Recently I had the displeasure of staying at King Fahd Palace Hotel in Dakar, Senegal, while attending a high-profile event. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Firstly, the overall cleanliness of the hotel was very poor. The rooms were dirty and the water was not clean, making it difficult to take a shower or even brush my teeth. The beds and pillows were also unclean, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The service was equally disappointing, with staff members being unhelpful and unresponsive to guest requests. To make matters worse, there were no vegetarian food options available at the hotel. This was a major disappointment for me, as I had expected a more diverse range of food options to be available. It's shocking that a hotel of this caliber does not cater to the dietary needs of its guests. Overall, my experience at King Fahd Palace Hotel was very disappointing, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Dakar. If you're planning a trip to this city, I would suggest looking for alternative accommodation options that provide better value for money and a more enjoyable experience.

This hotel is amazing for those who loves pets like mice, ants and dirty water. Don’t want to think the water that they use for cooking. -5 stars hotel..

If I could give it 0 stars I would! Do not stay here! This is the worst hotel in Dakar! This hotel is terrible. When we arrived the hotel room fridge was open, dirty with half drank bottles of water. The shower door leaked open all over the bathroom floor. They gave us too large towels and nothing else. I had to wait 2 hours for someone to come and clean the fridge. I had to wait 1 hour for someone to bring me a wash cloth.

Hard pass. Took nearly 3 hours to get a tech to look at my air conditioner. He came, looked at me and said it wasn't working. Stated he'd either be back in 10 min or it'd be working in 10 min. Neither happend. Call from someone said the staff would be working on it throughout the night and they would have it working before I woke up. Nope. 3am I was sweating up a storm. Went to the couch in the living area since the air conditioner was kind of working, and slept there instead of my bed.

I went here for lunch and it was really beautiful. I had great food and the staff was extremely nice. I decided to sit at the restaurant but you can definitely sit by the pool if you like. This is a very secure facility and it's located right across the street from the US embassy.

This 5 star Hotel was founded in late 80s by King Fahd bin Abdulaziz (King of Saudi Arabia) may God bless his soul, in a High standard by that time with nice rooms and facilities and a huge, modern conference Hall, The issue is that it's not been maintained very well unfortunately with lots of issues and breakage in rooms.. The service is extremely unbelievably SLOW, that would have been a reason for poor management and under qualified Staff.

Came here for a wedding. If you stay ask to stay in a renovated room - they’re gorgeous and modern. Other rooms are dated. No AC in main areas of hotel make it a little stuffy. Great location.

The worst hotel I ever experienced with the most expensive cost. They cut the hot water from the shower to save money. I didn't have hot water the first day so asked the front desk, it worked for one day, the next day again no hot water and asked them again twice but no action. Don't know how to manage the next days here. No service at all, the only service you can get is to arrange your bed nothing else, the towels disappear when you use them not replaced. The shampoo, body wash, cafe, tea drinking water you see is only for the first day, no more. Room smalls fishy, the carpet is very old. The location from airport is three hours drive and so much traffic on the way.

The buffet was absolutely horrible and gave me food poisoning!!! The food variety was lacking, quality was questionable, and there were bugs crawling all over the desserts. In addition this is an approx 60$ Per person equivalent buffet but they will charge you extra for water and not give you any drinking options beyond a single nasty fruit juice, coffee, and tea. A regrettable decision from beginning to end and I will not be going back ever again.

-the gym is a public gym, so it constantly has people in it who don't stay at the hotel -the personal trainers at the gym are terrible (blast their music and turn yours down if you connect, tell you not to deadlift because it's too loud, clip their toenails, and leave sweaty gym clothes to dry on the racks) -the gym equipment is horrible -the pool is a public pool, constantly filled with people who don't stay at the hotel and no reserved room for guests as a priority anywhere (pool, poolhouse, gym) -rooms constantly have ants in them -breakfast is terrible, the exact same low quality food everyday -worst hotel I've ever stayed at -hotel staff asked me for an ibuprofen out of my room, and always stop to talk to me when I'm in a rush; not customer-first -power goes out very often, and adjacent buildings still have power

Location, location, location. That's all this hotel has, to earn these 3 stars. Located a mere 5 minute walk from the western most point of Africa, this dated property offers magnificent views of the Atlantic. The rooms are large and quiet with old furniture and mellow lighting. A note of caution: there are very few power outlets in the rooms; it took me a good 10 minutes to locate one for charging my phone. Enjoy the views and the food at the local seaside restaurants, a quick 7 minute walk away.

Stayed there due to a canceled flight. The place is huge, the room was and smelled humid, to the extent that the door would not close without a hard push Breakfast and Lunch buffet were good though The pool is under renovation, no water in it now The hitel was understaffed, but might be due to the flight canceled, 100 people checking in Without notice

    - One of my favourite hotels in the world, Spacious rooms, beautiful views, lots of shop within the hotel. - Within the hotel, there's car hire, cloths shops, Massage and tan, Hairdressers, and bar. - A bit pricy for the rooms (218$) in My time - It has access to the ocean. - Pool area with a beautiful restaurant and very good prices compared to others. - Beach view rooms are awesome! - The only con is the surrounding area around the hotel doesn't have much things around, only embassies and hotels.

One of the most luxurious places in Dakar. Easy access near most of the embassies. Large parking and area for exhibitions as well. Large swimming pool available and many shops in place also ATMs are available. So great place for almost any need. Would definitely come back I enjoyed my first visit and not the last. Thank you for all the great staff.

The hotel rooms are clean and have been recently refurbished. Some parts of the hotel are showing signs of age but the pool is great and the staff are friendly and helpful. The bar by the pool is reasonably priced but the bat 8n the hotel costs a fortune.

