I wouldn't recommend staying at this hostel. While the rooms are comfortable, there are several issues that detract from the overall experience. The electrical sockets are unreliable and do not work properly. As a gesture of goodwill, they provided a low-quality power battery that hardly functions and fails to recharge. The bathrooms are well-designed but lack functionality. In some rooms, the sensor-based lighting system fails to turn on, while in others, it turns off even if you're still inside. Taking a shower and having to constantly move towards the sensor every minute is embarrassing. The kitchen also closes at 11 PM, which is not convenient, especially given the isolation of the surrounding area from the rooms. The hostel lacks a typical "hostel-like" atmosphere, and guests are quite isolated. There are no communal activities or events to bring everyone together. Despite being aware of the issues with their systems, the staff doesn't seem willing to make any meaningful effort to address your needs unless you're willing to pay a significant fee for it. For positives, the staff is overall nice, the location is alright (near a lot of shops and restaurants), and the Wi-Fi connection is quite stable.

Pros: The property is brand new & very clean. It was easy to find my way around. The bedding provided was nice. Every staff member I interacted with was absolutely amazing & extremely helpful with my late luggage arrival situation. Cons: None of the outlets in the hostel bunk beds were working. This only left 2 plug-ins for the entire room of 12 guests. The motion-sensor light in the bathroom would also not register if someone was in the shower so the lights would turn off every minute. The hand dryers didn’t work on our floor & towels were not provided so no way to dry your hands. Luggage lockers were also small. Very limited outlets in the dining area. Not a very “social” hostel. The window in our room was frosted & I would’ve loved to see the view from the higher floor.

Do not stay here for more than a few days! (At least not in its current state). The hostel opened in November 2023, we stayed for 3 nights a few weeks after opening. The outlets in rooms do not work, and neither do the individual bunk lights. They were providing portable chargers for free with built in lightning cable, but there was no way to charge other devices but use the UK outlets in the hallway or downstairs. The restrooms are clean but hand driers do not work. Showers are clean but motion sensor turns off the lights every minute when in the shower, and the drains don’t work all that well. Rooms are overall pretty nice, beds are comfortable and there is a privacy screen to your individual bunk. Location is very nice, you’re a 10-15 minute walk from pretty much everything you need, including a train station at Tara St. Staff are nice friendly and accommodating.

I was blown away by the care and attention of every staff member here. I stayed for one night during the unrest in Dublin on Nov 23, and the staff was going above and beyond to make everyone feel safe and tended to amidst a wild night. The people I met in the hostel were lovely, the room was quiet and spacious. I want to thank Clink-I-Lar for being such a refuge and a place for us to come together through kindness and compassion that night. It really made an impression on me, and I will return here on future trips to this great city!

Immaculately clean room with an AMAZING view. I stayed for 1 night mid-week and got hotel-level accommodation for a fraction of the price! ...which is saying something for Dublin! Great location, a short walk from pretty much everything. My one criticism was the loud air-con in the room. I'm a very light sleeper, so the loud air-con noise kept me awake quite a lot, with no visible way to control or switch it off from within the room.

Fantastic atmosphere - incredibly helpful staff - lovely lounge - nice bar - didn't try the food but it's nice to have the option of eating a real dinner. The hostel is very modern - it feels like a hotel. There are individual showers and toilets instead of one large shared bathroom area and that's what really upped this place from a really nice hostel to almost a hotel in my eyes

On a November weekday staying €40 per person is a nice price to be in Dublin City center, with a tram (locally, Luas) Station, a food shop, a collection of multi ethnic restaurants at 3 min walk, and just at the back of one of most commercial street in Dublin. This bunk bed hostel is just one month old as of today, public furniture are new and very clean. Worthy to stay.

If you’re staying in November 2023 phone up to check they actually have electricity in the bunks. No electricity means no charging devices and no lights. Just lying in the dark trying to conserve phone battery. They offered us portable chargers which got at max 5% charge on our phones. An early check out at 10am and have to make your own beds.
