The dinner tasting menu of 5 courses for $99 was delicious, generous and a great way to try more of their large menu. The staff are friendly and passionate about the restaurant’s seasonal philosophy and explained that the menu changes every fortnight. The pasta and steak dishes were perfection. Good wine list, there was an option to have matched wines with the tasting menu. Lovely quiet ambience, great for dates or catch ups.

Had my belated birthday party this afternoon at the Little Black Pig & Sons. Four of us had the tasting menu plus matching wines (except the driver). Details available at their website. Five courses, all prepared with love and sophistication, in unbelievably generous portions. The wines match well, the service and the explanatory chats by David perfect. I seriously believe I may have to give up on other restaurants, Italian or otherwise. Will definitely be back, ignoring the free menu for the birthday boy.

Originally an Italian deli, Little Black Pig & Sons was transformed into an Italian restaurant by chef/owner David Lakhi. Their menu changes fortnightly, with a new menu released every 2nd Wednesday. You can choose to dine from their A La Carte menu, or their 5-course tasting menu for $120pp. They only use local, sustainable produce and implement nose-to-tail cooking throughout their dishes. We started off with fresh oysters with a tangy apple vinaigrette to cut through the creaminess, and followed by tartlets which were very fresh and light making them so easy to eat. The pear and caviar added sweetness and saltiness with a satisfying crunch of the tartlet shell. The finely chopped veal was accompanied by truffle butter which wasn’t overpowering - it was a balance of creamy aioli and the umami of truffle. Again, could eat many more of these easily! Both pastas were incredible - the pork sausage ragù was saucy, rich, generous in portion and deep in flavour. It was perfect to soak the focaccia in. The duck agnolotti was divine. The duck filling was incredibly tender and rich in the burnt butter and sage flavour but was so well-balanced. The portion of this pasta seemed small but after the richness of flavour and the additional sides, it was the perfect amount. The broccolini was great, tender and a good portion again. The tiramisu was delicious - a little different to others I’ve had, but nonetheless we wiped the plate clean. The sponge was soft but not too wet, the cream was nutty from the hazelnut liqueur. What a fantastic experience - the food was outstanding and the service was excellent throughout. They run like a well-oiled machine, even on a busy night. It may have been my first visit but it won’t be my last!

Charming place in the heart of heidelberg - you might miss it if you walk by but it is not a place to be missed! Stunningly high quality ingredients shine in each dish here. Gorgeous seafood. Good flavours. I even left dinner liking rhubarb! Fairly expensive but once you taste the food you can understand that you are paying for the quality.

Just wow! The 5-course tasting menu was so good and amazing value. The menu changes every two weeks, I almost want to come back every week so i can try all the delectable dishes. You can tell the ingredients are top notch and the flavour combinations are on point. The oysters were to die for! Who knew that pickled apple could elevate an already perfect morsel when au naturel. The polenta with mushrooms was a taste sensation, as was the squid ink spaghetti, which everyone raves about - rightly so! The service was so warm and friendly too. I'll definitely be back for the next special occasion. I never expected to find such a gem in the suburb I went to school in 😆

Beautiful Italian experience. Waiters were professional, friendly and attentive. Service was great and food was excellent. We ordered the beef carpaccio and oysters as entree and the spaghetti vongole and duck ragu pappardelle for mains. All were beautifully executed! Would return and definitely try their tasting menu.

The team at Little Black Pig & Sons have lost none of their ability during lockdown. In fact they have leapt out of the blocks. The food was again superb, with great service. The biggest problem with the wine list is just choosing something!

I have been dining at Little Black Pig & Sons since it reopened a couple of years back. Every dining experience I feel is a great experience. Consistency is key with the head chef's quality of dishes, that are not only well presented, but full of flavour. The staff are warm, welcoming and have great knowledge of the food and drinks menu, which helps when coming across a seasonal menu with fresh new produce. This is a must visit if you are in or around Heidelberg. A true local gem.

This is as good as it gets for outstanding food in Melbourne. No wonder it gets such brilliant reviews. We enjoyed the 5 course food experience, and what sheer delight that was. Everything we had was of such a high standard, fresh, clean, crisp and full of exquisite flavors. Service outstanding. Well done David and Emilia - this is like “dining out with Nonna in the kitchen”. We will be back with friends very soon! Peter

The food here was divine. Best meal I've had in years! We came for lunch on a weekday, the service was attentive and we got to chat to the chef. We got the 5-course tasting menu. All-round incredible experience, definitely my new go-to special occasions restaurant.

Dined her last night with a friend for the first time and we'll definitely be back. Every dish was great and the standouts were beef tartare, squid ink pasta and the tiramisu! Thanks to David, Matt and the staff there. Customer service was superb in addition to the great food.

Love, care, attention is what Little Black Pig is all about. From the freshness of the seasonal produce, down to the perfect harmony presented within each dish, down to the ambience and decor. It is an unassuming place at first glance but truly one of the best restaurants I've had. I had the tasting menu with my partner here for our anniversary, the food was nothing short of amazing. The pasta beats out even places I've been to in Italy in terms of taste, fullness of flavour and creativity. Not to mention the use of local ingredients. David the head chef, as many reviews has mentioned is attentive, genuine and it's easy to see the passion and love he has for his food and restaurant and staff. Not to mention the affordable pricing the menu is set at. Beating out many 'finer' Melbourne restaurants in both scope and flavour. Do yourself a favour and check this place out.

