I might have given this place 3 stars, except for the price / value ratio. Started with rose sparkling wine which was not so great, to burnt and hard bread. We ordered Lyon fixed menu, 3 course meal that started with French onion soup, followed by gnnochi and tart aux pralines dessert. Sadly, I've had better French onion soups in the Netherlands, and yes, even in America. For goodness sakes, there is "French" in the name of the dish! Super hard bread, hardly much cheese, and rather blend bouillon. Gnochi was also tasteless, though the sauce was good, and rice dish was good while it was warm. Not so much after it cooled down. The best part of the dessert, with all due respect, was the yogurt ice cream. One of the rare times I left dessert unfinished. The service was okay - not spectacular, and not so terrible. But for > €100 lunch with tips for 2 people, we could have had much better experience. I might have given it 4 stars if the price were €40. Doubtful I would return, as there are so many good places in Lyon.

The price/quality ratio is not that much, You can find much better places in the region for far less for the same quality. Their bathrooms are better than the food tho.

Nice waiters, ambiance and location, but the food is depressing. Watery soup, unpleasant sauces, and enough gelatine to give desserts the texture of sweaty plastic. An average amateur cook with an afternoon’s warning could reasonably be expected to do better. How can chefs invest so little passion and skill into their vocation?

Nice for dinner and an authentic lyonnaise cuisine experience. Slightly overpriced but I guess the decor and atmosphere makes it worth it. Staff is nice but aren't able to accommodate special requests. It seems to run quite strictly. Food is tasty and they have a grand selection of wines.

So Over-Rated. Went for breakfast. Room Temperature was unbearably HOT. Service: Super cold and staff totally unwelcoming & not interested We decided to stay given how much we heard about the place and our concierge raving about it. Baguette 3/10, nothing compared to any boulengerie in Lyon. Croissant 1/10 total failure Eggs 7/10 Cheese 2/10 the cheapest they can offer Butter 1/10 the cheapest and served warm Juice 9/10 freshly squeezed Coffee 9/10 Hot Chocolate 10/10 excellent Decor is lovely and authentic. Overall service 3/10 Overall I would not give them more than 4/10 There are much much better places in Lyon

Very disappointing experience. I have lived in Lyon for 4 years and this used to be my favorite cafe. Today after bragging about this restaurant to my cousin who was visiting all the way to California had an experience very bizarre. Walk in to see empty tables everywhere but a line out the door. We waited in the line for over 10 minutes without even 1 person saying hi or explaining what the situation or wait was. Finally I asked a waiter who was passing by if we can sit down at the open tables or wait in the line. He said with much attitude that we had to wait in line and that it was not his responsibility to sit people and to wait for the woman with the vest. I can see this women from far away looking at the line out the door but she just stayed next to the bar almost avoiding the long line. After another 5 minutes a couple decided just to sit down at one of the open tables and just 2 minutes later the same waiter who told me to wait in the line approached the couple to take their order. I was shocked. We finally left, very sad to say that I won’t be coming back.

A favorite of the locals and visitors always a classy place for Coffee, Aperitivo or a meal, fantastic wine list for a cafe maybe that’s why it’s called Grand café

Really nice decor, especially the bar. I recommend enjoying a drink at the bar if you get the chance. The big downside is that it gets really crowded and there is little space between the tables so you'll basically sit right next to the people at the other tables. This also makes the service a little bad because the waiters get overwhelmed and don't have the time to properly serve you.

Beautiful decor but highly priced for average quality meal and beverage (6 euro for a Illy expresso). The onion soup was ok with very cheese and the fish tasted pretty fishy and was unimpressive for 28 euros Service was polite. So, for the money, it’s really not worth it.

Very busy, mediocre food. Our waiter was lovely. The rest of the staff seemed a bit stuck up.

Last meal after a fantastic long weekend for the Rugby World Cup. A three hour lunch with some outstanding food and wines. Highly recommended.

A busy yet efficient restaurant. The food was amazing 👏 the snails in puff pastry were delicious, as was the fish. A cafe gourmand to finish was a lovely taster of mini versions of the dessert 🍨 cart. We were a party of 15, and everyone loved their food. The waitress was brilliant, fast, efficient, and friendly. Definitely recommend booking a table here!

Everything was great: food, service and atmosphere. Probably the best restaurant we've been to in Lyon.

Really cute café but nothing special except the interior. The food arrived extremely quick, 2 onion soups (room temperature), Foie Gras and 2 side dishes all in less than 10 minutes. The service otherwise is slow and they could work on their friendliness. The food quality is average.

I have always loved this place. It would gain a lot if staff was friendlier. Food is always as expected, good good good.

The duck pate was awful and the bread was a week old! The service by this one man was so bad, I fully understand what Julie Roberts felt like in the movie, Pretty Woman! But my steak and potatoes were delicious along with our stuffed chicken dish!

Nice location But service could be better… ordered a meal, then it was not available, so we ordered a crepes with ice cream but only the crepes arrived… the ice cream another 10 min later😅

Normal place. I think it is extra rated 24€ for 2 chocolate and 2 expresso

In general it's an okeish cafe. We went there for breakfast, waited quite a long time to order and then to get the food, found some hair in the food, one of the waitress was obviously sick (cold symptoms). The scrambled eggs were fine, but I would add bacon and some spices, espresso coffee was rather "normal" black coffee with water. I wouldn't complain if the price was half of what we paid, but this place is ridiculously expensive. For that reason, I don't recommend, otherwise it looks fine, especially if you like fancy castle-like interior style.

Beautiful cafe, refinement reigns on the walls and furniture, BUT the poorly dressed employees, with rolled up sleeves, sweaty, is not good image for the refinement you want to see, given that this historic space. I think the TV on the wall was expendable has nothing to do with the decor !!!!! and I couldn't help but notice the coffee machine's bad storage, it was a pity!!! It has everything to be a place to come back to if these little things were fixed.

Good range of gelato and sorbet. More importantly, great tasting.

Build and decorated in the second empire style of the late XIX century, this cafe has seen most of the richest businessman and most powerful lyoness politicians enjoying its delicious and very expensive menus. This is a nice place to enjoy a time travel sensation

I wanted to visit this Lyon institution, and it did not disappoint. I got the Pike quenelles and they were amazing. The old-world ambience made the experience much more enjoyable. Recommended.

Nice decor! Terrible service, below average food, and room was uncomfortably super HOT and staff were unwilling to do anything about it. Totally indifferent. One star is a bit generous!

👍 Nice experience in this new restaurant. Gentle staff, there is a nice feeling. I recommend the salads which are super tasty and creative. Could not experience the fresh juice as the restaurant seems to have some teething problems but I will come back in a few weeks to try more.
