ample parking available. We had a birthday celebration here and loved the place. Certainly recommend this place to anyone.

I tagged along with my wife who came to have lunch with some old school friends. We arrived via Uber and we were dropped off at the Waters Edge entrance. When we went inside and asked where the lunch was, they told us we need to take a shuttle to this place. The rest of our party showed up and we all took the shuttle together, it was a nice air conditioned van that fit all of us. Thuna Paha is a nice place with covered outdoor seating. The weather was beautiful and there was a refreshing light breeze. They served a small buffet right behind our table which was only for our party. I really liked this concept of a buffet just for us. Service is excellent and they are constantly available and always making sure you have what you need as well as cleaning off your table if anything spills, even if it’s just 2 grains of rice that fell off your plate. The food was good, although there were a few items that I never eat so I skipped those. The fish curry and chicken curry were really good. Then they serve a dessert platter for two people sitting across from each other and that was perfect. My favorite curd and treacle was on it as well as watalappan and they were excellent. I recommend trying this place. I will try it again but this time I will ask if I can select what is on the buffet that comes to the table. I have no complaints about this place. For 6 people, our bill came to a little over Rs 31,000.

This is one of the best restaurants available at Waters edge. Recently visited for an engagement function there. They have separate cubicles to have a small gathering. This place can be named a good place to have authentic Sri Lankan food. Parking is also available close to the restaurant area.

You will be spoiled with choices and no one will leave without being absolutely stuffed up to their ears with food. Service is at 110% too andt the prices are quite reasonable as well. Best SriLankan meals 😊 loved it. Traditional environment with traditional food. Yummy 😋 I tried dinner as well as lunch. The personal buffet set is there. I would highly recommend this for a perfect family time. We had a great time there. They ll bring all the dishes in a traditional way. It looks nice. Also the curries are really tasty. Vegetarians if we request, according to that they ll make it. So it was wonderful to spend the time there and enjoy the nature view as well.

Good value for money. The buffet food spread is pretty decent and has good taste. The desserts were good too, although the milk toffee and coconut rocks weren't much to ride home about. All in all, good food with pretty decent value for money. The staff was friendly and courteous too.

This has to be the best place to taste Sri Lankan food and the culture. Foods were served fresh and had the best taste just everything in the right amount. While eating, we also got to see the Sri Lankan dance, which was a cherry on top. The ambience is perfect. It sits right next to a river and in an open area. Serves a Sri Lankan buffet. Rice and curries are served in a mini buffet right next to your table. And action station items are served directly to table. It was not properly communicated whether we could ask for extra servings from action stations. Food was really tasty. The place is very spacious and music is not too loud. So you can have a good conversation without being disturbed.

Great traditional SRL food. Visited twice in March 2022. Had a reservation for 20 people and they did excellent. From the manager to all the serving staff, everyone was very professional and attentive. The food was great and we had a great time. They have a cultural show at night on Saturday, I believe.

I went twice for dinner in this place. It is a quiet and big place. A Sinhala song is singing in the background. The foods are really good. We can taste Sinhalese foods ( What I meant is that dishes which Sinhala people generally eat). The most tastiest item for me is wade (වඩේ). I like desserts also: curds and trickle, වටලප්පන්,fruit 🍉 🍍 , candy 🍬. I think their secret is that they use fresh ingredients to prepare dishes.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Thunapaha Restaurant in Waters Edge Hotel Colombo, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by a team of incredibly friendly staff, from the security personnel to the attentive servers. Had a family outing there, reserved a table at advance and it was ready when we arrived. Personalised buffet,with reasonable variety for vege and Non veg items. I have heard about this place for some time. Always wanted to try it out. My first impression upon arriving there was not a good one because the access is through a construction area. Availability of parking is a plus point. Ambiance is good despite poor maintenance of shelters, especially floor and walkways. Food was just ok, but not value for money spend.

Ordered via uber today, and I'm quite impressed. I was craving yellow rice, so was looking for a place to order from, this popped up. Eventhough the rating is lower on Uber, decided to give it a go because the price didn't feel over the top, and description mentioned fried fish being included :) The food arrived in good condition, main dish was packed separately, and so were the papadam, cutlet, fried fish and dried curd chillies. The food was tasty, quite sufficient, and value for money. I didn't like the other curries included in today's pack (some weird pumpkin, the smaller type of eggplant, dried onions of sorts and dhal). This picture doesn't include the main curry and others.

This was my first visit to Thuna Paha. There is an AC room walled in by glass available if you want to sit inside and enjoy the view. We sat outside, where we could enjoy the lake breeze. The food is brought to the table and it is a variety of Sri Lankan food. Everything was delicious with lots of flavors. The service was exceptional with very attentive staff. This restaurant is near the Diyawannawa lake , next to Diyatha, managed by The Waters edge. A very spacious place with a large court yard. A very good place for family gatherings / to meet friends. Cultural show is also included. The variety of Sri lankan food served are very good. The food is served seperately to the tables and you can eat to your hearts content. The desserts are also Sri lankan and the stomach can't handle the load. The meal is rounded off with a "yara tea". The experience was novel , intersting and interactive. Wish there were a more variety in the dances. The staff was very courteous and ready to help. Wheel chair accessible. The audio music played was very soft and appropriate. Felt the fresh friut juices offered outside the menu was over priced. The surprise is no water is included in the main meal and we were charged for mineral water! Parking is a problem and go early. Closing time is 11pm. A good place to relax for a above average wager and a foody with a personal touch. P.s. security personnel are rude!

Serving can be confusing and what is included for the price and not. If you get milk tea ask them to go easy on the sugar . Ambiance and location is awesome along with the staff. If it's a nice day (most days of the year in SL is) opt for the outdoor. Even the airconed rooms are all glass if you prefer in. Check for days of cultural shows on the day.
