Thank you for the WORST HOSTEL EXPERIENCE! I wish I could give this place negative stars but google is too generous... First, the original reservation was not honored for a group and they split us in different rooms. Second, the rooms are dirty and it smells like homeless people. So overall the feeling is of staying in a homeless shelter but you have to pay for it. Third, the staff removed my things without my permission and some of my clothing was missing. I was never able to recover my things. I wasted my time communicating with the hostel trying to understand what happened and it was like talking to a wall. Completely disorganized communication internally, denial and refusal to take responsibility for actions that caused loss of my property. Final response: "There is unfortunately not much more that we can do about it except offering you a few free drinks whenever you want at our bar." So highly recommended homeless shelter experience if you want to GET ROBBED BY THE STAFF and then have "a few free drinks" as a consolation. As a bonus, they LIE in response to negative reviews left by people in my group claiming that I had to check out and didn't do so. That's a LIE and that's typical behaviour of the hostel in everything they did. As a matter of fact, the checkout time was 11AM and I tried to check out at 4AM only to discover my things were removed and some items were missing! Again, Thank you Le Flaneur for the WORST HOSTEL EXPERIENCE!

Beds were clean and convenient, the hostel crew at reach when I had questions. But : we didn't get all the rooms we booked; some of our stuff was lost during room cleaning.

Really great place! Friendly staff, amazing facility in a great neighbourhood. The rooms were very clean. Everything is pretty secure: Boxes that can get locked with a padlock. After checking out I could put my baggage in an individual compartment that also was locked. Thanks for the great time, I will surely return

The staff was wonderful to me at this place. They refunded a night for me when had to change my plans, and wrre very helpful and informative to all questions I had. So before I get into the meat of my review I wanted to thank them. Truly great staff. As bad as it sounds, I've lived in homeless shelters before and this place reminded me strongly of those places, the smells, the location in the city. Alot of things not going for it. My bed was clean thankfully, and my items were moved to a different bunk for me which I greatly appreciated. I was nearly mugged outside this hostel as well, in broad daylight. Luckily I was able to diffuse the situation and keep my belongings. But it left a bad taste in mouth for the location of the establishment. The rooms and bathrooms had a strong body odor smell at all times, making it almost impossible to be able to relax in the beds for very long. Again, my thanks to the staff. Very helpful and welcoming. Keep doing what you're doing. I just don't believe this is the safest location in lyon

Le Flâneur is a place like no other. You can definitely feel the social vibe of the place, where people from everywhere are meeting and sharing together (and I am not only speaking of nationalities !). They organise weekly events, like concerts or karaokes, and the atmosphere is really laid back. Big shout out for the staff that seem to really love working here. Thanks again for the good times

It looks like a good place to spend the night if one is a night cluber. I didn't get a room here when I visited

Very nice place! I recommend you to go there! Staff are very nice and welcoming also the place is very cute. Ask for earplugs if you don’t want to be disturbed by snoring noise ;) If you want to make friends easily book your reservation on Hostelworld, where they offer you a group chat with some people in the same city or hostel as you!

Room was a little cramped, but sufficient! Truly enjoyed my stay. This hostel has an event every Thursday and they’re fun. I participated in a “Blind Test” or music guessing game. Wish I had gotten there for karaoke, but fun! Great folks and great atmosphere to meet new people and chat.

Very cool guesthouse with a nice staff. The rooms were clean. The whole place had cool art and nice decorations which is always a plus. They offer a safe place to lock your bike if you're on a bicycle trip. The breakfast deal is almost unbeatable. Would definitely go again if I'm back in Lyon .

Great place, the warmest welcome ever! Really nice community, all kinds of people here. Sad I only stayed for one night, but I'll come back!Ofcourse, sharing a room with so many people comes with inconvenience, but nothing the staff wasn't aware of! One thing to be aware of, as other reviews have said, the location doesn't feel that comfy at night, but with headphones on, we can deal with it.

A lot of people staying at the hostel seemed to live there long term, in other words not a lot of backpackers or younger people staying there and a pretty strange vibe in the common areas. Facilities are basic, rooms got extremely hot during the night as most dorms don’t have AC. No curtains or outlets by beds and thin mattresses. Staff however was very friendly and accommodating. I did not feel unsafe in the area however would probably book another hostel if I return to Lyon.

awful stay! I do not recommend it. To begin with, it was very hot inside, there was no ventilation, the room was very small amd smelled like rotten lettuce , the bathrooms were barely clean., the only good thing is that in the breakfast room in the morning it is very good

Loved this hostel! It’s super clean and easy to find, everyone in the staff is very friendly. The water pressure in the showers is great, and this is the only hostel i’ve seen with a shower and toilet accessible for wheelchair users. 10/10 would totally recommend it :)

I stayed for only one night, the receptionist (night shift) was friendly and helpful. The room was cramped and cleanness was fair. I would not suggest for the breakfast, only bread and some cereal. The receptionist ( morning shift) was rude. She gave me a long face and warned me ( yes, warning!! How ridiculous?! ) because the man slept underneath my bed complained me making noise when I packing my stuff in the dark ( even in 10 mins and was not on the bed!!). She was definitely the friend of that man because she was talking with him for long with smile but gave me a black face. I would suggest her to advise the man to stay in a private room but not a share dormitory and not give me this nonsense warning!

