Parma was good but considering it’s Father’s Day so pretty busy they put several day old so called roast potatoes on the plate- they were pretty bad. Golden rule: you can’t re-cook spuds from the previous day/S and people won’t like them. Roast Potatoes must be cooked on the day.

After dining here tonight with the family of 8, I can honestly say I will never return. Trust me I understand we are still in a pandemic and I understand more than most the restrictions on hospitality. The service tonight was beyond disgusting. We were advised of the 1.5 hour seating, which we understood. What I didn't understand was why our plates were removed with food still on them, some of us still eating, at the one hour 10 minute mark. We were then confronted with abuse by the manager on leaving at the 1.5 hour mark. After spending $300 for a below average meal, where they forgot meals, then receiving abuse, I have come home filled with anxiety and disappointment after what should have been a nice night. The entire place had 28 people in the restaurant, with the sign on the door advising they could have 75. This is not a place to go if you want either a decent meal, or staff that will provide basic hospitality. As we eat out 3-4 times a week, we will now be looking for a regular place that understands how to treat customers without abuse.

Hotel has had a make over and looks bright and fresh as a result. The buffet has gone and a new menu introduced with senior pricing added instead of a separate seniors menu. The food was delivered to the table quickly and the super checked with us to make sure we were happy. We were. Noticed there is now a small seating area in the pokies, handy when waiting for the gamblers to finish. Only disappointment is the bar stools in the main bar smoking area. A great place to catch up with friends or family for a meal.

Great place for a group function. Plenty of parking and the staff are really friendly. Food is great and portions are big. The beer is cold and the drinks plentiful. I would highly recommend coming here for a night out with family and friends. The staff are fantastic.

Called in for lunch on the run. The food was actually very good! We probably shouldn't have eaten our meals in the sporting room as the atmosphere was terrible. Next time, we will check out the bistro.

Nice sports bar with 2 pool tables! Food was average only :( Chicken in the butter chicken was a bit over cooked… Chicken Parma was meh… Can’t go wrong with Somersby apple cider! Good cake and ice cream selection! Heard there’s indoor playground for kids!

Disappointed A $50 steak should be reasonable at best. I asked the lovely lady who served me if she could ask the chef what cut of meat he/she would recommend. (No options under $45) She went back to ask the chef and the 20 year old manager stopped her and came out and tried to explain what the cuts of meat were about with his vast experience and knowledge The rib eye is juicy but a bit smaller The porterhouse is a bit bigger The rump is if you are really hungry. The lady who took my order (who was absolutely lovely) apologised and said that she was not allowed to talk to the chef $50 steak Not happy Jan

Nice clean modern, quick service wasn't busy though. Not the largest range of meals but they were very nicely priced, I had the Green Thai flavour was beautiful, Nan had the barramundi and loved it. Definitely recommend

Lovely atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, menu with an abundance of choice to suit all food requirements, coffee cake deals and not to forget their very own distillery over the bar. Next time we're back in Melbourne, we'll be sure to stop by The Tempy!

Great local dinner spot in the heart of templestowe. The new renovations make such a massive difference, a big turnaround from what the tempy hotel used to be. Fit out is very modern with a lot of thought in the layout. Staff very friendly and most importantly food was beautifully cooked medium rare steak actually cooked properly with well portioned meals. A selection of deserts would be nice as the cake display is a bit of let down but overall good experience. Cold Beer on tap and beer from the tank is very good.

Food and service was good enough and pleasant, but it really annoys me that this pub, like the majority of pubs, won't put a handful of veggies on a kids meal when requested. It's ridiculous. Some kids like veggies and it should be a free option on all kids meals, not an $8 extra.

Pleasant atmosphere, good service and dishes were traditional and tasted reasonable. It was spacious and we could hear each other talk easily unlike many noisy and crowded restaurants.

Been here a few times, food is smorgasbord/buffet style and plentiful. I'm not really a fan of this "all-you-can-eat" style of eating and prefer to choose a meal from a menu. I find most buffet foods are a compromise of some sort as they have to be able to sit in a warmer for some time after cooking. It is very good value though, as entree, mains, desserts and coffee etc are all included in a 2 hour sitting. Only one dish from the 10 or so I tried was really good, a tender spinach and ricotta tortellini in a tasty tomatoe based sauce. Everything else was just "OK". Food was plentiful and constantly replenished. Place was very busy on a Thursday lunch, full of elderly presumably for the discounted pensioner special deal. Very very popular for parties and groups. Not fine or even great dining by any means but certainly good value with something for everyone. A complete meal for 5 hungry people with a couple of drinks was around $100.

Con artists! Kids eat free beware of small print. T and C's overcharge you then say not in school holidays. Apparently that's in the mysterious t and C's wherever they are. Spent over $600 but won't give a discount of $10 on the kids meal what a joke. Will not return! So glad it has cost them my repeat business. How tight do you want to be sucking in thousands in the pokies but don't want to honour a simple offer. Ultimate example of greed.

