My Partner and I went to Cooked Hat Pub & Grill because we stayed in the Cooked Hat Hotel, so it was pretty convenience as we didn't have to think about dinner after long day exploring Coventry. Staff - very friendly and helpful. Always were around so if we needed to ask for anything, it was easy to get hold of them. Food - we had Sharer Starter which was chicken and for mains we had pub classic Steak and Ale Pie and Peri Peri Chicken with rice and to finish off we had desserts Strawberry Eton Mess. Food was well presented, freshly cooked and it was very tasty. We didn't have to wait long for meal in between. Restaurant - it was a bit of mix feelings. Overal Restaurant was clean but there were few left overs on the tables and never been cleaned same as there was few foods on the floor and despite waitress passed many times, it never been picked up. Overal we had a great experience. Great food, friendly staff, food price is acceptable and it was pretty quiet. I would fully recommend the restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

Reasonable, I guess. The food was okay in quality and quantity and it was moderately expensive. About £20 per person with a drink. Was first put on a wonky table and then moved. Server was indifferent to us and for some reason we completely lost our table service after the mains arrived. Quite disappointing. Wetherspoon has much better offerings as this Greene King pub didn't feel any more upmarket at all, despite costing significantly more. Won't be in a hurry to go back to this chain.

Ordered scampi, chips and mushy peas with chargrilled asparagus, beans and tenderstem broccoli with parsley butter what arrived was garden peas which they changed and no parsley butter . I couldn't be bothered to complain about the parsley butter dressing ( Which isn't really like me at all !) Next night I ordered ruddle ale steak pie chips and mushy peas with tenderstem broccoli green beans and chargrilled asparagus this time I complained about the greens there was no parsley butter again and the asparagus wasn't chargrilled when it was remade it was better but this time well over cooked there was no chewyness to any of the greens (I'll try again tomorrow)

Date of visit: 07/12/22 Visited during lunch time with 2 other people. I ordered the cheese and chutney toastie. Order arrived, the topping consisted of chutney with no sign of cheese and the underside was burnt black. Advised one of the female servers, she shrugged her shoulders and didn’t offer a replacement or my money back. Left the burnt offerings and inedible topping and vacated. I live locally and am not inclined to ever return after numerous poor sub standard food experiences at this establishment.

A superb place for anyone. Environment was simply nice. Staff were very kind so keep it up! After accidentally spilling my portion of sweet potato chips (very lovely) I got a new portion quickly without hassle and the ribs were a lovely big portion which was worth the £22. Cheese cake with ice cream tasted delicious, had a good texture but I would have preferred a larger portion for £7.

Arrived and they couldn't find our booking. They reluctantly put a table together for us when I shown them the booking confirmation. Put us up steps when we had someone in a mobility scooter. Provided broken high chair and when I asked for a different one because of this, I still didn't get brought one after 20 minutes so went on search for one myself. Meals took a long time and were below average. Chicken tasted like rubber. One of our parties meals was completely inedible due to black burger and stale bun - we had this knocked off our bill. Service very slow. Toilets filthy. We last came a few years ago and had a bad experience. Tried it again now after a few years in hopes of improvement but if anything, it's even worse. We won't be back!

Wow! Best breakfast we’ve had anywhere, super yummy and lots of it! Great value for money. Becky and Liz were exceptional and went out of their way to make our breakfast. You are a real credit to the pub and hotel. Our room was very nice and comfortable and clean. Had all the amenities you could need. Would highly recommend for food and stay !

Staff were really lovely and the service was super quick. Nice relaxing environment to sit and have breakfast and chat after with a coffee.

Took my family here for brunch as they came to visit. Decor is beautiful, and the food was lovely too. (Get the pancakes!) Holly was friendly and attentive as our server.

Popped in for quick dinner and luckily there were tables available. Very nice and friendly service and staff and quite quick as well. 3 stars because I wouldn’t rate food as highest quality, it was not bad but not awesome either, bit of meeh. Bigger drink variety than in other green king pubs which was nice as well.

