This was our first pub in Dublin and one of our favorites. Patrons seemed to be mostly tourists, probably due to its fame as being the oldest pub in Dublin. The Guinness here is on point and service wasn’t amazing but definitely fair. There are several rooms to the pub along with an outdoor area so don’t get discouraged if you don’t find seating at the first area you see. I had the beef and Guinness stew which was very good. Make sure to explore the rooms and read the writings on the walls.

Knowing the history of the place, I absolutely had to go and I'm glad I did! The atmosphere and staff were both lovely. The food arrived quickly and when I say good - I dream of that sauce! Absolutely delicious and the drinks were cold and hit the spot. Absolutely recommend if you're in Dublin!!

A historical pub with lots of energy and good vibes! Great flavorful food and service. I ordered the savory Beef Stew and washed it down with a pint of Rockshore Irish Ale. I'll definitely be visiting this pub again when I return to Dublin.

Oldest pub. It has its charm with the stone entrance and all the history stuck to the walls. Literally! Service was fair but would only recommend for a quick pint as you read everything that has been written on the walls. Many different rooms with their own stories to tell. Live music was nice.

One of the best tourist traps in Dublin! Their Guinness is better than any other Pubs I've tried in Dublin and around the world. Also they offer lovely Beef Guinness Stew. The live music was very heart-warming. I could see a lot of locals (especially elderlies) sitting around, clapping, smiling and singing. The atmosphere was just so nice. The band was also a silver-haired one, but it doesn't mean that they are not doing well, and they actually performed super well (better than most of the young bands, the drummer and guitarist were incredible), singing those classic songs... Just so nice💛

This place was recommended to us by a cab driver. The service was on point, we had table service and managed to get in and out within 40 minutes (ordering lunch and a round of drinks) with no bother. The burgers were okay. Very generous serving sizes, could have used a bit more salad on the burger. The fries were tasty. The venue size is huge and the staff did a great job to look after so many people.

The oldest oldest pub in Dublin. Good food - better ghost stories :) Est 1198, the manager and most workers seem to be convinced ghosts live here. They reported feeling a presence and a physical touch while in the empty room. But the spirits aren't dangerous, the manager told me. It's the living you gotta look out for. Truer words.

Love this oldest pub in the city. Steeped in history and the walls covered with mementos from guests past. Friendly staff and a nice selection of whiskies, wines and beers. A lot of Americans seem to frequent this place. Just had a drink so can't say anything about the food. Well worth the visit.

The history behind this pub is worth the visit. Being able to walk around and take a look at the history is great if it’s not too busy. The Irish beef stew and fish and chips are good. Definitely a tourist location and the staff knows it, but buy a pint and enjoy the atmosphere.

Wow! What an experience! We started with a couple of beers outside before working out way inside for food and later enjoyed the band. We drank, we ate and we danced and the whole experience was spectacular. I will definitely come back next time I am in the area.

A really nice pub, away from the center of Dublin but not that far. We stopped in there to take some drinks after a bicycle trip. In the middle of the afternoon the pub was really crowded but we managed to find a table. No table service in there, you have to order at the bar. It's kinda difficult to be noticed since a lot of people are seated at the bar but I managed to order somehow. We took a Pepsi Max and two beers, a Smithwicks and an Irish stout. Both were great, kinda light and not too bitter. We didn't order food but it looked good and generous. The pub was really nice, well decorated. On the afternoon you can listen to good music live in one of the bar. We were outside so we missed most of it but it was very nice. It's impressive to be in a place that was open since 1198. We really had the feeling that we were living an authentic Irish experience.

Don't know if I can say enough good things about this place. We had a hard time finding someplace not too loud on a Friday night for a traditional Irish dinner and a few pints. After walking all over the touristy Temple Bar area, we fortunately crossed paths with the oldest pub around. We had the Bacon and Cabbage, and the Guinness and Beef Stew with several pints to wash it down. Both dishes have been some of the best traditional fare we've had in Ireland and one of the friendliest bartenders as well. Highly recommend!

Touts as oldest pub in Ireland. Liked the outside bar area that is well covered in the rain. The decor creates ambience and a good atmosphere. Various sitting areas. Our sandwiches were decent with table service. Good selection of beers. Good pint of Guinness. Plenty of tourists and locals. Well worth the visit.

The best burger of our lives was found here today. It tasted like a Salisbury steak and it was huge. Between Malt vinegar on a salad the creamiest coleslaw to crunchy salty chips, fizzy Cider that was almost like drinking a sparkling apple juice. I found some deep love for this cute old Pub. To the chef Steve, you deserve all the praise in the world for your amazing cooking skills. If I could rate this pub a hundred I would. 💚🍀 Our waiter was also the kindest waiter we ever had. The man who poured our beer and cider, you are a true Saint for telling us about how Steve doesn't get the praise he deserves. I so recommend this place above any restaurant in Dublin.

The ambience was really nice. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t make a reservation but the staff let us dine at the 1st floor with amazing environment. The food was great. I had the Irish stew and it tasted great. Would definitely recommend this place.

No reservations needed and no reservations that I’ll return on my next trip. A great place to meet up with friends. We literally were seated, totally coincidentally, to a person we knew from back home in the USA. A one in a million chance. Service and food were excellent. I little challenge figuring out where to as for a seat, you have to go inside the building or just ask an employee. Only drinks outdoors. Staff was excellent. A must do in Dublin.