Food review: Atmosphere was nice, felt like the decor had splashes of updates. But some of it felt like it is aging. The seafood basket was good, crispy seafood and decent salad. Felt it was on the pricier end. Wanted to order the ribs special but they sold out. Staff were friendly enough.

We stopped by for a rest and refreshments on our travel through the area. Great views of surrounding area. Ample parking too. Very friendly staff and quick service. Clean and ample restrooms. Only downfall, elevator not working so a bit hard on the legs and back for the oldies like me. We didn't eat but the dishes passing by looked very appetising, we'll make an effort to stop for diner next time in town.

The food was fantastic, there was a great drink selection on offer and staff were (mostly) friendly and helpful. The kids' area is pretty small, and my kids (3 and 4) got bored relatively quickly. I think something needs to be done in peak times for ordering food (like another till or two) as the line was incredibly long. Besides kids' food, separate orders for one table should come out at the same time (we had food come out and then the rest 20 minutes later). Overall great experience and we will be back.

Great menu with lots of variety, catered for dietary for one us and we're super helpful, pool tables are in good order and at $2 good value, good range of beers, what more can be said👍🏼 I have to say my Parma was huge and amazing, I opted for the three pigs Parma with chorizo and bacon, I did change the barbeque sauce for Napoli but next level, bold statement as I have had alot of parmas in alot of places but it was unbelievable, the guys who ate my left overs agreed, one of the best parmas in Australia 👏🏼🍻 everyone was happy with the meals, except Bolognese but who gets that at a pub except kids 🙈 will definitely be back to see what the rest of the menu is like 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 was definitely earned

We came as a group of six for Saturday lunch. Very nice environment, good outlook over the surrounding greenery and view, noise pleasantly low, ambience good, food was good quality. Vegetables sides were well selected, it’s not a Michelin starred restaurant, but very pleasant pub food, excellent place for family groups, in a nice atmosphere. We ate the seniors menu, which included dessert, with cakes, panacotta and a wonderful raspberry sorbet, which reminded me of Berthillon in Paris on the Ile de la Cite

Have enjoyed dining on several occasions at Tempy Pub. The food variety and quality is great with lots of healthier options. I was super impressed with the service when I dined with my extended family, a group of 17 people on the Sunday before Christmas. The pub was at capacity and we still managed to get our meals in a timely manner. Staff are friendly and are great at making adjustments to meals. Would highly recommend for large groups and groups with children also.

We dined on the spur of the moment heading home to our accommodation Such a lovely looking pub with great reviews and a good looking menu too 👍🏻 Husband ordered the grilled Barra and I put a twist on Carbonara with homemade gnocchi …should be good I had considered the Veal Scallopini but on ordering I thought a change was nearly as good as a holiday 😉 Shortly after ordering a guy comes to our table to advise the kitchen wasn’t happy with the gnocchi this evening so would I like to change to spaghetti or maybe fettuccine Well somewhat disappointed I chose fettuccine …and yes not only was the fettuccine in hard clumps but the saucy carbonara had split and was like pools of oil in my meal I tolerated for a few mouthfuls but it really wasn’t very palatable so I spoke to a server and was happily able to change my meal …yes I had the Veal Scallopini …which was delicious …thankfully

The all you can eat buffet is gone and the interior has been renovated. It's a much nicer place to be in now and there's plenty of space between tables for those worried about social distancing. The parma at $25 is pretty good value given the huge size of the thing. We will keep coming back.

Very nicely renovated. A big step from what it was. Very nicely set up. Meals good size but lacking in extra voomph to set it apart from other pubs. Pleasant staff. Attentive. Good choice of beers. Just meals not outstanding but atmosphere great and look and feel of the place xlnt. Great effort. Worth trying.

Come on chef!! $32 for a plant based Parma without chips! Add chips for $8 makes a Parma meal $40🤣🤣🤣🤣. Lots of work to do on the plant based offering team. Absolutely astonishing to be this ignorant to industry norms. 1 vegan option on the menu. Have a think about updating your menu and bring it into this century. I suspect the chefs are also still doing split shifts as well 🤷

Went to the Tempy with family who wanted to check it out after the big renovation. The last time I had been there it was still an all you can eat buffet much loved by some of my outlaws. This place wouldn't have been my first choice for a day out but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I had a steak which was very good and all at our table enjoyed the food. The Carlton Tank beer was a real novelty and as an added bonus I discovered that the Bathurst 1000 was on in the front bar on the biggest screen I've seen in years. I made my excuses and.......

Went out for dinner with my father about a week ago here. Definitely not going back. The food was terrible compared to when the place used to be all you can eat. You have to go up and order your food at the counter instead of a waiter coming and asking for your order. The staff seemed rude and judge although some seemed very nice and welcoming. To be honest, the entrees were better than the mains. The mains tasted like they were made an hour or a few hours before and all pre made. The food was just unpleasant to eat that we ended up giving it back to the restaurant and not eating it. They did not offer us a refund at all.

