I have never been treated so poorly as a coeliac vegan eater as I was in this bar. I could not recommend enough to stay away from this venue if you are at all progressive in your ways of thinking. I understand outside food isn’t typically allowed in a restaurant but as a group invited to a celebratory drink, I came to this venue today. No options on the menu for me other than white jasmine rice, I decided to head next door to Max’s to grab a snack whilst everyone else ordered food from this place (over $200 of food, may I add), as no other options were available for me and I didn’t feel like plain rice. Being discriminated against for having dietaries isn’t common these days in 2022, but it was today. I cannot believe the rudeness displayed by the owner of the venue, again I’ll state I’ve never been so badly treated in any place I’ve eaten in 20 years+. If you aren’t an allergy friendly venue, I’m not sure what you expect us to do as customers other than skip a meal with loved ones. So disappointed and brought to tears by the ladies rudeness, she was obviously stressed and overworked but their style of communication definitely needs work, instead of straight up aggression. My family will never be coming here again, as they were also shocked at the terrible behaviour of the management staff.

Rude and few options. We sat at an outdoor table of 6 all ordering meals and drinks. 1 patron brought over an individual portion of hot chips from a neighbouring restaurant due to allergies (no listed gf+v options on menu) owner told said patron off and left them in tears. Owner still wouldn’t let it go after second altercation. We offered to pay for portion of hot chips to subsidise their business, offer was refused. Our table decided to leave as we felt uncomfortable. Thanks for owner #2 for trying to fix the problem but the damage was done from the rudeness received from the female manager.

What a gem of a place. Owner greeted us as soon as we entered. Recommended dishes to try. Kept keeping in touch to see how we were going. Open mic night was an added bonus we weren't expecting. Do yourself a favour, check it out.

What a fantastic little bar, punching well above its weight. Staff are fantastic and the selection of beers, wine and whiskeys is a battle to choose your favourite. On the high side of the street it's a great spot for an afternoon session in the sun.

Great food, great beverages, excellent service from friendly staff. The live tunes make for a great atmosphere as well. I can't praise this place enough. I suggest you get down there and experience it for yourself. A big thank you to Linc & Mel for looking after us.

Quirky, cosy and ambient bar in sleepy Monty village situated on the quintessential Were street. Friendly & hospitable long term owners serving quality share plates with an Asian twist. A great little spot to unwind after a long day at work for a beer & some tasty food (with friendly service) 🙂

Always love stopping in here for a brew on the way to the footy with dad. Great service and a great rotating selection, always worth dropping by.

Nice atmosphere, nice music, unfortunately they advertised puppets but no puppets arrived. Will return, as staff accommodated requests for puppets in the future. Great venue!

Exotic Asian fusion type menu. Super cozy interior, you can tell the cooks love what they do. Great little place.

The reviews were enticing and after being drawn in by the 4.6 rating, I decided to give Grape & Hop Wine Bar a go. The atmosphere and decor was quiet nice however the waitress serving us just seemed like she wasn’t happy to be working and wasn’t very friendly/made it seem like answering menu questions and taking our order was a chore. Having this as a first impression definitely stuck with me for the whole dining experience. The food itself on this day was mediocre - the oysters had a very strong, fishy smell which was a huge indicator that they were not fresh and the Kingfish was also served to us still frozen. The egg nest salad and the fried chicken was good, however unfortunately this wasn’t enough to make me feel any better about the experience. Personally, I wouldn’t dine here again in future.

Nice atmosphere but a bit pricey. Some of the dishes were really good but twice now l have ordered the king fish and it's been partly frozen. The service was a little off the second time.

Amazing experience. My friend and I just went for one drink, but the bar had a very homey feel and clearly had a close team. Everyone was super nice, especially a waitress called Mary. We had the cocktails: Whiskey Sour and the Chocolate one - would recommend both, as they were both super strong and very flavourful!

Let's start with the behaviour of one waitress with the nose ring. It's your behaviour and lack of knowledge of what the wine list is all about and no knowledge of what beers are on offer and no idea how to be respectful towards paying customers that has incurred this poor rating. Girl, you need to grow up and the owners of this establishment need to train you or fire you. You acted like you were working at Karen's. To the owners, don't say you are a hop bar if you have only 3 beers available on the night. Your wine list is great and reasonably priced. Your food was good but generally overpriced and your chef over fried the beef wontons and sucked all the life out of them,a fail. The chilli oil they sat on was horrible, no heat, no flavour nothing. The winner was your KFC sliders. Thank God for Korean Fried Chicken. This place is worth a visit but avoid ordering those extra small parcels of overpriced overcooked beef wontons and avoid the grumpy young waitress with the nose ring. Hopefully they also sort out their beer list and their kitchen. Great to have Asian infused but don't charge a bomb for sub standard food.

Visiting from regional Victoria, we had a fabulous late lunch here last weekend after a recommendation from my Mum. We were warmly welcomed by Lincoln (the owner) who explained the "specials" menu to us. Lincoln is very passionate about his bar and the food that he serves. I originally had my heart set on a Pho but after seeing all the delights on the menu we decided to order a number of small plates instead so we could sample a variety of different Asian cuisines. This definitely did not disappoint and was perfect with the refreshing beer we were enjoying. Highlights were the Korean Fried Chicken Sliders and the Yakitori which were outstanding but to be perfectly honest everything we ate was delicious. Unfortunately due to all the work currently going on in Were Street and the station local businesses are suffering through the bedlam but this bar/restaurant definitely deserves support. We will certainly be back.

What a great night! Asian delights for the meals, the wine offerings were fantastic and the acoustic duo topped off a wonderful night. Highly recommend for a relaxing night out.

Lincoln is Merlin. His cave is sophisticated and his service is a surprise. I never ask for a standard drink because he is a gifted barman. Go and be surprised.

The grape and Hop, wine bar has changed the personality of Were St. It is a unique experience outside the pub and R.S.L. scene and offers a great alternative. The 2 outside areas create a relaxed atmostphere when trying one of the craft or established beers, supported by a quality range of wines and champagne. It is a pleasure to talk to patrons travelling from afar.

I'm a fan of this cozy watering hole. Nice vibe, reasonably priced drinks, friendly staff. I enjoyed the layout of the bar too with 3 drinking areas, inside at the bar, out the front and out in a little courtyard at the rear.

We thought we’d pop in and try the new Asian menu. The food was extremely tasty, fresh and fun. They had so many options to choose from and catered for all food requirements. Servings were well sized and each so unique in flavours. The Staff were lovely and very helpful with the menu. The ambience was great. Really cool that the wine bar is attached for a couple of after dinner drinks listening to live music. The fried ice cream is a winner.

Best place for modern Asian. You’ll feel like you’re dining in the city, but it’s local and amazing! Only wish the specials could stay on the menu permanently and not disappear!!!!! 10/10 food, service and hospitality.

😐 Food tastes great 👍 they sure love their spices and I like the kick of it. Fish and pork tacos were great but chorizo taco wasn't good because of the rubbery texture skin. It was unpleasant to eat.
