My first time to stay in this hotel. It is a modern hotel in a very convenient part of Dublin. Central enough to be within 20 minutes walk of Trinity College and O'Connell st, yet distant enough not to be deafened by passing traffic. As the name implies the hotel is located beside the Grand Canal and is in the up market Dublin 4 area. The Aviva stadium is a short 10 minute walk from here. Spacious well appointed rooms with level access shower, so safe for anyone with mobility issues. The showers (2) both had strong water pressure, which is important in my book. Good sized restaurant with decent choice of menu. Food was good too. Buffet breakfast with good choices. I would be happy to visit again. One of our group became unwell during our stay, and the hotel staff were excellent in assisting in any way they could. All ended well thank God.

This is a really great hotel to stay at in Dublin. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly, polite, and always ready to help you with anything. The breakfast selection is great. It is maybe a bit far from the center, but you can easily reach it with a 25 minutes walk, or by bus. Would absolutely recommend or stay here again.

Grand Canal Hotel is a wonderful hotel and wonderful value in Dublin. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and pillows. Note: the hotel does not have A/C in the rooms (that I could find), but temperatures in Dublin do not get that high either. The Service is much better than many hotels I've stayed in. First, check-in was rapid with a couple folks working the desk so their was a limited wait. More importantly a few hours after check-in (approximately 9pm) we learned our shower on-off knob was not working. I called the front desk and within moments the person I spoke to came upstairs to take a quick look at knob. Seeing that she couldn't do anything she told me she was going downstairs to get us a new room, cut us new room keys and get someone to help with luggage. She called at most 10 mins later to tell me she was on her way up and handed us the new keys and walked us to our room. Obviously, things will fair at times but the way the hotel responded to our problem was exceptional customer service. Thank you for a great stay!! (note: the bathroom photos were from the first room that we got which was built for handicap individuals)

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was sick during my stay so had to spend a lot of time in my room. The staff provided excellent service in that they made sure to check up on me when I requested a Doctor and there was room service provided for my room. There was also a well organised system for holding on to my bags when I didn't have a room but wanted to venture out of the hotel. The price of the room was great considering that it was a very well kept room, a quiet night sleep with easy access to public transport. A bonus was that there was a Spar and the Print museum nearby including some lovely cafes by the shore. If I was to visit Dublin again I would definitely stay at this hotel.

Enjoyed the location and the coffee barista was extremely friendly every morning. I’m not sure if this only applies to US travelers, but after booking on their website (and providing a credit card) I was asked to pay in full at check in. Happy to do that but From then on, they asked for a credit card at each sales occurrence, causing me to return to my room once and even sending a charge point for room service. It seemed excessive when I provided a card at multiple points. I was here on business and would recommend booking a more updated hotel. I was also assigned a room with quite an odd wet room style bathroom with no counter space.

Loved this hotel! Rooms were a great size for 2 adults with beautiful Rituals bath/shower products. Breakfast was a wonderful buffet with plenty of choice. The bar was open late and when it closed we were able to move into the reception lounge area. There's also a secure car park which is a big bonus. Location wise it's hard to tell as my party drove everywhere. Would happily return if I was looking for somewhere to stay in Dublin again :)

Free parking if you book directly. Spotless hotel, very comfy bed, nice bathroom and shower. Nice smelling toiletries provided. Easy to use safe in room. Fitness room in basement, old machines but suffice with a radio cassette for music! Very friendly staff, a warm welcome on reception, in Spanish from an Argentinian girl. Would highly recommend this hotel. Taxis at the door to get into town, 10 minutes away, 10-12 euros. A nice walk along the canal right outside the door. Great location. 5 minutes walk to a Spar supermarket.

(Revised review 08/09/2023) Excellent hotel! We truly enjoyed the convenient 15-20 minute walk to the city center, which spared us from the noise of touristy areas. The hotel is nestled in a fantastic neighborhood, close to the beach and parks, and there are handy amenities nearby such as supermarkets, delis, and pubs, offering great convenience. The rooms are impressively spacious, well-appointed, and the furniture appears new and meticulously maintained. The bathroom boasts a stylish design, complete with a fantastic cabin shower. Temperature control functions flawlessly, and the Rituals' amenities are a delightful touch. Even though we usually steer clear of carpeted hotels, it's worth mentioning that this one appears exceptionally clean. We have a soft spot for the Lavazza coffee monodosi, which was replenished daily, and the availability of Irish tea in the kettle was a nice touch. The bed is reasonably comfortable, although the pillows are a bit on the softer side. While the room's sound insulation is average (7/10), the area remains wonderfully quiet at night. During the scorching summer months, the air conditioning operated flawlessly. Additionally, you can open the window in the morning for a breath of fresh air. It's worth noting that the curtains have an effective rail system for blocking out light. We were in town for tourism, and I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. We did encounter a minor issue with our room service, but the hotel's responsive team promptly resolved it.

