Not quite ready for tent camping with a toddler, we rented a cabin here for a couple of nights to dip our toes into the water (literally and metaphorically). We searched high and low for photos of the cabin to know what to expect but came up dry, so here they are! The cabins have two bunk beds in them, two "big" full or twin size bunks on the bottoms, and two "small" single beds on the top. All mattresses are wrapped in plastic. PLENTY of outlets in every corner, and a handy ledge under the back window. Both windows open, but on a 90°+ day, they weren't enough to keep it cool (highly recommend a fan for hot days). The spigot is right across the street, shared with the other two cabins. The site has crushed gravel to stick a pop up tent for shade. Patio is in good shape with a bench that you can move. The door locks with a number pad from the outside. There is no deadbolt, chain, or way to keep the door locked on the inside (which means your toddler or clever dog might have a way out). The door does swing IN, so it would have to be a very clever dog that can push the lever down and pull the door open. It's a lever style doorknob. The door was no challenge for our two year old from the inside. Camp host was GREAT and super friendly. Creek under a quarter mile away. Well kept outhouse a short walk away. Perfect for first camp trip with a kiddo, we'll be back. If you'd like a more private site, it looks like the yurts are the way to go, but I'm not sure they've got the spigot access. Everywhere else is pretty exposed.

This place is awesome for paddle boarding and fishing and I also mountain bike here. I caught this Bass off my board right over by the boat ramp and caught the 20" rainbow out in the middle. Big Soda lake is a swimming and paddling lake, the reservoir is no swimming.

Beautiful park with lots of different activities to part take in. From horse back riding, bike trails, to kayak and paddle board rentals. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. Clean and large area with 2 smaller lakes and multiple camping areas. One lake is for boating and recreational without rentals and the other a bit smaller with kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals. Located right next to red Rock amphitheater this place has a lot to offer for just a $10 full day park pass this is a must visit.

Absolutely beautiful area. Vast park with tons of paths, an archery range, horses, and bike riding. We stayed in the Campground with our 5th wheel and had a great time. Spots are VERY big, tons of room in each one, and the park is extremely clean. Sunsets and views are stunning in the evening. Highly recommend this park to anyone.

Beautiful & clean park. You can do a lot or do nothing and still enjoying your time here. You may rent a small kayak 🛶 or go for an enjoyable walk around the park and enjoy the lakes. There's a campground as well, horses area & a swim beach. It costs $10 for a vehicle day-pass.

Don't waste your money camping here. The place is overpriced and offers nothing. $35 a night only gets you an electric hookup, the road getting to the campground is unnecessarily curvy which is terrible for anyone towing an RV. They charge you to use the showers and the sites provide no shade. If you come in after hours you have to drive down a bumpy gravel road and go through a back entrance, not sure why they couldn't put a keypad on the main gate and give people a code like every other campground in existence.

I used to love going here, my place to escape and relax. But......I'm not sure why I even bother buying a season pass at this point as they do not regulate the number of people they allow to come into the lake and the only time you can find a parking spot is before 7am. Its very frustrating. They need to monitor this better

I’m sure the park is beautiful, though the lake is full of poisonous algae that you have to wash off after you’re done swimming, and is poisonous to dogs so they can’t swim or drink. And the attendant that you buy your pass from this morning had no clue what kind of algae it is, so she couldn’t even inform me properly with any good safety information. The park could at least inform their workers of important information like this to relay to us. Instead I had to Google everything myself. Bear creek lake park please inform your workers of important information so they can relay it to us. I don’t appreciate it at all, and won’t be returning.

The best kept campground I’ve ever stayed at. The sites and common areas were raked twice a day by the hosts. Clean bathrooms, nice trails, wildlife and beautiful views.

This park is a great place to bike. They have full moon hikes. Did one of these hikes and it was wonderful. Beautiful view of Denver at night.

This is a beautifully maintained park on federal land. The campground is well maintained and laid out with showers that are clean and well enough to get the dirt off Beautiful scenery and wildlife. Horseback riding, archery and fishing Well worth the stay

Park was great, staff is kind. Cabin...was a shed with 2 bunk beds. Okay for the night, but some pictures would have been nice. Website is a bit hard to navigate and my receipt gave no information or even an address. A bit rough for a first time out of state visitor.

Came here by accident we were looking for a different hiking trail. I wish I had more time to explore Denver would’ve have spent more than just couple hours here. I feel like we walked for miles on the path and it just kept going. Lots of bikers and hikers with pets. Great place to bring your dog to tire them out. It was extremely windy out and at first I was very cold but after walking I warmed up some. My face did get wind burned 😢 we didn’t even get to walk to the lake the place was so big. We just followed streams.

They have a swim beach that gets incredibly crowded. I was there for open water swimming which is located on the far end of the swim beach where the bouys are. I would recommend getting there around 6:30-7am to beat the crowds.

Great place for a run, bike, walk, hike in the greater Morrison area, very bear Red Rocks park. I have visited on numerous occasions when in the area for a concert. Had a nice run, and a few nice hikes. Relatively flat, but there are some hilly segments throughout if you card to venture. Would also recommend for some nice scenery, as is typical throughout lovely Colorado.

It’s great if you’re idea of a good time is paying $10 to get assaulted by geese.

Nice park with lots to do. However trying to take a child to the beach when there is absolutely ZERO staff and everything is closed is quite challenging as there are unruly teenagers and ignorant grown-ups smoking Marijuana rampant on the beach. We had to move our towels twice to avoid the expletives and 2nd hand pot smoke. I was confused on what the outrageous park entry fee is for when there seems to be 0 staff except at the front gate or the main office. There should be park Rangers roaming around making sure things are legit.

Easy small loop trail system just off Morrison road. Expect plenty of company during peak hours. Early morning or inclement weather days are best. The trails on the northern side of the park all connect to the southern trails and those around the lakes. Great park close to town.

This park is beautiful. The price is reasonable for a day pass. The wooded areas are pleasant, the hills are somewhat challenging. Trails are marked and facilities are clean. They are under staffed, so the visitor center was closed.

Such a hidden gem and one of our favorite walking trails. The water level is high right now so not a lot of beach space but great for swimming and paddleboarding. Just wish more visitors would pick up their trash. Saw a plastic bag blow into the lake right by the ducks.

Beautiful spot to swim, fish, and hike. There's a $15 fee, and rangers randomly do ask for a fishing license, although it's not a national park.

It's a good park... but... It's so over crowded in the lake area it absolutely ruins even going for the lake, your non stop trying not to bump into anyone in open waters. I'll hit cherry creek state park, chatfield state park, or aurora resevoir before here again.

I’ve never had a bad experience here. Typically well maintained and the Rangers are usually very nice.

Was crowded for the weekend so a weekday of course would make it more serene. A male employee who hands me the paddle boards was very kind when I told him that it was my first time paddling.

  • 5/5 David B. 4 years ago on Google
Great for biking, hiking, running and close proximity to Lakewood and Morrison. Relatively flat but you can challenge yourself on the east side. Nice views down the southern front range or a quiet walk along the creek.

I lived in the area for years and heard people talked about it but never been to. Wow it's a pleasant surprise. It's nice and quiet. Nice for hiking, fishing, picnicking. and beautiful lakes. It's like you are in a national forest. You wouldn't know it existed in the middle of a city.

New restrictions at the park make for a very relaxing time at the beach at soda lake(Monday morning). We arrived at 8- no one on the beach. Set up in the shade. It was never crowded and the lake was perfect! Only one parking area was available (the one furthest away from the beach)
