Fun old pub to visit. Nice servers and the food came out relatively quick. The fish was cooked well, crispy breading but soft on inside. Great selection of beers as well!

A beautiful pub/restaurant inside and out. We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon without booking, the staff were very accommodating and found us a table upstairs, the female member of staff made us feel so welcome! The ENTIRE menu is Gluten Free so my companion was very impressed. Centrally located by the iconic Cathedral so is easy to find. Enjoy. M

Found this place on Google maps, was looking for somewhere local in the city that did a Sunday roast, and I'm so pleased we found this restaurant. We had our 2 small dogs with us. The website didn't say pet friendly but we asked out of curiosity and thank goodness they were. We sat in the garden area, which the dogs loved. The bartender was more than forthcoming and provided a bowl of water for them. They even had a little run playing ball and met some pet friendly people. Food was a tad expensive but worth it because its gluten free/dairy free, everything is clearly labelled on there menu. You get a very good portion and it's made fresh, we could taste the herbs, which was divine. Atmosphere was lovely. They even do live entertainment here, which we intend to visit in the near future. Service was great and has disabled access. Thank you for making our experience a happy one.

TGC is the oldest pub in Coventry (One of the oldest in The Midlands). Built circa 1583, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st and established as a public house circa 1661, during the reign of Charles II (The year of his coronation). The Golden Cross boasts traditional Tudor features which include: jettied upper floors with exposed beams, the pub also features a Dragon Beam which makes it possible for the jettied floors to go around the corners. These historic features alone makes it worthwhile visiting The Golden Cross.

What a stunning old pub. The staff were exceptionally happy and attentive. My son and I had fish & chips which very yummy indeed. Perhaps a few more chips would be helpful. My only dig is this: It is such a beautiful olde pub but in the inside, apart from the beams and paved flooring, there is nothing there to make you feel like you are seaped in history. No pictures, olde photos etc...

What a superb restaurant! Discovered by chance 3 years ago, and pleased to see you're still in business. The only place I know where everything on the menu is gluten free by default, and virtually everything dairy free... without even having to ask, and a big varied selection. Very tasty too .. today we had the fish and chips and falafels. Wish you were closer or we'd be back frequently!

The bar staff are very polite and welcoming and the pub is an iconic part of the city - still hosting live music, as it has done for many years. Wide selection of drinks and a beer garden - perfect for those Summer days or crafty cigarettes outside!

My friends and I were on a mystery tour coach trip and were staying in Coventry. We discovered this little gem later on, and it absolutely made our evening! The live music was brilliant and we enjoyed a sing song or ten. The evening was full of laughter and fun, and we'd definitely recommend this place.

I went for a Sunday roast with my friend. There were plenty of empty tables downstairs but we were seated upstairs, which was significantly colder and had a family with a crying child. There was a real lack of atmosphere and server attention and the food was below par. It would be a two star but I gave one extra for at least being gluten free and having veggie and vegan options. Having had a decent steak here before I am deeply disappointed.

Great pub with a friendly atmosphere and a good selection of real ales and ciders it wasn't badly priced, Their menu is completely gluten free which is great news for celiacs! They have a nicely kept outdoor area with tables. Enjoyed a few afternoon pints with friends.

Great food..you do have to wait but it's freshly made so what do you expect! Well worth it. Love how they cater for gluten free and dairy free vegetarian diets which is often missed my pubs. Really friendly and helpful staff. Love it

This place is pet friendly! That was amazing, considering the other places close by just sent us outside, and with the rain, that was impossible. The food is simply delicious, and the vibes of the place are really cool, we felt very welcome. It also has an inside patio for smoking.

A beautiful pub with huge character. Went here for the first time and it felt safe, had a great atmosphere, and as the evening progressed there was music and dancing. I will definitely be back for a pint on open mic night, and possibly some food too as they look to have a good selection of dishes to choose from 😁

If you're coeliac / gluten / wheat intolerant, then this is the place for you! The whole menu is gluten free. The food is excellent & there are lots of vegan and vegetarian choices on the menu as well. It's in the centre of the city, so ideal for lunch or dinner & tables can be booked online via the website. We'd definitely go back.

One of my favourite coventry spots. Beware that the floor is uneven upstairs - you feel drunk before you’ve started! Great selection of drinks including alcohol free options. The menu is all gluten free which I thought meant it wouldn’t taste good but it’s really good food.

Popped in for a couple of drinks before Lloyd Cole concert at the Cathedral. Really nice place with friendly locals (what I would call a "proper" pub), surrounded by noisier, trendier bars which we like to avoid! The barman was very friendly and helpful with recommendations for local gin & mixers. We will have to try the food next time as it looked really good. Hope to return if we're ever back in the area.

Went in as a group of 6. We had to shuffle some chairs about but did find space. It wasn't crowded. The atmosphere is nice, and staff are pleasant. Drinks are more expensive than I'd have expected. There was a live band but I didn't notice what they were called.

First 🌟 will located a stones throw away from the cathedrals bombed during WW2 that were restored, so after site seeing great place to stop for a drink. The oldest pub in town. Second ✨ good selection of beer The place seemed cozy enough even tho they've chose to modernize the place by painting everything white. Very clean. Third 🌟 the bar maid was pleasant and funny. Service was a bit slow. It had 2 seats at the bar and plenty about the place including upstairs for functions. Lots of a 🌟 for the tables took a while to clean, cleaned one table and not the others lol. Wait time for food was long. So we didn't eat. Loss of the fifth 🌟 for over all. Not really what I was expecting for the oldest pub in town had one drink, still worth the visit just the same. There's a poki machine not a fan.

One of the oldest pubs in the city centre bang next to the Old Cathedral. Good selection of beers, tastefully done out in keeping with the age of the building. Nice atmosphere with a good age range of punters. Live music at the weekends upstairs with free admission. Not massive so if you want to get in and get a seat when the bands are on get up there early.

Incredible food! Huge amount of options for dairy and gluten-free. Harissa salmon was amazing! Genuinely can't recommend this enough.

Decent selection of Cask Ales in the oldest pub in Coventry, what more do you want? Will come back here to try the food menu that caters for everyone, including gluten free and vegan.

One of the oldest buildings in Coventry. A favourite with the locals and history buffs alike. Good vibes and the pub features an outdoor seating area as well.

Ancient city centre half timbered building. We went in for a pint and it has a small interior. All tables with all available seating was occupied by diners so we stood at the small bar and felt uncomfortable as more drinkers came in and found us in t the only available drinking space. I did have a good pint of Bath Ales, Gem. Worth a look inside but I would book to eat or take pot luck if just having a drink. Nothing bad here, just small.

Still a nice pub, but hasn't quite got the same atmosphere as it used too.. Still time moves on and so must we. Will use again. Beer was nice

Visited the Golden Cross for the first time in a long time! - no live music as advertised - place more than half empty and no atmosphere - told couldn't get a red wine unless I bought the bottle!!! Used to be one of the best venues to spend your Saturday night!!