Decent meal, everything has gone up I know so prices I guess are reasonable. Would have liked some proper sized roasts instead of the scraps of the end of the bag but the biggest issue was the wait for food. Ordered 2 mains and took around 50 minutes to arrive at 5pm on Sunday evening. Not massively busy. Nice place to go though and would go again.

Overall, the hotel is OK. The food was good and the location was also good. But there were many small things in the room that needed fixing. Toilet seat absolutely loose, Toilet door latch didn't fit the keep so the doors couldn't be closed. The soap dispenser was hanging empty in the bathroom, etc. The only thing in the room was perfect is mattress. So I had a good nice sleep.

Only one bath towel in a family room booked for 3 people, no coffee or biscuits just 2 tea bags and 2 mugs for 3 people, the lock on the toilet door was broken, the shower was broken. Mentioned the shower and towels at check out, no apology so couldn't be bothered with the rest. Restaurant service good, accommodation not so much :(

Fantastic meal with Grandma, my kids and husband. The food was great for the price but most importantly the staff were fantastic. They accommodated a table move at their busiest time because my mother in law was struggling with the banquette seating. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and they were fine to swap peas for salad for some of the other diners. Grandma's gammon was soft, a great portion and much tastier than a supermarket steak. It's next to a busy road but set far back and has a lovely outdoor seating area and beautiful red brick building. The kids meals were great and plenty big enough for a 9 and 12 year old (especially the chocolate mania). My husband said the gents toilets could do with being cleaner but the ladies was clean and tidy. Overall couldnt ask for better value for money and would 100% choose this place over a Harvester or similar. First good meal we've had in Coventry and better than the more expensive Saxon Mill or the Royal Oak

We called into this pub for lunch after a morning out with the family. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The menu had a great choice at competitive prices and the kids menu had a good choice too. Our Guide Dog puppy in training was also made very welcome too. Nice sized car park and outdoor seating area

Stayed locally, ate here three nights, food very reasonably priced, good portions and everything tasted great. Drinks very reasonably priced, staff very friendly and talkative. Definitely recommend 👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The rooms are in a separate building to the pub, but reception is in the pub, would have been okay if we hadn't dragged our cases to the hotel before noticing the sign Rooms comfortable and clean, not noisy at night during our stay We ate in the pub, all had steaks, beautifully cooked Breakfast had a good choice but isn't available early enough at weekends, we just had cereals as we had to be on our way. Overall, we enjoyed our stay other than panicking about getting away on time. Would recommend a stay here as generally very nice.

Met friends from different locations here as middle ground for Sunday lunch which was very tasty (roast pork) wanted miny pud and coffee but they had run out of beans!! Manager not in to complain too! Had chocolate browny with bourbon which was actually very good

My work colleagues and I had a meal here today. Whilst they didn't have the dish I wanted it was easy to choose an alternative. The waitress holly was fantastic and attentive. Food was reasonable for the price. Will return during our stay in Coventry.

The bar area is outstanding as a when you haven’t booked and don’t know what you’re doing. The staff work really hardy. And the food is great, we had the starter main and dessert and really couldn’t fault anything. The food was bought out quickly and very hot, the bar staff were attentive and very friendly. Thank you Liam

Good food, good service.. but come on now and sort those sticky tables! The staff are doing what they should in the way they cleaning them. The varnish on the tables cannot cope with this. They feel sticky and unclean. Otherwise fine. Would consider going back.

Although two people in the group were using walking frames, the room that we were using had three steps but were manageable with assistance. The decor was nice, the menu varied and the staff were very good. What I would like to see is more vegetarian meals. The worst part was the wait for the meals.

We stopped here for food, Sunday, the waiter service was good however the reason why I gave this place 2 stars was the food. My pie, potatoes were ok and one of the roast dinners was good. My wife had the salmon which was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. The cooking of the fish was very poor, the skin was not crispy, in fact it was soft and rubbery. Look like the fish was only cooked on the flesh side and not turned over. We took the skin off as it was unedable and placed it one side. It came with a few potatoes and vegetables. portion sizes are very small. I think I had one dessert spoon of peas and 4 tiny potatoes. My son had a hair in his food, the duty manager dealt with it and removed the meal from our final bill. They offered us deserts but needed to go and apologised. I have been to a few Greene King pubs, this has to be one of the worst. I cannot fault the duty managers customer service however the quality of the food is very poor. When you look in more detail the place really needs a Gordon Ramsey makeover. Looks very tired and poorly looked after. Would I go there again, unfortunately no.

