One of the main museums in the city center. The ticket purchased here will also include admission to another small museum a short walk away.

5 star experience in this eclectic museum that is a must see for anyone visiting the city of Debrecen. The building itself is gorgeous, there are exhibits here ranging from the Kurgan culture and Ancient Egypt to 19th century Hungarian painting like the brilliant large scale Munkacsy trilogy. Some of the exhibits don't have any English explanations but all of the important items do and the entrance price is a mere pittance for what you get to explore

I love it so much😍 I can upload more pictures, but no go and discover its beauty by yourselves. What I liked more is the Ancient Egyptian civilization part. We studied this civilization at the University, so it is nice to see what aspects we studied in real life🥰 agents and workers there are super nice to international students and they speak English Thank you❤

This is the "must see" museum if you're visiting this city. No only a beautiful building but an interesting assembly of both works of art and ancient cultural artifacts. This place exists thanks to the beneficence of Frigyes Deri who in 1920 donated his lifelong collection to the State. The museum exhibits his particular interest of Egyptian, Samuri and 15th to 18th Century Christian European artefacts. The paintings are organised into groups reflecting common characteristics; Portraits, Landscapes, Still Life. I found the supplementary exhibition regarding Hungarian ancient beliefs concerning death, burial and the afterlife particularly interesting. It's displayed in a darkened room with gentle mystic music playing in the background. Perhaps the good weather had deterred people from spending time inside. It was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. Lovely exhibition and fantastic value at 900 huf for pensioner.

Déri Múzeum, a very beautiful museum! Some people find it weird cuz they have divisions for Egyptian history, Japanese history, Hungarian history, paintings, etc. But for me, these made it diverse and even more interesting. It's so organised and clean from inside, and big btw! So at least expect to remain inside for three hours.. at least, if you wanna see most of the things!

It was amazing! It has a little bit of everything. I think you would need around 3 hours and a bit more to see it all.

The Deri Museum is one of the most prominent and oldest museums in Hungary, located in Debrecen. The museum was founded in 1912 by the local humanist, Frigyes Deri. The museum has a vast collection of Hungarian and international art, historical artifacts, and natural history specimens. The museum's art collection features works from famous Hungarian artists, such as Mihály Munkácsy, László Mednyánszky, and József Rippl-Rónai, as well as international artists, including El Greco, Rubens, and Titian. In addition to art, the museum also houses historical artifacts, including weapons, costumes, and coins from various historical periods. Overall, Deri Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in Hungarian history and art. The museum's impressive collection, beautiful building, and knowledgeable staff make for a truly memorable experience. Would like to see more English information, there was very minimal

Small but very nice museum. Lovely museum building. Two original Egyptian mummies, a very nice Japanese exibition. Marvelous Munkachy triptich. It takes about two hours to see everything. The staff didn't speak English but everyone was very kind.

Perfect little museum to take the kids to. Great exhibits on the local history as well as on ancient Egypt. The top attraction, of course, is the Munkacsy Trilogia. A must see!

A nice museum although I wish the exhibition on Debrecen had English (or any language other than Hungarian) text. It was hard for a foreigner to be understand the history of the city or that of the collection. The building is grand.

👍👍 I have been to the Víztorony two or three times this year. I spent some lovely time here during spring and summer. They have a wide-range of alcoholic beverages. I love the game with the lights on the Water tower. They organize concerts and disco nights, too.