Had the Chorizo & Cauliflower soup (special of the day) and the Honey Mustard Glazed Bacon & Cabbage. The food was 5 fantastic. The service wasn't that great. Our waitress was overworked so after being seated it took forever to see her again for ordering food or getting refills. While it is said to be the oldest pub, the building at the front is actually about 150-250 years old (the original pub founded there was supposedly the oldest). Still has a great pub atmosphere.

Food: 5/5 pretty good for “bar food”. The banger were delicious along side the seafood chowder. The batter on the fish and chips were good along with the chips being nice and crunchy. The only non-alcoholic drink they had was Heineken. They had a few other standard Irish beers on tap. Cost: 4/5 a little pricier for the food, but to be expected from a tourist spot. Environment: 3/5 nice location right by the river and cozy overall, but it seemed very hectic. It was a seat yourself style, but there were people literally sitting at a table before they previous party finished paying. Called the place before and there’s no option to reserve a table. If there was a lead host/hostess for indoor dining it would be much nicer. Outside though is great for just chilling and drinking.

This place was a lot of fun. The sign says it’s the first oldest pub in Ireland. Wikipedia disagrees so you can do your own research on that. With that said it’s a very busy location. I went on a weeknight during off-season and barley found a table. The service was quick and friendly. I have the Guinness beef stew and very much enjoyed it. What I really loved were the steamed muscles. They were definitely the star of my meal. If your in the area you should definitely plan to have a meal here. Or at least stop in for a drink. Tons of fun stuff to look at and very good energy

Seemingly popular with tourists and locals, this historic pub offered a warm welcome and efficient service. Food was of a good quality with a range of decent beers, all reasonably priced. A busy pub, but there's plenty of space and some external seating.

We had wings as appetizer, excellent orange spicy wing sauce!! Main: fried chicken burger , mussels and Irish beef stew. First two dish were good. Mussels is served without bread or fries. Stew disappointed. Overall expensive but I'd recommend for one of those been there ✔️. Overall 4.5 stars. Atmosphere: 5. Food: 4.0 Service: 4.5

Stumbled upon this during our walk and dang am I happy we did. Staff was all super friendly and the Guiness was great after the long walk and the Irish stew was the best I ever had. My wife got the fish and chips and was almost too crispy. Only downside is there was still bones in the fish but still tasted amazing.

It is a really cosy old pub. Great service, the veggie version of a sheppard's pie was quiet nice, so were the chips. If you don't like your burger meat cooked to death you better tell them when you order.

It was our first time trying Irish food, so going with The Brazen Head seemed like an obvious choice. A well-established spot with amazing food and a very relaxing atmosphere. The Guiness beef stew was to die for. The staff was welcoming and made us feel like we were old friends. The only unfortunate thing was that I couldn't see the pigeon which had flown in and made everyone cheer once it found its way out.

  • 5/5 Rich V. 2 years ago on Google
This place lived up to the expectations. The reviews are true. Was well worth the visit. We got their best selling Guiness stew and it was mind blowing. Would recommend. Bookings are also recommended. Closest bus stop is merchants quay. Few minutes walk from there.

Loved this pub! The food, service and music were all phenomenal. Got the corned beef meal, the beet and goat cheese salad, chicken wings and brownie a la mode. Washed it down with Irish coffee. An A+ experience!

The Brazen Head, located in the heart of the city of Dublin, Ireland. This restaurant is a true gem in this beautiful city, with food that will leave you speechless. I ordered the famous fish and chips and it was delicious! The interior is so unique and quaint, nothing like I’ve ever seen before. The dining area that we were in was small, but it was cozy, which made it very comfortable. I visited here in April, 2022 and it was an amazing experience. Being able to eat at the Brazen Head was the cherry on top of my trip. This is a MUST see when you visit the Emerald Isle! 🇮🇪

The been head is known for being the oldest pub in Ireland and for having the best Irish coffee. Being as it was my first ever Irish coffee I have nothing to compare it to but can easily say myself and my girlfriend both enjoyed them. The food was also delicious! My girlfriend went with the beef stew which had a strong meaty flavour that went great with the Irish coffee and I went with the bacon and cabbage as I wanted an Irish food experience and I wasn't disappointed. It tasted exceptional. It's a short walk from the Guinness Storehouse so fits in perfectly for a meal before or after your visit.

Magic happens at The Brazen Head! I had my first three Guinness in Ireland here! They were the Best! The atmosphere is superb. It was packed inside, but I still found a spot at the bar. Traditional Irish food and drink and music and craic. Of course, many tourists enter here for the sake of it being Dublin's "oldest" pub, but it is worth it all the same. I had an excellent Bangers & Mash here. I met some random fellow tourists who I ended up going to the Temple Bar district with. It is lively here and a fine place to enjoy whilst in Dublin. Do check it out! *****

The oldest pub in Dublin. We happened to visit on an unusually warm day in June, as it was about 27 C (80 F). The only place we could find a seat was in a small room that turned out to feel like a sauna. I did not take points off for this, as I believe it is rare for the temperature to get that high. The service was good and the food was very good. The bacon and cabbage meal was delicious and plentiful, as was the smoked fish.

(Translated by Google) Founded in 1198, this is Ireland's oldest pub, and you can receive Guinness in a large glass (cash payment is about 350 yen) and you can drink freely at the counter seats and table seats. There were live performances depending on the day, and we went for 3 nights to enjoy delicious Guinness. I like the loose atmosphere and I miss it. The other day, at NHK's "Earth Taxi", a female driver said, "When my husband works in a pub~, many people find their partner in the pub." If I was born in Ireland, I think this happened. Also great accessories, i.e. lighting and flowers (and someone has a hand with them because they are captivating). So if it's that great on the outside, the inside should be better, much better.
