This place is so much fun to check out during the off season! We love bringing the kids out, taking picnic supplies and just enjoying the view. There is so much to explore and the best part is, it's free!!! You can park in the grounds or take the train. The gates are open freely during the off season. Just keep in mind there is wildlife and to pick up after yourself of any trash. We love seeing whats swimming around in the lagoon but hate seeing the trash floating about. Well worth a trip if you have only checked it out during Fair season!

I've been there a few times in my life, but I've always wondered about the pond there and if it's legal to fish the pond? If not, please guide me to a set if rules or a page on the internet that shows Fishing Prohibited? I'd love to go fishing there.

Very good place. But post covid lack of maintenance is visible. People need to visit this beautiful place more so management feel the pressure to better manage this place.

Leonhardt Lagoon is a small, quaint lagoon and pond near the Texas State Fair Grounds that offers a peaceful and relaxing way to take a break and enjoy nature. During my visit, I was impressed by the well-maintained walking trail, various places to sit and relax, and the abundance of wildlife, including many turtles. The lagoon provides a unique opportunity to observe and appreciate nature in the heart of the city. The walking trail is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a refreshing run, and the numerous benches along the way offer an ideal spot to pause and enjoy the scenery. I found myself captivated by the numerous turtles and other wildlife present in the lagoon, which added to the peaceful and serene atmosphere. The natural beauty of the lagoon was well-preserved, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. In conclusion, Leonhardt Lagoon is a hidden gem that is definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for a peaceful and serene outdoor experience in Dallas. The well-maintained walking trail, abundance of wildlife, and relaxing ambiance make it a perfect destination for nature lovers, families, and anyone looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

It's across the lagoon on a floating bridge. They have a stage set up with a D.j. . There are Swan paddle boats you can go on and Dinosaurs all around the lagoon and in the lagoon. Pretty cool.

We loved this little lagoon. My 2 year old son really enjoyed walking on the loch Ness monster shaped walkway. We also lucky enough to catch glimpses of a group of migratory geese. They were taking flight in groups and the whole process of how they do it was awesome. Would highly recommend this spot for a quiet leisurely evening.

Beautiful and relaxing. I love dinosaurs, so the current exhibit is a lot of fun for me. Went during the state fair (on a saturday!) so it was really busy.

I rode the swans in the lagoon. It was pretty cool. Be sure to secure your belongings as they tend to fall out of your pockets while peddling. Also , I have previously walked the route and discovered that there is a lot of cool art and info to keep you intrested.

This place holds a cherished spot in my heart. Wrapped in its enchanting beauty since my early childhood, I have always held a soft spot for meandering along the lagoon's winding path, alternating between land and water. As an adult, I find immense joy in introducing my children to the magic of this wonderful place, making it a part of their play routine. This lagoon continues to be one of my most treasured havens.

I don't know if it's always fenced now, but during the State Fair of Texas it was fenced around the walkway in the lagoon. Nicely kept and in good shape.

Love it here it is peaceful and beautiful, the turtles and birds just make this place comfortable to be around, I would always go here when I got the chance and just walked around. But when the fair comes it’s a different story you have to pay to get in and park lol

We had a wonderful day! I would highly recommend that you rent a electric scooter for the day! Especially if you want to see everything.

This is one of my favorite places to be. Since I was a small child I loved walking along the lagoon in and out of the waters path. As an adult, I love bringing my kids here now to play.

Nice outdoor experience for kids. Textured surface, so less likely to slip. Kids can explore nature up close while having fun.
