This place embodies quality and consistency. Food is delicious everytime. Our favourite is the vindaloo. The breads are always beautifully made. Mango lassi is a must try. The service is great everytime. The owner personally checks in with each table, don't see that happening nowadays. Very luck that this is one of my local restaurants...and it delivers!

one of the worst staff i have ever seen . very slow . These ppl donot know how to deal with customers. very rude. i was shocked y staff behaves very rude with uber eats drivers . (wats wrong in that if a person is waiting for his food he has every right to question you because u ppl are wasting his time . instead of having a apologies hw can u cuss on him). if u are unable to deliver food in a particular time jus inform at the first place dont waste our time.

Hospitality and Taste at its Best...One of the Best fine dining experience you can have in Melbourne at a reasonable price...Limited Veg options but both the mains we ordered were great in taste especially Malai Kofta...Paneer Makhni was not prepared in an authentic, it was more like Paneee Butter Masala but the Taste was great...Tried almost all the breads like Roti, Garlic Naam and Cheese Garlic Naam but Lachha Paratha is the Best...I would probably go back just to have that...Owner and the staff is very courteous...Ambience is nice as well...Not to be missed if you are around Eltham.

Please put more effort into your vegetarian dishes! Palak Paneer had barely any flavour, Aloo Palak had undercooked potatoes. Had to add salt. My garlic bread had no garlic on it either. Have had good meat dishes there but veggie dishes very dissapointing!

Would never buy from this place. Picked up takeaway on Friday 6th May. As I reached and paid, this guy had full on attitude and did not even say hi or hello. Took payment and did not say how long, I just waited. Came and passed 15 mins later (already 50 mins since I ordered while I was told 30). Got home and paneer tikka had a piece of chicken (it was for friends that do not eat meat/poultry). Entire set of food was full of oil and tasted stale and pretty much tasteless. I guess you guys are banking on people that probably do not know what authentic Indian food is. One of the worst places

Genuinely the best Indian I've ever eaten. The menu covers a lot of both popular and non-typical foods, and everything is done extremely well. Waiting staff and owner are kind and attentive. I have recommended this place to everyone I know!

Sensational food. Lucky it’s local. Having said that we would happily drive a couple of hours to get here as the food is so good. Butter chicken and Saagwala a favourite with the family as are the mango lassi and garlic naan. Whatever you choose you will not be disappointed. Always fresh and very, very tasty

Beautiful food full of flavour using quality ingredients. Garlic nan is buttery and light, Tandoori Prawns probably the juciest and tastiest prawns i have ever eaten, more traditional Indian curries which arent swimming in too much ghee. It may be slightly more expensive but worth it. Better value to phone and place delivery order direct with restautant vs. Uber Eats who charge up to $2 more per dish which soon adds up if you are ordering a lot.

Really good food, a go to place for me :) Open fairly late on Friday and Saturday nights which is ideal if you're working till 9-10pm and want to pick some up for takeaway after work. If you're hungry and near Eltham I urge you to try this place out.

I ordered butter chicken, tandoori platter and cheese garlic naan for take away and I requested them to make it Indian style and not very sweet thankfully, we really enjoyed it! Chicken was flavoursome and tender, I would surely come back and try new dishes. One of the best restaurant so far in Eltham/ Greensborough area.

I'm in love with this restaurant. I went there twice in 2 weeks. I love it more now. Especially the owner is very humble and witty. He made us very comfortable and homely there. I never enjoyed myself in a restaurant this much in a long time. Would highly highly recommend it to all the indians who love to try new spicy and tangy flavours even in a simple dish. You wouldn't regret it for sure.

I love this restaurant. I come here with my friends often and they are always so helpful while providing the most amazing food. I also ordered through Uber Eats and forgot to mention I wanted to alter one of their dishes. I called the restaurant and they were so kind and able to meet my request without any hesitation. Couldn’t speak more highly of Machan!

Placed a large takeaway order to cater a birthday party. The consensus was how delicious the food was and most people went back for 2nd and 3rd helpings. The dishes that received the most compliments were the Dhal Makhani, Chicken Khurchan, Tandoori Chicken and garlic Naan bread. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. I have also dined in previously and service is always impeccable. I highly recommend! Outside of India it is some of the best Indian food I've had, the food really does speak for itself!