We waited one and half hours for our meal to arrive. I asked for a medium to well done steak but it was rare! I never complain about a meal but this was the worst meal I’ve ever had at a hotel. It was the Surf and Turf $50.

The worst warm chicken salad I have had, i got a quarter of chicken fillet on mine and that is being generous, the rest of the bowl was spinach leaves with 3 olives and some cheese. Family members had the parma, that looked delicious and they were both happy with it

Once you have made it past the pokies or through the sports bar you are left with a very spacious place for eating. Bistro is too fancy a word for it. Lacking in atmosphere.

I enjoyed my lunch at the Templestowe Hotel. The seniors menu had plenty of choice and the meals were plentiful and presented nicely. Good garlic bread! With a few tables booked it is quite noiisy. I have good hearing but my husband couldn’t join in the conversation with too much background noise. Nevertheless it is a good choice for lunch.

We had a group of 14 for a birthday dinner on Thursday 17th August and we couldn't get over the attentiveness of all the staff. The food was fabulous, service was immaculate, and the overall dining experience was superb. We will all definitely be back and special shout out to Noah, Katherine, Erin, Abbey, Corey, Madi and all the rest of the staff who looked after us & thank you Chefs. We are locals but others came from further afield and would not hesitate to revisit this excellent venue. Well done to all ☺

We had a baby shower on the weekend and were extremely disappointed. I have never been to a venue with customer service this poor. The boys behind the bar were amazing however a few of the waitresses need to reconsider their choice of job. We had waitresses slam food on the table because we had raised an issue. When we complained to the manager they accused us of swearing at the waitress which absolutely did not happen. There was plastic in our arancini to which they took the plate with no apology or compensation. They kept rolling their eyes and being dismissive when we would raise any of the constant issues coming up. Months in advance I specifically asked for vegetarian meals however these were not organised. In addition they told me guest that I had never requested it. I told them I wanted a tab on the bar, once again months in advance and yet I had to ask them to do it on the day. Overall, it was a horrible experience for my baby shower and my guests. It gave me so much anxiety having to deal with the manger and staff who were clearly not happy about us being there.

Hadn't been here for 20+ years so was great to go back and revisit a pretty good pub from the early naughties. Immediately upon entering I noticed that i was missing the silver hair that was clearly part of a uniform that all patrons wear so felt a little out of place but soldiered on with the family. It was busy which is always a good sign and the menu has a large array of items to choose from. There was a clear red flag with a specific "parma" section but the "charred to perfection" scotch fillet caught my eye. I decided on the chips and vegies option with a mushroom sauce to accompany my charred to perfection steak. I went up and ordered our dinners along with a buffalo wing entrée with a blue cheese dressing and a couple of drinks and the service was wonderful. I was getting excited. Drink was exactly as I had requested so i headed back to my table. The lovely ladies on the table next to us, who were enjoying some delicacies from the seniors menu, kept singing the praises of the establishment so you can understand my excitement was now at fever pitch. Barely 10 mins passed and "BANG" we have buffalo wings and blue cheese sauce on the table. Buffalo wings were an interesting Chernobyl inspired colour and blue cheese sauce looked a lot like mayonnaise. Flavour was ok for the wings but the sauce was definitely mayonnaise and flavoured with what could only be described as foot cheese. That was the really good dish. Then came the heralded perfectly charred scotch fillet and vegies. Lets start with the good..... The chips were quite nice. Then came the bad..... the $46 scotch fillet had somehow had the moisture completely sucked from it. On closer inspection it was pink and dry. I'm not sure the good people at NASA would be able to explain that. Then came the bizarre. The vegetables. I believe the recipe would have been as follows. get a carrot, a zucchini and a cauliflower and cut like you're a 4 year old with a plastic spoon. Run under hot water and then throw on plate. A small suggestion I would make is salt. Probably wouldn't of helped but at least I could say it was seasoned. overall venue is pretty good and the staff are genuinely lovely however the food is....... you know what the staff were lovely so lets just say the chips are great and leave it at that. It may have been an off night so I look forward to trying again in the future and hope they find the moisture from my steak.

Came here tonight. Great atmosphere and the waiter and waitress were very good and friendly. Carbonara looked and tasted great. Unfortunately the chicken parmigiana was undercooked but management and the kitchen were very quick to rectify the situation, returning with a steak sandwich. Would certainly come here again.

My elderly Parents have dementia and don't eat much at all. I ordered them 2 kids meals because they don't eat much at all. They didn't even finish them! They played the pokies and put a fair amount of money in the machines. I was told they can only order off the seniors menu next time. This is ridiculous! They hardly eat! I am sure the hotel made plenty of money from them!!
