Had some mixed roast in dried noodles. Taste-wise was really good. Main gripe was that of all the crispy pork given to me only one actually had crispy skin on it. Not sure where the rest went. Lots of boney duck portions also. The other cooked rice dishes looked good and will be back to try them.

We often frequent this place when renting at Vermont South. Now that we live far away from Forest Hill, we had not eaten here for a long time and partly also due to Covid lockdown. Our first recent Sunday lunch affirmed the quality and service has been maintained. Food is tasty and dishes are whipped up quickly. Pricewise, the bill for a family of four is reasonable.

Tasty dishes though a bit pricey. We waited a while for the meal but the service was courteous and friendly.

Excellent Cantonese restaurant. Regular patron here for the roast duck and salt and pepper chicken. The salt and pepper chicken on rice is outstanding. I would give it a full 5 stars if it hadn’t been the rice that was a tad too sticky (too wet). Other than that, the chicken was ON POINT. The second dish was a hot and sour soup. It is also outstanding. Consistent quality is the key here and Tasty House continues to deliver the goods every time I have been here in the last two years.

Our lunch of Roast Pork w/ Tofu and Roast Duck w/ Roast Pork were good value with tasty meats and large portions (rice eaters rejoice). Their roasts seemed very popular with diners and the restaurant filled up quickly too (always reassuring). This place seems to tick all the boxes for a reasonable meal if one is in the neighbourhood

5 stars for comfort food that hits home with all the Chinese classics. They’ve definitely done up the place really nicely and lots of big tables for big family gatherings. Proofs in the pudding but in this case, it’s in the photos (see attached). Definitely recommend the selection of roast meats in the window if you’re new to this type of food but for those who are seasoned, excuse the pun, you’ll find all your standard favourites. Lots of parking in Forest Hill shopping centre or at the car park up on the hill. And for parents with kids, my observation is the place is a bit squishy so prams aren’t ideal.

Heard of the rave reviews of this newly renovated place and decided to give it a try. A huge disappointment. While the service was efficient and it was a bright and clean environment, the food was below average. The spinach in stock tasted like vegetable water with a dash of msg. The roast duck skin was limp and the roast pork had no crackle and was chewy. The black pepper beef had so much baking soda in them that they tasted like sponge.

I find this restaurant extremely poor in customer service and bad cooking. I ordered a mapo tofu rice and it was very salty, so I politely explained to the waiter & owner. They rudely refuse and not willing to change it to other dish I asked for. A bad experience for me. I suggest other patrons NOT to visit this restaurant.

Pretty large portion for the rice & one type of meat (only $12.9). Their BBQ pork ran out around 6pm on a Tuesday night so I assume it was good? Their roast duck wasn't bad either. Laksa was a bit heavy.

I can’t honestly hand on heart say that the food here is phenomenal. As a local, it’s quite convenient to dine here. The signature fried rice is quite nice (interesting addition of pork ribs to a fried rice dish) and the roast duck was not bad. What is great here though is the ambience (the renovations make it a much more comfortable restaurant for group dinners). We also appreciate the attentive service and kind wait staff - almost a rarity in Asian restaurants! Reservations are recommended via phone if you don’t want to risk waiting during busy weekend dinner slots. There’s a weekend surcharge and it’s not super pricey (probably expect around $20-30 pp if you don’t order seafood).

Generous portions of great food. The menu is everything you’d expect from a Chinese restaurant, though they specialise in the roast/BBQ meats so it’s definitely worth ordering for those. Never disappoints.

The food is hit and miss. Seafood stir noodle was borderline inedible due to noodles not being fired properly Beef stir fried noodle is a Cantonese classic. The taste is 95% there but the beef was stirred fried too dry. Noodle lacked Abit of wokhei Garlic prawn came out a bit spicy so hard for kids to eat. But it was not under seasoned. The egg omelette with Cantonese sausage was tasty. The egg was just a tad too overcooked. The sausage was a bit too sweet. Overall fairly authentic albeit average Malaysian Cantonese food Also the restaurant is very loud due to 0 sound absorbing material being installed.

Had lunch here today. The place is beautifully renovated. Food was delicious and serving size was big. Service was good. Will definitely go back again to try their dishes. 🔸Noodle soup with fish fillet 🔸Fried rice noodle with seafood 🔸Xo sauce with ox tongue on rice 🔸Two choices BBQ on rice (BBQ pork & roasted pork)

Great portion of food and good service. Love their retro fit interior design! Taste is above average especially their fried rice. Roast pork is a bit dry but overall taste good. Worth a try!

We love the newly renovated space. Menu selection is not as extensive as others, however the dishes were well presented and very tasty. Good selection of live seafood and price is reasonable. Great place to celebrate birthdays here as they will put on their singing voice and give you a generous Happy Birthday song performance 🥳.

The best new Chinese restaurant in Melbourne eastern suburb to try. Run by great retstauranteurs couple Jacky and Wendy, Tasty House serves very good seafood and Chinese Cantonese cuisine that are fresh, delicious and very tasty. Definitely not to be missed, need to book a week ahead in advance to get your choice dates. Service and food recommendations and impeccable and prices are very reasonable. Definitely coming back.

It's the crab season again (April 2023) and we tried out one of the crab dishes in this restaurant. The crab dish came as a set, which I must say is a very good value for money. The crab was cooked special sauce with two serves of noodles. Together with the crab dish was the special salted chicken and fried beans. This set is more than enough for two persons and it costs $110. I have seen the next door table having the same deal with 4 persons. The crab was very fresh and cooked to perfection. After finishing the crab and noodles, there's no more room for the chicken and fried beans. It was well worth the money. I would recommend any crab lovers to go and try it out there. I would definitely go back there before the end of crab season. But it's not only the crab, they also have many other delicious dishes which I have yet to try out. Definitely a must for Chinese food lovers.

Been here a number of times since the old place got some love with the new decor and interior and moving next door to a bigger premises. Popular spot with the food being very good. Salt baked chicken, roast duck and the S&P calamari always a winner. Service was efficient and fast. Overall, good as always. Will regularly return.

Where have you been all these time? Not a well known restaurant outside of the locals, well kept secret I suppose? Good food and service, lovely seats, just a little noisy and a bit of wait, but that's worth it!

First time at this restaurant and had a very pleasant experience. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff were lovely too. One of our kids felt sick after the long drive there and vomitted in the dining area and the lady was so nice and didn’t make us feel horrible. Unfortunately it isn't local for us but if it was we'd definitely become regulars!
