Beautiful square in the heart of the d town of Djion. Lovely sunny day and was great to just sit in this huge open space and watch the world go by. Cafes around the semicircular edges were bustling and people milling around but didn't feel crowded. Small fountains criss the large stone pedestrianised square you can sit and admire the granduer and excellence of the city Hall free from cars. Came for drinks early evening and back for coffee next day loved it.

Place de la Liberation, in the historic center of Dijon. A semi-circled place on the side of the palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. Renovated in 2005-2006. Three fountains were installed and its surface was covered with the local Comblanchien limestone, known for its beautiful beige color.

Really beautiful place at night and in the day. The fountains are a great touch. There are lots of bars and cafés in the area too.

A great place to people watch and enjoy some drinks on a nice weather day I was here when it was in the mid-30s centigrade / mid-90s farenheit. The water fountains were nice and cool and a pseudo water park for the kids.

The best (and most touristic, but who cares?) place to have a coffee or an "apero" in Dijon.

Grand semicircular square in front of the ducal palace. An impressive sight! Must see in Dijon.

This is the heart of Dijon and there's a lot going on here. The Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne of course is the main attraction here. A really impressive palace and obviously made by the motto: bigger is better. Which in this case it is. There are loads of restaurants on site as well, most of them facing the impressive palace. We had lunch at "Le Pré aux Clercs", which had great Steak Tartare. The Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Grand Théâtre de l'Opéra de Dijon are other main attractions here. And from here it's just a short walk to many other major sights like the Rue Des Forges, Place Francois Rude or the Église Saint-Michel. There are some chain stores and souvenir shops as well. Out of these, the Au Duché de Bourgogne is worth a look. Good wine and other deli products. The Square is just a nice place to be and to see. And definitely a must-do when in Dijon.