We spent our Valentine's day in Machan and the owner was a very friendly person gave all the dinners a big lindth chocolate. The chicken tikka masala was very nice, but the chicken biryani could be much better if the rice had been cooked longer and became softer and had more spices. By the way will try more dishes there in the future. Thanks

I just had dinner at Machan this evening. Always a brilliant experience. Great food, kind and helpful efficient service. I am proud to know the owner and to call it my favourite family restaurant in Eltham. I highly recommend Machan for an authentic and delightful eating out experience. The owner goes o er and above to make us feel welcome every time.

Best Lamb Biriyani ! Wow! Could not possibly execute such a dish at home that even comes close to the expert hand of the chefs here. Often an afterthought dish to curries...this was fragrant, generous and simply perfect. We ate in, and I recommend as such.. Also, the prawn tandoori special was ABOVE and BEYOND. The staff were kind to make a half serve (4 prawns for $11) for our daughters, and it was DIVINE. Thankyou to the chef, and young team serving us the other night. Not our first dining here, but certainly the best.

Disappointing. Look, if you have no dietary requirements, go ahead and eat here, the food is good. However, I follow a plant-based/Vegan diet, and every time I ordered my take away I verified my dish will be just that. Each time the answer was yes, even when hesitated at first and Put me on hold to check. After ordering the same dish a few times, when asked for it to be vegan, I was told "We use a pinch of butter" in it. To my question, if that can be avoided, they said no. So basically, I have either been either lied to, or this restaurant staff has no idea of their dish's ingredients. Either way, I Will not be eating there again.

Caters to the Aussie/western palate given it's location. Very muted flavours. As a South Asian you might want to steer clear unless you have no other option. The owner is nice though!

Machans has always been the best. I've been going there since I was a child over 17 years. Every time I go, even now; the owner gives me a lollipop just like he used to. Wonderful food, wonderful people.

Placed a large order last week and found that each container only had 4-5 small pieces of meat in heaps of sauce. Should have more meat considering the prices they charge. Flavours were good.

Naan bread is really good! But do NOT get the the vegetarian meals, especially lentils, they're bland and badly made to the point where they made me a little ill. Naan bread was great tho

Best Indian food I've eaten in Australia, never mind Melbourne & Victoria. Very polite service, it may seem that the food takes a short while to reach your table, but if you want freshly prepared, delicious food, the time doesn't matter.

My partner and I went here for a local date for our anniversary. I had been here before years ago remembered the food was good but couldn't remember much else. We were greeted by the owner with a smile as were seated. The menu had a lot of options including vegetarian options. We picked the pretty stock standard butter Chicken, lamb Roganjosh and beef korma with a side of garlic naan as well as two spirits from the drink menu. When my gin and soda arrived I noticed less bubbles than expected and after a smell I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was because there was a lot of gin. My partners whiskey on the rocks was the same, a good at home pour which normally would be charged at a double shot rate price (but it wasn't). The food was all VERY nice and we both left quote "the fullest we have been since Christmas". All food was served with a smile and the owner real did go the extra to ensure we both left full and happy. Would recommend to anyone. Lovely local restaurant.

We had take away Butter chicken, palak paneer and aloo paratha. I asked it for a little spicy and it was. 😃Decent amount of food, tasty and paratha was nice and hot. Thank you. Will be back again, maybe for a sit down.

Great service, friendly staff happy to accommodate vegetarian and GF, nice atmosphere. Large portion sizes. If you want hot and spicy though, ask for extra hot, because standard is not hot at all.

Great food and great service, was take away but the staff were still accommodating to our requests. We ordered the chicken biryani and chicken Madras, can't fault the food or the taste. Definately will be going back to eat in next time

I ordered takeaway from Machans indian last night. The pakoras were delicious as they were the previous week. Crisp and tasty. I also ordered the recommended lamb saagwala. This appeared to be a sauce of frozen spinach with little flavour and chunks of precooked lamb. Very unappetising. I rinsed off the sauce and gave it to the dog. She wouldn’t eat it either. Sorry to be so harsh, but I’m an over 70 female and I’m sick of being treated like an idiot. For $18 I expect an edible meal.

The food was lovely having most classic meals and some specials on the board. I can recommend the pumpkin masala. There was a wide variety of Indian breads. We shared amongst 6 people and there was more than enough and the staff gave us suggestions not to order too much. It was BYO wine only. The service was very good and our waiter made sure we had everything we needed. They have takeaway service as well. I had a great lunch the next day with the leftovers

Don’t buy any biriyani from here. We can’t say it’s a biriyani….. it’s not good quality. Their biriyani is totally different than the actual one….