From service to wine matching and scrumptious food. All beyond expectations. The owner was so passionate and took the time to chat to all his guests, and all the staff were absolute class! Highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a special occasion. Quality above the rest! Well done, and thank you! 👍🏼❤️

Food, service, ambience: all exceptional. Exceptional is a word I rarely use, but there’s no adjective which fits Little Black Pig as well as this word. Our second time here, and once again we had the 5-plate tasting menu. My husband went for the seafood tasting menu and was not disappointed at all. Probably the best lobster he’s ever had. How many restaurants will have the chef / owner / patron come to visit each individual table after conclusion of service? Not many, I would say. However David came to see each table at the end of service, and even plated and served our delectable desserts. A-number-One, top-class all round!

The food is amazing! We had the tasting menu and everything was perfect. One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. The chef/owner interacted with us the whole evening from serving us, to recommending wine and just chatting. It was wonderful and personal, felt like our own private dinner. Thank you and we’ll definitely be back!

Once again a magnificent meal at Little Black Pig. David and his team do a fantastic job making everyone welcome and serving the most outstanding food. We ,six of us, had Sunday lunch here this week. We had the tasting menu and once again were amazed at how they manage to turn out such beautiful food. We had a lovely day, being entertained by David and his staff with their interesting chats, excellent service and great ambience with the refurbishments in the restaurant. I highly recommend Little Black Pig and Sons to anyone looking for an interesting , constantly changing menu, beautiful food, good wine list (some great Italian wines)and excellent service. You will pay a little extra above your normal suburban restaurant but it is more than worthwhile.

So fantastic to be back dining at LBP&Sons after the holiday break. David and the team always give diners fantastically fresh and authentic Italian cuisine. We’ve been going regularly for over 3 years - if you haven’t tried it, you must book in 2022!

We had an amazing night! Brilliant service and outstanding food. The special pasta (squid ink with vogole, calamari and half a lobster) was superb. The best meal I have had in years; generous servings, knowledgeable and helpful wait staff, and a chat with the chef topped off a celebration that was worth every cent.

I don’t say this lightly but this restaurant is by far the best restaurant on the North East location. Constantly changing their menu, the food quantity and the quality never disappoint. When dining in, the experience is joyful and memorable with their service and attention to detail. If you haven’t eaten here before, do yourself a favour and visit. David is a creditable chef along with his knowledge and passion to make customers come back for more.

What a wonderful experience at a local … we are within walking distance of this little gem, and it has taken quite some time for us to revisit. The current owners have restyled and done a magnificent job of the menu, the staff and the vibe. The food was superb and the wine list includes delightful samples of by the glass. We are looking forward to introducing our friends to this little bit of big city in the ‘burbs.

Fabulous food, wine, service and atmosphere! We had the tasting menu and found that it was filling while not being too huge (as is the fear with tasting menus), and every course was absolutely delicious. Bread was served when we sat down, and the bread was delicious too! We didn't choose the accompanying wines, but the wines we chose from the menu were also perfect. It was a really lovely evening out and I would recommend it to anyone who wants something a bit special. A real gem.

The degustation menu Is well thought out, the oysters were refreshing and tangy, scallops tender and juicy, lamb in celeriac beautifully cooked topped off with an affogato, a couple of great Australian wines and not forgetting the great company too, made for a memorable evening. The service was friendly and professional. This is a highly recommended restaurant, put it on your list.

Little Black Pig & Sons is not just a restaurant, it's an EXPERIENCE The food is simply outstanding complemented by an excellent selection of wines. The attentiveness from all staff elevated our experience to another level. The atmosphere and vibe is great making this place is a little gem. Compliments to the owner who truly knows how to run a successful restaurant. WORD OF CAUTION!!!! this place can become highly addictive.

Going in expectations were measured for a restaurant tucked away at the bottom of Burgundy Street. But once inside you could be forgiven for thinking you’re in a restaurant at the top of Collins Street. The ambience and decor are perfect and equal to any more “well known” establishments. Then the food arrives. The bread is delightful and I could have eaten it all night, but then I would have missed out on the rib eye which just melted in the mouth or the pork belly signature dish which was the best I had. The bar had been set high but dessert was up for the challenge. The tiramisu and the chocolate cake were both sublime. Everything is made on premises and the presentation of dishes is first class. Can’t wait to return and try the set menu with accompanying wines.

We love this restaurant - Little Black Pig such a treat to have this type of dining so close to home. Delicious food, beautifully presented. You might pay a few dollars more than the pub around the corner, but there’s no comparison. David’s (owner & chef) high standards are reflected in his restaurant. Once again, we were served a treat by dining at Little Black Pig. The food was exquisite and the staff are extremely obliging and friendly. I highly recommend their signature dish, roast maiale.

We had the most amazing birthday celebration yesterday, provided by owner and chef David, and his hard-working team. The lunch ran smoothly, the food was amazing - show-casing local and seasonal produce cooked to perfection, every course was memorable, and matched with equally impressive wines. Overall, everyone was full, content, the ambience was perfect, and everyone who attended has stated they will be back. David is so hospitable, the stand outs are definitely his homemade pastas, the pork belly and desserts. This restaurant is up there in our top list, and we have been to some of the best in town.... the best part is that it's very much our local... we are very lucky!!

My partner and I have been here numerous times for anniversaries, valentines days, and even with our families. It is always such a nice experience. We can tell David really cares about his menu - it changes fortnightly but the classic dishes are always there. He is always so happy to greet us and to top it off, the food is always delicious! They are also very accommodating to nut allergies, with waiters and waitresses that are very familiar with the ingredients on the menu. We will be back very soon!

We ordered 3 entrees which we shared, they were delicious and good sized serves. Serving some home made bread to start with was a lovely touch.Mains were tasty and enjoyed by all three ( pasta dish with wild boar ragu and baked fish) We were too full to enjoy dessert, however, a small piece of tiramisu was brought to the table for sharing. Wine list presents a very good selection both from Australia and Italy. price point is reasonable. Good selection of wines by the glass. My daughter had never been before. She enjoyed the food and ambience that no doubt she will return.