Staff friendly Food - just okay. Ordered mix sea food from grill section but everything was so bland and perhaps steamed not grilled. Salad was pretty fresh which was the only thing to enjoy 😑 .. however 3 stars because nice dessert, chocolate brownie was very good, food served fresh and friendly staff

Lovely lunch time menu at great prices. The toastie with 1/2 chips is huge and tasted amazing (New York Delhi) Great friendly service and timely.

Lovely place. Quaint. Clean toilets, outside drinking area. Go regularly. Greene king hotel attached. Never tried the hotel but, but bar staff are very polite, we’ll uniformed and we’ll trained. Good selection of beers. Can’t fault the place. Used to be a harvester type place, but they have gone up in quality of service.

Arrived at teatime we were seated quickly. But within a few minutes we were moved as the table had been booked and they made an error no issue. We were seated at our new table but then service was really slow. Took a while for the waitress to come and take our order however good arrived quickly after and it was really tasty.

If you expect fancy, artistically arranged food that leaves you still wanting a kebab on the way home this is not for you. Good, well cooked food for a decent price? Get in here! Eaten here many times; including, once, during heavy snowfall which had closed everywhere else. The grub is awesome. The drinks? I have never had a bad beer from here; unlike a Wetherspoons where I have never had a good draught pint. Give it a visit; Summer is great with the beer garden (which despite being close to a dual carriageway is amazing quiet) Winter? Cozy and comfy. Never stayed at the hotel sharing the site (on account of living ten minutes down the road) but I'm sure it is just as good!

Chris, Shelly and the team have been absolutely amazing!! Earlier in the year i was trying to arrange a christening reception for my son (for after restrictions were lifted) out of emailing and calling 7 different places, Chris was the ONLY one to get back in touch! We had a fantastic day and the food and service was outstanding. Since then we also booked a 40th birthday party and the staff shone just as bright that evening too! Since then we have become regular diners in the restaurant and never had a bad meal! I wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend this place for an event or even a lunch/dinner!

Absolutely lovely meal today for 9 of us. All served at the same time, all hot, and very delicious. Popped in for lunch before a long drive back to Portsmouth. Lovely staff, and very welcoming. Well done, and thank you, will definitely visit again.

Not a luxury hotel / A pub with a separate accommodation block. Bedroom was clean and well equipped. Menu basic but food was good and breakfast enormous. Well located just off a roundabout on A46 East of Coventry. Traffic noise minimal. Staff good.

I only nipped in for a soft drink (as I was driving) and as a meet up place to see friends. Good car park and entrance, nice clean pub. Soft drinks seemed a bit pricey £3.20 for a lemonade

Don’t use for Sunday dinner. Came out cold, 2 thin slices of cheap beef and the mash was definitely packet mash. ‘Luxury’ cauliflower cheese had a bit of grated cheese melted on it. 0 flavor. Rip off. Waitress just looked at us saying nothing as if I was lying which was uncomfortable also.

  • 3/5 Amy B. 1 year ago on Google
Ordered via the app, food came out before drinks & cutlery. Yoghurt was missing from pancakes, had to send back to have yoghurt added. Have eaten at a few Green King restaurants and the kids meal here was smaller than at the others. Waitress was kind and helpful. Didn't have to wait long for the food.

Hi, booked a table for 10 on Friday and Saturday night. Was disappointed that on the Friday, some of the menu items were not available. Even more disappointed on the Saturday night, when additional items had become unavailable, this included the majority of the steak options and side dishes e.g. onion rings. Otherwise excellent all round. Will still be returning next year for our annual September weekend away.

Seemed short of staff.... Very slow service. Food OK, we had the Xmas menu, good portions but too salty for me.