The hotel met my expectations as per information available in the web, photos and reviews. Staff was extremely nice and professional. Room was good size, quiet and courtains provided proper blackout for a good sleep. Mattress was comfortable and bathroom was clean and had everything, a bit dated but ample. Great water pressure and temperature for a pleassure shower. Breakfast offered ample variety of continental options on top english and irish breakfast, with additional offering on demand (but included in price). I will defintively return in my next trip.

We used the hotel for a business meeting and it was fantastic. Centrally located and accessible. A car park is available for 3€ per hour or there is nearby street parking. Water, refreshments were provided and we were well looked after. Would recommend for meetings. Had lunch in the restaurant and that too was good. The staff were professional and attentive.

A really nice hotel with great spacious rooms and very friendly service. There's not much to see around the hotel, but it's about a 20 minute walk to the city centre where there are plenty of sights to enjoy. It's a bit of a drive from the airport and Dublin traffic can be crazy, so it's good to factor that in to and from the airport. It took us nearly an hour to get to the airport from the hotel during rush hour.

This is the only place I will stay at, when visiting Dublin. The rooms are so comfy, the breakfast is good, the hotel itself is in a quiet area of Dublin and the staff are so friendly. Plus for the services you get it's ridiculously affordable. Will always return!

We stayed at the Grand Canal for our wedding and it was absolutely perfect. The rooms may be a little outdated, but are very clean and the bathrooms were/are recently being remodeled. The rooms are also well equipped and decently sized. The location of the hotel is right around a DART station and is overall very quiet. The service we received was very good. Staff was friendly, helpful and very observant. We had an issue with electricity in our room which was immediately addressed. The hotel "bar" is actually a very nice classic pub with a great pint and food. Definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic stay in Dublin.

Party at the Gasworks, food was beyond expectations for a party buffet. The ribs have to have been the best I've had in a long long time. Great staff who couldn't do enough for you. Will be back real soon.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this place. Lovely rooms, good service and delightful breakfast. And we appreciated the possibility to go to the gasworks bar who is located directly near the hotel. Good food and excellent beer.

Everything is good from the staff, location 20min from center, spotless, comfortable food etc.. but only one thing that make me and my partner not so happy is when we call the reception at night for some ice and they told us yes but we didn’t get anything no one call us again or say anything about the ice or maybe the can tell us there is ice machine so we can get some for ourselves and we were so tired and hungry trying to enjoy our dinner with cold drinks but they makes us wait and we lost our joyful time and we felt ignored I hope they well take this note into consideration because these small things makes big difference with the customers for a such nice hotel.

Nice place to watch the final Lions test. Very quick and efficient table service. Guiness was great and food was delicious and reasonably priced. Only down side was it was a bit cold because of air con but that was probably to promote better ventilation because of covid.

Stayed here room only so didn't try the food. The room was a really great size, with a large double bed and dogs area. The room has everything I could need. Coffee machine with pods, kettle with a good selection of biscuits, tea, coffee and bottled water supplied. Iron and ironing board were available. The room had a safe. Toiletries were pump dispensed in the bathroom. The bathroom was a good size with a large walk in shower. Each floor had snack dispensers with snacks and drinks.

We stayed here while in Dublin for a show at the Bord Gais theatre and it was so convenient. It was a lovely walk to and from the theatre. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were great. Especially in the Gasworks bar...so friendly and helpful. My grandson wasn't feeling good and the young lad behind the bar offered to get some hot water and honey to see if it would help. Even my 10 yr old grandson commented on how nice he was. I also must say the food in the bar and at breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

On arrival we went straight into the car park. The street level was full apart from one bay that was very tight, so we went to the lower level where we found a spot. There are some spots that are marked as private/ reserved so I didn’t park in them but apparently they are only reserved spaces Mon-Fri. The doors from the car park to the hotel were manual. There is a lift from the basement that opens out to the reception. The man on reception was polite, helpful, friendly and smartly dressed. He explained to us that as we booked our room directly with the hotel the parking is complimentary and they will validate our ticket as we leave, he also explained how to use the lift, you have to insert your room card into a reader in the lift and then press the floor. The room was very nice. A nice double bed which was very comfortable. There was a safe, enough plug sockets and at least half a dozen USB ports but they were not suitable for micro USB. The usual complimentary stuff, tea/ coffee/ water and little bottles of wash stuff in the really nice en suite with a really big shower. A nice touch in the bathrooms is a small magnified mirror with two light modes. There was also a vending and ice machine on our floor. We decided to eat in at The Gasworks, big bar with a couple of big screens showing sport, usual selection of food your find in a bar. We both went for the Buffalo Chicken burger, a big piece of chicken in a southern fried coating and a small bowl of chips/ fries. I don’t know if they normally serve the accompanying mayo and sauce separately but we requested it to be and they obliged. It was tasty, hot and it filled a hole. I don’t think it was worth €19.25 each. We went to a night club and I booked a cab via Bolt but outside the hotel there was at least 8 taxis. I had a great nights sleep as the bed was really comfortable. Our breakfast was included in our package. Breakfast is served in the Epic restaurant. We were greeted by a pleasant lady and after confirming our room and name we were shown to a table, I didn’t want to sit where we were shown so we were shown to another table, which was not a problem for the last, no fuss involved. There was a cold selection, yoghurts/ cereals and a hot buffet which I prefer. By the time we came back to the table our tea/ coffee and toast were already there. The team in the restaurant were smartly dressed, polite and very efficient. As guest left the staff cleared, cleaned and reset the table straight away. It was nice be able to sit and eat our breakfast in a clean area, no dirty plates littering other tables. Overall a very pleasant breakfast experience and a filling breakfast. Overall a nice stay and I would stay here again.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for four nights. It’s a beautifully decorated and comfortable hotel not to far from the city centre. There is a good choice of bars and restaurants in the locality. I would have no problem in recommending The Grand Canal Hotel to others. We would definitely stay here again in the future . All the staff are so pleasant and helpful and are a credit to themselves . A big shoutout to Rachel in the adjoining Gasworks Bar who was so friendly and looked after us anytime we dropped in for a drink / bite to eat and Tom the duty manager who was also very helpful during our stay!

