Superlative experience in a quite unpopular site. Came here too late in the afternoon so i had to find a place for the night: some men at the nearby village çay evi kindly drove me back to Karacasu where they gave me a free room at the municipality guest house. The following morning i hitchhiked to here and spent 4 hours exploring both the internal museum and the excavations. Really charming. A man asked me if i would like some sexual stuff while i was walking around the ruins and this has been the only time someone asked me in an open air museum. Maybe the name of the site makes it regular. Left and hitchhiked 2 cars to Denizli, met my Couchsurfing host. You can find my timelapse along the whole area in the video section.

Beautiful hidden ancient city! Full of surviving statues and sculptures, walls, columns. It is a big city and many small details to see as well as impressive theatre, stadiums, baths so spare 4-5 hours and definitely take the voice guide. I recommend reading before visiting the site. It’s discovery story is amusing in itself

A gem not to be missed. A historical ancient ruins that is located 40 kilometers west of Denizli on the way to Izmir. This site is not frequently advertised or visited by common tourists. It's beautiful and serene. This was my second time going there and I loved walking through the ruins and the museum.

(Translated by Google) The ancient city of Aphrodisias has been on the World Heritage list since 2017, due to its value exchange, witness to cultural tradition, its importance in human history, and traditional human settlement criteria. It was opened to settlement in 5000 BC and grew and became a beautiful town. Our province of Aydın has a very old and relatively rich history. This history begins with the Hittites and continues with many other civilizations. These lands are seen to have come and gone by Lydians, Persians, Mecodonians, Ionians and Seleucids respectively. Later, these lands, which were a part of the Kingdom of Pergamon, became the property of the Romans 130 years before Christ. After the victory of Malazgirt in 1071, Aydin and its surroundings were conquered by the Turkish-oghuz armies under the command of the Seljuk qutalmışoğlu Süleyman Shah, who was recognized as the conqueror of Anatolia and the founder of the Turkish state. However, because of the great importance and value of this region, the Byzantines and the Christian world did not give up on these lands easily. It changed hands many times. In 1280, Menteşe Bey, one of the fronts of Selçuk, ended these handoffs and attributed it to the Turks. Have a nice holiday.

For me,it was amazing there. More beautiful tban Hierapolis( Pamukkale) for example . Not so big like Efesus or Hieroplous, but full of amazing traces of roman culture. Nice museum. Don t forget photo colections from the entrance. There is a true and amazi g saga about the discovery of this ancient city in xx s year. Not crowded. There are parking and cafetaria with a small book store. Don t miss this beautiful place!

I would call this a well laid out arachnological site. Secondly, I liked it especially as the location was not overcrowded with tourists who just wanted to take pictures of themselves at the site. It had people who were travellers that were really interested in the site. To get to the site, you needed to be ferried by a tractor powered people carrier. The temple of Aphrodite was a located prominently in a middle of a field. The other parts of the site were equally interesting. The Museum was the highlight of this visit – it was well laid out and exhibits of serious interest were laid out properly.

(Translated by Google) Prof. Dr. The ancient city that Kenan Erim devoted his life to bringing it to its present state, named after Aphrodite, has the second best intact stadium in the world, and a dizzying sculpture museum. If you are a little lucky like us, you can visit the whole city with the guidance of one of the playful cats. It will be useful to go in the morning cool in summer. Even if the road seems a little long, you will say that I am happy with its beauty and size. Of course, it would not be without thanking Ara Güler, he is the first person to understand the importance of this place and initiate its reveal.

One of the most important ancient cities in Turkey. Definitely 'a must see' and a hidden gem, between Ephesus and Pamukkale (Hierapolis). The hippodrome, theater and many buildings stands and there are much more to be excavated. The museum which is just by the site is full of 2000 years old Sculptures. An amazing archaeological site Just one negative side, the museum shop is very expensive.

An incredible site that features some of the most beautiful marble carving, a sprawling ancient metropolis to explore, and well-preserved antiquities spanning a broad cross-section of history and culture. The Anatolians, Carians, and Romans were all here, and left their mark! One can immediately see why the Hellenes referred to the local goddess as Aphrodite, because this place is lush, fertile, beautiful, and magical-feeling. One of my favorite historic sites! I’ll be back again and again.

(Translated by Google) The most elaborate and the largest ancient roman city I have ever visited. The sarcophagi are very elaborate, the huge stadium remained as it was, I found it magnificent, the bathhouse, the Agora, the theater .... I could feel myself in the Roman Empire. Inside the museum. I've never seen so many statues together. It was an enjoyable trip. Entry with Müzekart is free. There is a cafe where you can rest inside. Ara Güler is like a bonus in the photo exhibition 😊👍🏻. By far the best ancient ruins we have seen in Turkey. We’ve visited a lot on the west coast and there are a few reasons why this was our favorite: 1) no hoards of tourists. There were relatively few people here which was strange because there are so many beautiful things to see. 2) much of the ruins are intact 3) the marble features are the most well preserved and well known in the area dating back to the ancient times. The amphitheater, the arena and the baths are absolutely stunning and huge! 4) entrance fee was cheap compared to all the other ancient ruins 5) the museum has phenomenal works of marble art so well preserved The only down side to this area is there isn’t a place to eat. There’s a place to buy water, ice cream and some sweets but that is all. Overall it was phenomenal and a must see.
