A really great atmosphere and fantastic service. All the dishes were great, the only 2 negatives I have is that the octopus was a little tough and the Eggplant chips were just a tad empty of Eggplant. BUT the flavours were great in all the dishes, presentation was beautiful and I enjoyed the drinks! Gracias!

When you are looking for a late lunch / early dinner and all the other cafe's have closed, this is a sure bet. I had their signature burger with onion rings, and the wife had lamb cutlets. Both were delicious - although the cutlets would have been better if they had been Frenched (fat removed). Update: Returned on 27 April and had a tasty trio of dips and a carafe of sangria while we waited for a mixed paella. The paella was tasty, but had no crust.

Sat night dinner out with a good friend :) found this place and gave it a quick call before driving over, nice and easy! Enjoyed it very much with their specials, Mac & Cheese croquettes, satisfied both craving and hunger 😋 pickled octopus can be served warm or cold which is thoughtful as there are different seasons to cater. Pork belly tacos were delicious, and Churros' portions were super generous, ideal for sharing among a group of 3 or 4. Parking was easy around (2P), will definitely go again.

Barr’d offers a level of service that continues to set a high standard for dining out locally in 2023. Our selections from the menu and wine list were delivered promptly and were super fresh and delicious. Friendly, attentive, yet unobtrusive service from staff is always present. We’ll be back soon.

Staff are super friendly and accomodating. Ample servings so our only mistake was ordering too much but don't let that stop you as all of it was delicious! The calamari is by far my favourite - it's cooked to perfection so compliments to the chef and the staff!

The fish hake was really nice followed by the buffalo cauliflower. The nachos were pretty standard and the lamb cutlet were nice but the skin was a bit mushy. Customer service was one of the best I have experienced.

One of the best paella I’ve ever tried in Mel. Each serving is required to be cooked over 30 minutes, thus, the rice is not hard to chew and all ingredients mixed together. Seafood is so yummy, just one dig spoon, your tongue will be satisfied. Plus, everyone is so nice, strongly recommend if you are in Melbourne.

Nice to have a friendly local bar to come to when the kids are at footy training. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! The local beers and the fact they have coffee all the time (not all of us stop coffee at 3pm), plus a wide ranging menu is a bonus. The friendly staff is really the thing that makes it a great place to hang out by yourself. I have also had group bookings here and they were very accommodating.

Massive paella with a lot of ingredients. The lamb chop & pork belly tacos are both delicious. Fried eggplants are great too! Well priced, will come back again.

Dinner 12/03/22 Amazing staff & food, plus dog friendly!! Really great venue, the food was all incredible but the winner was the bread and prawns with the delicious sauce! So good! The staff and other customers loved our little pup and the lovely staff brought out a bowl of water for our little man! Really good find!

Great list of wines, spirits, beers plus cocktails ,also heaps of choices of standard beverages. Good menu choice for food be it Vegan, Vegetarian and GF. Tapas as well as burgers are available. Friendly staff and a very cool vibe.

A rare gem in Ivanhoe! Welcoming and friendly service. We felt like we were well looked after, even though the place was very busy. The food was great, quantity and quality-wise (churros are enough for two people!). And the place was buzzing for a Tuesday night! Lively ambiance. If you don't like the hustle and bustle inside, you can sit outside. Definitely worth one visit... and another!

Huge shout out to our waitress. She was actually awesome. The food though was bland and the pulled meat in both the sliders and the tostaditas were full of fatty bits. We struggled to enjoy any of the 4 dishes we chose. Cocktails and Japanese whiskey was good though.

I booked last minute for an early Sunday dinner and they were able to fit us in. Service was great, waiter even filled our water glasses without asking. Orders were taken promptly. Cocktails were excellent quality. Food was delicious, great variety, there’s so much on the menu it was hard to choose but will definitely have to come back another time to try more! We also got take home cheesecake for dessert which was delicious.

Had such an amazing night celebrating my mums birthday. The food and cocktails were amazing. It was so busy but Cass and Gabby were absolutely amazing and always serving us with a smile even when the chef/owner was yelling at them. These girls made the night feel so much more welcoming when anyone else would have been stressing. Thank you for a great night girls.

My family of five visited tonight and normally we have a problem with other restaurants where someone doesn’t like the food or it is super expensive. Here it was very good food. Excellent service. Great value. I asked each family member and they loved each meal.

The service was excellent but this place has a bit of a weird vibe. It's not clear what it is trying to be. They seem to cater for locals as the local pub, as a result the pub atmosphere can be off-putting if you are expecting a tapas and wine bar experience (the locals may like this). The menu is a reflection of this pub feel - a burger menu, way too big deep fried croquettes and overall slightly bland flavours (likely catering to the locals), with a mix of Asian and Greek inspired dishes (which was also strange). My assessment is that the food resembles someone who has never travelled to Spain or been trained in Spanish cooking attempting to replicate the look of Spanish food (even if the flavour and textures are not correct).

My favourite bar in the world. Maybe even my favourite place in the world. Amazing food (put jalapenos on their spicy chicken burger, thank me later), an insane collection of craft beers in the fridge and local legends Bentspoke on tap. The staff are unparalleled in their attentive and thoughtful customer service, with their eye for customer needs putting other bars to shame. Oh yeah and they also have the best tapas on this side of town.

The food, service and atmosphere was most enjoyable. Celebrating our daughter/sister's birthday with family this evening. Will definately recommend Barr'd to family and friends.

I have been going to Barr'd for years now. It is a wonderful venue in the hub of East Ivanhoe and renowned for years of delivering wonderful service, alcohol and tapas food with music and sports - depending on the day and date. The ambience, service, food and selection of beverages just get better with time. Ari (the owner) is a true professional and passionate about the overall experience he provides to all his patrons - be it locals or those that come from afar based on referrals. I have booked out Barr'd on several occasions for special celebrations and my needs, every time, have been exceeded. I enjoy going up for a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night cocktail or two; or a Sunday afternoon meal or a midweek coffee and churros. It is a multi-purpose venue and conducive to a get together with friends or family. The staff are always friendly, attentive and very obliging. The decor is impressive and Ari is always at the forefront of improvements/upgrades to enrich patron's experiences and achieve best outcomes for his customers. The food is awesome and a great menu for having a little bit of everything to satisfy the taste-buds. If it is not already a "fave" - be sure to visit and it will become one - that's a guarantee!

First time visiting this hidden gem .. Blown away by the hospitality, the food and cocktails . One of the best espresso martini I have had .. The nachos with guac and sour cream hit the spot .. Will be going back again for sure .. very soon.

A nice local place to get a drink with friends. The waitress was really nice and gave us a reserved table as a little crowded with men. Suspect had been a game on the TV earlier.

Surprisingly quirky little place, with an excellent selection of cocktails as well as flavourful tapas food. Easy on the palate, less easy on the hip-pocket, but for a ritzy night out it's a very good deal!