Nice hotel with a perfect view of the sea. Spacious and neat rooms, though be careful for mosquitoes. Good food and drinks. The facility is so big, it can host major events.

Excellent place to stay if you are in Dakar. Staff is friendly, always helpful and rooms are updated and clean. Plenty of choices for food. The amenities are what you except from a Palace.

Good hotel. But no coffee/tea kettle in the room. No hot press either. Quite pricey for the level of services provided.

Beautiful relaxing hotel located right on the water. They have stores on location for shopping, a hair salon and a gigantic pool to swim in. Anytime I had a question I called the front desk or stopped by to ask a question. Limoumou, Mohammed Mamadou Dieye, Stephane and Khady were kind and eager to assist with my many questions. They made my stay more pleasant.

Great experience. Tried the suite and the rooms. Both had balconies with great views of the ocean. Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Lunch and dinner were perfect and quiet atmosphere. Great for business trip or leisure. Very close to downtown Dakar and Center of Almadies.

Shhhh. Don’t tell anyone about this quiet and lovely corner of Dakar. Is the hotel on the older side? Yes. Is it “luxury”? Not quite.but you can’t beat the setting. The ocean-side pool surrounded by gardens is quite relaxing. But please don’t come. I want to keep this spot to myself. Side note: The salad Nicoise is delicious at the outdoor restaurant. Also good cappuccinos. Hotel prices, but worth it for the views alone.

Hotel location is good. Very safe area. Hotel facilities are great. Rooms are big and comfortable. Everything is clean and tidy. Staff is really great, helpful and smiley. Pool is nice. Also there is a golf facility. Breakfast is rich enough. And lunch and dinner are same. Good quality food and good service. You can find some supermarkets and restaurants at a walking distance. Overall ; it is a good choice to stay.

A Grand Hotel and the new rooms are the best, with fabulous showers in particular, but the standards of service are inconsistent. Example, Me to Reception(in petson) "can I get a coffee", them, "yes the bar is open now". Me "okay thanks". Me "the bar is locked", them "I will call them...RING RING...yes they are open". Me, "thanks". Me "the bar doors are still locked". Them, Okay "Where are you sitting", me "over there", okay I will send someone.... you get the picture...

Back in the 50’s it would have been a 5 star hotel but not nowadays! It’s old and dirty. Cleanliness and hygiene has left the building especially at the restaurant area!

  • 1/5 Jeffrey Z. 2 years ago on Google
VERY DISAPPOINTING, primarily because staff just doesn't even try or seem to care at all... COLD SHOWER Apparently this is a consistent problem at this hotel. I couldn't get more than Luke warm water on any of my three days at this hotel even after running the shower for 10 minutes before getting in. POOL SERVICE POOR The hotel seemed nearly empty. What a perfect time for pool staff to walk the pool deck to take orders to accommodate guests. Each time I wanted something I had to go looking for a server. There was no follow up to see if I wanted another drink ever. They would likely have sold a few additional beverages had they simply asked or made it easier for the guests. SERVERS HAVE NO DESIRE TO MAKE CHANGE FOR A LARGER BILL This caused me to not leave a tip several times after asking for change. No one even tried. The answer was NO. The servers only hurt themselves here and I saved money on tips, although that was never my primary goal. I always wanted to leave a tip even with poor service at best. ROOM SERVICE LACKING I like coke zero. I asked for it the first night. It wasn't available, nor was coke lite. The story was the same the second day and the third. Why they can't go to the store and refill their inventory beats me. They prefer saying NO rather than make the effort to have menu items available. ROOM COFFEE SERVICE INCONSISTENT The coffee service in the room was not stocked when I checked into the room. Each day after housekeeping I had to call to get coffee service. This was annoying and unnecessary. LACK OF ANY EFFORT BY ALL The hotel staff, ALL the staff seem to be geared to say NO rather than address even the smallest issues. Stay somewhere else that cares about their guests, because King Fahd, at least during my stay, could have cared less about me or my stay.

Staying at the King Fahd Palace Hotel for business. It is close to where I need to conduct my business and has open areas that are good to conduct business. Services are poor. Breakfast is ok if you arrive early. I walked around the dining area 5 minutes looking for a table that did not have dishes left by prior customers. No flat ware was available and no glasses for drinks. Food selection was ok, nothing special. A lot of items appeared to have not been replenished. Finally had to ask an employee to get me flat ware and a clean table. Not what I expected of a hotel like King Fahd Palace. This lack of service has occurred the last two times I have traveled here. Might be time to explore other options.

Very bad experience. Abusive. I reserved a single room I even paid in advance. On check in they requested the bank transfer justification of the payment which I presented and they confirmed that everything was alright. After my stay I proceed to check out and they charge me more than the double that I have already paid. I say that this is impossible as I already paid in advance and they say that I had been in a suite (it didn't look like a suite to me) instead of a single room and that it was MY FAULT for not complaining the first day. I would never recommend this hotel, it doesn't deserve 5*

Nice hotel. Great location. Beach access. Very old style and not renovated. Bathroom tiles are old and have some mold in many rooms. We were a group and stayed in several rooms and all noticed the mold in different areas of the bathrooms. Staff is friendly. Food is good. Hotel is really run down compared to other hotels in town.

This is the former Méridien President Hotel. It's a 5 stars Hotel by the ocean in a gigantic courtyard. I usually go there for lunch on Sunday because of the huge buffet with all tastes: local and exotic; fish, seafood or meat, local juice or soda etc. Unfortunately the place is a but empty with Covid19.
