We only had coffee and drinks. Service was fast and correct. The views are great. Toilets are old.
Location, service, food and Bier. The location of this restaurant next to the canal is the main reason it attracts so many people. Right at the most vantage point in the area. You can see the small boats passing by in the canal. The Tarte Flambée speaks for the flavour and taste by themselves. Very highly recommended for trying. The local biers were good and the service is really nice and attentive. The outside seating is the main highlight but the ambience inside is also very nice and cozy. The wooden interiors add more to the beauty.
Not so many choice but tarte franbee was fresh and tasty. Potato soup was also good for cold weather. Nice Christmas decoration inside and staffs worked quickly with good English. There were full but we got food within 15 min and enjoyed lunch without problem.
Well ... what can I say??? The only real merit about this place is that it is among the few that is open on Sundays and Public Holidays. Service was OK but a bit chaotic. Food was typically oriented towards cashing fast on tourists. The quality doesn't honor the reputation of the region. Fast food style pushed out quickly. But ... as I said ... we did not starve on a Public Holiday. I am not sure what is wrong with these touristic places in France ... why do all good restaurants close on peak visitors' days? Perhaps that one should come with his/her own sandwiches or picnic.
Wonderful view, good place to drink wine, cafe and eat some sweet. Even nicer in a rainy day in outside at the beginning of June.
Nice atmosphere, even so romantic in the rain, it would be nice if waiters smile🙃 a bit
Lemonade in France means sprite - beware. Wouldn't recommend this place apart from its prime location.
We had a day trip in Colmar and we went here for lunch. Overall the experience was good. The food was tasty and the service was excellent. It’s right by the water stream so it gives that romantic feeling. The only reason for cutting off a star is because the washrooms were super dirty! They should have it cleaned regularly since it’s a high traffic restaurant!
Cannot say anything about the restaurant - only that it’s beautifully located at the canal. But there were three great, fun guys selling Tarte Flambé to go. They were super nice without overdoing it. The food was decent. Great for good weather to find a nice spot in the park to sit and enjoy it!
The boat service was very nice, the tour guide was very friendly, and the food from the Tartes Flambée takeaway was actually good. However, the two guys serving there were really rude — they assumed we were Chinese, and when we said we weren’t, they reacted badly and asked “why?” Very unprofessional behavior. 😡
If you want to stress yourself with bad treatment this is the place. From the moment you arrive where you can’t decide where to seat (inside or outside) basically forced to smoke passively while you eat so they can give the impression that it’s full. I can accept a waiter not be able to speak any other language even in a very touristic place but I can’t accept to be treated badly because I can’t speak their language. The food would be ok if the whole point wasn’t sell as quickly as possible so you also leave as quick as possible.
If the idea is to enjoy a good time, THIS IS NOT THE IDEAL PLACE. Even with free tables, if you are waiting for part of the family to arrive you can expect a rude invitation to wait outside even if you want to drink or eat while you wait. Poorly educated employees who speak badly to customers. The feeling of heat inside the space is nothing more than a heater that is above the door when you enter. After 5 minutes inside, you'll start to realize that the feeling of warm space is really just that. The menu doesn't offer many options. The bathrooms are deplorable. I waited a week to write this review so that it wouldn't be a reaction to the whole situation, but no matter how long it takes, my opinion will always be this.
Im not a tourist in Colmar, so Im quite surprised by all the negative reviews about this place, specially the ones saying that its a "tourist trap". Yes, I can agree that the service can be not the most polite one ( though personally I have never experienced it myself, but I can easily imagine it). But, agreeing on all that, I have to say thay this place has by far the best flammekueche in the town.
This was one of the few places that served "Tartes flambées" between 14-19h, so we went inside and ordered one each. They are 12-13,50€, pretty small, not crispy. The dough is bought, so the ingredients for one cost less than 1€. Toilet is very small and was dirty.
The farte flambee is good enough for the prize. Colmar spritz de vincent is highly recommended!
There was a hair in the wine container. When we told the manager, they said it could be yours. They were very rude. We said we wouldn't pay for the wine, but they wanted us to pay the entire bill. What a disgraceful restaurant.
We were a bit hesitant after the reviews, but everything was so good! The tartes flambees/flammkuchen were amazing. The staff was super nice, they tried to understand our broken french mixed with English. We were there on a Saturday night and even though it was full, the drinks and food came super fast.
I was puzzled by the low rating this restaurant had, but after my visit, everything makes perfect sense. The experience was like a masterclass in how to drive customers away. From the start, we were told each person must order one drink and one pizza, even though the table next to us was happily sharing a single pizza without issue. Of course, not wanting to cause a scene, we followed the ‘rules’ and dutifully ordered two drinks and two pizzas. Then the real spectacle began. We waited for over an hour. No food. Not a single slice. We politely asked the waiter and waitress multiple times, but instead of doing something about it, they seemed determined to ignore us. To add insult to injury, parties that arrived long after us were happily enjoying their meals while we sat there, forgotten. At this point, it was hard not to wonder: is the staff actively sabotaging their own restaurant? Why else would they make us wait endlessly for food that never arrived? We weren’t rude, we weren’t demanding, and yet they treated us as though we didn’t exist. In the end, we paid for the drinks we didn’t want and left without ever seeing our pizzas. The bad reviews? Fully justified. If the service was this bad when we were being polite and accommodating, I can only imagine how they handle difficult customers. This restaurant is its own worst enemy.