It was my first time staying in a hostel like this and I was very pleasantly surprised. Although the room was made for 16 people, it felt safe and private. The staff was really helpful and kind, the reception is open 24 hours, which is amazing. I really enjoyed my stay and would definetely recommend this hostel. The only thing is, the rooms were very hot but there is nothing much the hostel could do about that - there already was a ventilator next to the beds.

Except for one thing, which I will get to in a bit, I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff are so friendly and helpful, which I definitely appreciated when I didn't quite understand their French. The rooms are a bit warm, but I didn't except any A/C. The wifi is really good, and the lobby/bar area is a great place to hang out and chill. The crates under the bed for storage are very roomy and fit my bags easily. The one single thing that takes a stat off this review is the bathrooms. Don't worry, they're clean and the showers work fine. However. The smell. It's like something crawled into the walls and died. It's absolutely foul. I have a sensitive sense of smell, so sometimes I know I just have to deal with things. I've stayed in places where it is obvious the last tenant smoked and the smell hasn't disappated, despite cleaning efforts. That's fine. I get it. I just don't like dreading going to the bathroom because it means I will be hit with a wall of funk of unknown origin. That's literally the only issue I have with this place. If that gets fixed, or if you're okay breathing out of your mouth for a few minutes, 5/5 stars

Excellent price and good installations. I only stayed for one night in the 16 people room. Reception guy was very kind and talked Spanish. Also all staff very kind. Is not far from Train station Part Dieu, but if you are traveling heavy, consider you'll break a sweat (even taking tram).

Nice hostel with helpful staff. Main problem was not with the hostel but the location as when walking to the hostel (between 7-11pm) it seemed that every other group of guys would make some kind of vulgar comment to my female friends which made us all rather uncomfortable. Apart from that was a great experience and will likely return

I liked staying here. It has a good, large bar and area to socialize. Rooms were enough, having a private bathroom, locker and a place to put telephone, glasses etc in the bed. Rooms were hot even though the weather was not so hot. That can be problematic if you are staying in summer if rooms don't have ac. The kitchen can be crowded in evenings but it has a enough area and equipment to cook with. There are young travelers as well as people who seem to be like staying for a long term. I liked the staff and their attitude. I am regretful for not planning to stay for more than 1 day.

Very nice atmosphere and nice staff. Great location, not that far from the old center. Everything was very clean. Beds were a little uncomfortable, but overall would definitely recommend!

Great environment for sleeping and enjoying the bar. Clean beds and confortable sleep. A walkable distance to the center or both bus or train stations.

I stayed for two nights in a room for 6, and one in a private room. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The common space was also very comfortable and welcoming; lively and full of interesting people. A workers cooperative, this place has a knowledgeable and welcoming staff who go the extra mile which offsets it’s being a bit rough around the edges at times. Also I should mention that the neighbourhood in which it’s located is a nice working class area, with quite a few nice restaurants and cafes around.

You get what you pay for. They offer an excellent price. Most of the staff were friendly. The rooms have quite a large number of bunks for just one bathroom / shower (one for guys, one for girls). Fortunately there is a larger bank of washrooms and showers as well, but you have to traverse the hostel to get there. The breakfast is just coffee, baguette and some spreads. Pretty common for France but often you will have fresh croissants, and chocolat au pain as well. I think the biggest downside of the hostel is that it's not in the best location, and the street outfront can be very noisy. I would recommend Le Flanêneur guest House for solo travelers passing through lyon on a 1 to 2 day stay. For anything else I would recommend shelling out some extra cash to find something nicer.

It was hard to sleep on the first night of my stay but I joined the party. The second night I bought some earplugs 😂

16 OCT *BEDBUGS* Upon arrival I sat in the common space and saw a bedbug crawling on me. I gave a warning to the reception and they said they had warnings from other clients and they can treat it case by case. I understand that it would be inconvenient to the hostel business-wise to communicate this issue to travellers. However, it is extremely concerning that each traveller is potentially streading the bedbugs from this hostel to others, to all types of public spaces and to their own homes. This is a public health hazard. I don't recommend staying here as it is infested. If not for this, I am sure this is a wonderful hostel to stay at with friendly staff. But not in this period...

👍👍 The most important piece of advice is to skip the long queue and sit down to order your delicious ice-cream. There was a vast variety of flavours and some were very unusual and original. Though it was quite expensive I would definitely recommend it as a novel and unforgettable ice cream experience!!
