The Şile Feneri, a historical lighthouse still in use, is located on the western Black Sea coast in the northeast town Şile of Istanbul Province, Turkey Commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I (reigned 1839–1861). it was constructed in 1859 by French engineers. In 1860, the lighthouse went into service.

Very amazing view point for black sea. Both summer and winter season show its own colors of beauty. It gives you a goosebumps when you will be standing the viewpoint near lighthouse and can sea a huge tide of the sea. Copyrights for pictures ©️

A friend of mine said that this placed was a nice coffee shop. We were a bunch of friends with family members; we happened to be not too far from the coffee shop. We decided to drive there; incidentally, it was the recent moon eclipse sighting. It was partly cloudy, and the clouds made it difficult to spot the eclipse, but the nature scenery made the outing well worth the drive. Earlier after we arrived that day, we went to the indoor seating area. We tried to order; unfortunately, the power had gone off, and some of the drinks that required power to make were unavailable. Indoor, the temperature was rather hot; we decided to move out to the outdoor seating area and wait for the power. Not too long after we sat outside, it decided to rain. We quickly went back inside. Succumbed to staying indoor, we ordered some drinks and decided to just visit and enjoy the view. The power finally was restored. A few minutes later, the rain stopped, and the sun was partially out. We carried our drinks and moved to the outdoor. The coffee shop is on a hill with a 300-degree, unrestricted view. At one point in time, someone decided to build the lighthouse on the property; it added beauty and uniqueness. With nice weather and a bottomless pot of coffee, I could spend hours in this outdoor. The prices were reasonable, and the service was OK. I am looking forward to going back there soon.

Sile lighthouse or fenarie as in Turkish excellent view 👌 with great seafood restaurants and Cafe around . One of my favorites towns before leaving Istanbul, usually spend a night or two relaxing and enjoying the small old shops and tasty food 😋

The Sile Lighthouse commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I (r. 1839–1861), it was constructed in 1859 by French engineers. Şile Lighthouse is a picturesque destination along the coastline, offering stunning views of the blue sea. The lighthouse stands tall and adds a touch of charm to the landscape. The natural surroundings, including the clear waters and rugged cliffs, create a beautiful backdrop for nature lovers and photographers. The lighthouse's classic design and panoramic views from the top are breathtaking. It's a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts, history buffs, and those seeking tranquility in the beauty of nature. If you want to go there by yourself, the easiest way is coming to Üsküdar in Asian side of Istabbul, there are some bus standing close to metro station every morning and you can check the return time and come back after enjoying your time there in the evening.

I had the pleasure of visiting the old lighthouse in Sile, and it left me in awe. Located in the charming town of Sile near the picturesque coast of the Black Sea, just north of Istanbul, this historic lighthouse is a true gem. Not only is it a mesmerizing piece of history, but it's also the second largest active lighthouse in the world, which is truly impressive. The panoramic views from the top of the lighthouse are breathtaking, offering a stunning vista of the Black Sea. The location is perfect for a serene getaway, and the lighthouse itself is beautifully preserved. It's a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape. I highly recommend a visit to the Sile Lighthouse for an unforgettable experience. It's a testament to both Turkey's rich history and the natural beauty of the Black Sea coast. Don't miss the opportunity to explore this remarkable site.

Worth a visit! There’s a really good coffee place close to the striped light house that offers cake and good coffee with a view. If you have the time it’s also possible to walk down to the rocky beach and get your feet wet in the Black Sea. I didn’t see anyone swimming - perhaps the currents are strong, so please investigate that before dipping. Besides the lighthouse there’s also a park and a bunch of places towards the harbour that offer great views.

The light house itself is not very remarkable, the views are breathtaking. Definely worth more than a quick half hour visit....perhaps breakfast or even a couple of nights.

Don’t forget to visit this small city next to your tour in Istanbul (almost 50 minutes a way), awesome weather with great sea front and beaches. Also it has a unique lake which you can rent a bbq grill with Burning charcoal with affordable price (recommended to provide the marinated bbq meat or chicken from the city) and then you will have a not forgettable experience 😁👌🏻

To reach there by car is not sensible because of park places but by walking is also a torture. The view is really nice. You can capture nice photos around there or enjoy the view.

Great place, amazing view. Unfortunately we were in a hurry and couldn't stay a lot in Şile. You need at least 1 day to walk everywhere, visit all places here, enjoy the sound of the waves and have a rest.
