Great, relatively small and conveniently placed ferry terminal and service. Pleasant crossing, hard working crew, standard canteen but useful food on board which ticks the boxes for the cost, no massive delays either end and easy access. Ferry was on time and a sound crossing. A great ferry with good outdoor access and enough seating for comfort.

The ferry terminal in France is very average. You need to be there a minimum of 90 minutes before departure, but there is nothing to do once you get there. No coffee shops or restaurants, no playing areas for kids , only 2 toilets ( for the ladies ) Also , we got lucky with the weather but on a very hot day it would be hellish as there is nowhere to go to protect yourself for the sun ( unless you keep your car running with AC the whole time ). Although the staff was very nice and polite. ( even if the wait is very long on the border control )

The best place to wait for the ferry to Newhaven- although as it is the only place, it is also the worst. It was good to have to use my schoolboy French one last time with security, who were very thorough in opening every door on the caravan, although, for some reason weren't too impressed that the car boot was full. Roughly translated, he said 'why is your boot so full? How am I going to check that?! I don't have time for this, off you go.' Nice piece of tarmac to wait for the ferry on, gets really hot so you fully appreciate the coolness of the boat, which is ingenious.

DFDS = lack of Flexibility. I drove from Spain and arrived early. Asked if I could get on the earlier boat which was docked. I was told it was absolutely fully booked, so no. Well I waited and it did not look full booked to me. But if I paid again I could go on. I sat and waiting 8 hours for the later ferry which I was booked on. Never had this issue with other ferry companies. Things happen, people are late and early. Ferry was ok.

Had a very pleasant crossing. Mill pond sea and the sun was out and very warm. Spent the whole 4 hours (apart from going to the toilet and purchasing a drink) on the outside deck. It was just like a cruise but with the added benefit of not having to spend days on board and not have to pretend you're enjoying the vogue or the company. I've been using DFDS for a few years now. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the added benefit is you know DFDS is not going to treat their staff like that other major cross channel ferry company treated their staff a few years ago. I haven't used that other company since they did the dirty on their staff and why would I when DFDS give great service. 👍DFDS.

For some reason ferry Terminals are generally grotty with old smelly toilets aged furniture and hardly any service and once you’ve been processed it’s a miracle if you can find a loo whilst your waiting to drive onboard.

Entry (tickets and passport control) seems relatively efficient, although we did arrive 40 minutes earlier than necessary. Staff do not speak English but are friendly and helpful. Be prepared to have your vehicle searched and a bag search as you enter the ship.

Dieppe to newhaven round trip First impressions the boat a bit dated. But very clean and extremely nice friendly staff. We acquired a cabin on both crossing. First boat cabin was 25 euro as it was a 5pm-10pm boat over to France. Second cabin for a 24.00 till 0430 to New haven cost 112 euros. Both where last minute cabins arranged on arrival. Big difference on price. But was worth the price , as the crossing where very choppy and lying flat was the only way yo tolerate it.

Fine service and dealt with quickly. Toilets are ok. There’s a green space outside the toilets which is good if you are waiting on a hot day to sit with little kids.

Was OK, got on with no problem. Good cabin as we had overnight ferry. Shop only opened for 1hr so missed that. Had a quick drink before trying to get a few hrs sleep.

Not big or smart, but functional. This ferry line used to be lorries only and there's only been a vague nod towards updating the bookings hall. Still, the ferries are the cheapest crossing the Channel and the ships, whilst old, seem okay. The cabins could do with new carpeting as they're not great, but then you are there to sleep. Functional and adequate, no frills.

Extremely friendly staff. Cabins clean. Would be more efficient if they had 2 members of the team on the till. Waiting to pay for the food took quite a long time. Food ended up cold. Bottle neck in the que. Overall a fantastic journey.

Every aspect of DFDS runs as smooth as clockwork - website, booking, payment,’ speaking to an efficient helpful human (in English), the ferries, the staff, the on board food, loading …!

We would definitely use this route to France again, I know it helped that it was July but! The ship was small but with plenty of seating, bar space and restaurant tables. The duty free was good value and well stocked. The staff were very polite and helpful.

Due to family circumstances we had to get an earlier ferry. Staff were Very helpful when we needed to change dates. Staff approachable and friendly. However, needed more staff on the till, when the restaurant is open. Both tills need to be open. You can imagine a bottle neck in line, Food ended up cold when we sat down. Cabins clean and tidy. Just what we needed after a long drive to the port. My husband and I, will definitely be using DFDS again in the very near future.

We tend to favour using the DFDS Transmarche ferry service from Newhaven to/from Dieppe as it's alot quieter and easier than Dover to/from Calais. Its also really good value for money. Well certainly better than Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Caen or Le Havre. The staff are always friendly. The only down side is the time that it takes to disembark. The crossing is 4 hours, but then it can take anything from 30 minutes to an hour to get down to the car deck. Not sure why it takes so long but it does which can be the most frustrating part of the journey. Waiting by reception for foot passengers to disembark is rather annoying. All-in-all though it's a service that we enjoy using and is the nearest to Paris, taking about two hours not rushing.

I always enjoy the journey by ferry usually cycling in the Dieppe area. Unfortunately there seems to be a massive difference on loading and unloading of cyclists . Sometimes we are kindly treated being the first on the ferry and the first off with our own passport booth, which is much appreciated when it's wet or cold and tired after a long ride. Then you get the bad unloading experience when we are the last ones off the ferry, breathing in traffic fumes, in the pouring rain creeping steadily forward with the cars and passengers who are all nice and dry in the warm. It's often over 30 minutes wait, and for some of us a long ride to get home. It would be great if this could be improved

Absolutely Brilliant, dispite unloading congestion with French passport control, our loading was quick and efficient, with a full load. Departed 10 minutes early. Both outwards and return check in was the quickest and easiest ever. Comfortable, generous recliner seats and a very good restaurant with not expensive varied meals. Definitely will use this route again.