Nice hotel with comfortable decent sized rooms. Our room was over the entrance, the window set up was poor. A set of internal and external windows restricted airflow into the room. During a very warm night, the room became quite warm and stuffy.

Central hotel within walking distance to most multinational offices, but on a very noisy street. Book a room at the back. I’ve stayed here 4 times now to proximity to the office. Rooms are large including bathroom. Most rooms are renovated now. See photo. No air conditioning so these rooms can get hot in summer. Difficult to open the windows to let air in. Front reception super helpful. WiFi works! Hotel restaurant was closed for renovation this time but breakfast is generous and variety is great. Pub attached next door is great for a bite to eat or a pint - good if you’re arriving late.

We've stayed here a few times now & honestly this hotel just keeps getting better. The suite we had was wonderful, and every single member of staff that we met couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We were absolutely stuffed after the 3 course dinner on night one, so much so that we could only manage two courses the second night! Love this place, can't wait to go back.

This is an exceptional hotel. Greeted at the start by a very friendly helpful receptionist. The room was exceptionally clean, everything you could need was available in the room, iron,, coffee machine, hair dryer, water, toiletries in bathroom were lovely. The breakfast was well presented and all fresh. This is well worth a stay and we will be here again.

Rooms are good. Checking in experience was good. Bar was very close to the check in desk and was very noisy ( big match on the TV) Parking is available and there were a few spaces but they were tight. More suitable to a small commuter car than an SUV. Fire alarm went off at 07.45 because another guest set it off. Nothing to do with the hotel and I would go back no issues thankyou!!

Lovely quite, clean and safe place to stay the night... easy to get taxis to and from... fabulous coffee bar in lobby even does oat milk... Nice food. Free secure parking easy access from carpark.... friendly staff...what more can I say... Will definitely stay again... only giving 4 stars max because we'll does the perfect hotel actually exist 🤣 oh plus I liked you have to use your room card to get the lift up to your floors so less people floating about the floors they have no reason to be on.... every hotel should be set up that way.... also the loos where spotless says alot. 👍👍👍

Night staff (manager?) was absolutely rude with us. We arrived quite late at night to ask for a room (we were obviously tired and back from traveling, we were presentable, but we had bags with us). The receptionist (tall guy with light coloured eyes, in his mid 40's), without even greeting us properly and without having any look to his computer, proceeded to shake his head telling us that there was no availabilities. It clearly felt like he judged us by our appearances (not classy enough for his standards) and/or that he couldn't be bothered to do his work. Both being equally unacceptable for a 4* hotel. We stepped out and decided to check their website because we remembered having seen availabilities online. We proceeded to book a room online without any issue whatsoever (hotel still had availabilities after our booking), and went back in. The same man looked at us, obviously annoyed and when we told him that we had booked a room online he faked not believing us, then he proceeded to type and check his computer for a whole 10min, shaking his head. He told us that he couldn't find the booking, and asked where we made the booking from. We told him we booked from the hotel website, he again fakely appeared surprised and searched for another 5min. It's only when we offered to give the booking number to help him out that he miraculously found the booking. There was no empathy, no apologies, no nothing. He just looked completely annoyed handing the keys over to us. This was one of the most shameful experience of my life, will never set foot there again. I hope the owner will reconsider his choice of night staff/manager, the little lady in the morning was the complete opposite, she was an absolute sunshine, very professional and welcoming. Last point: Glasses and cups were dirty, bed linen were stained and the walls were so thin we could hear everything that was happening in the other rooms.

Nice spot to relax , city centre based location for easy access to tourist. It is a place to be with unique combination of both locals and foreigners coming together ,of which is a bit rare . This bring to life an experience of real atmosphere of the Dubs..

Half-day meetings in a well ventilated, spacious conference room, with plenty of natural light. Good service offering plenty of tea, coffee, fruit, pastries during the meeting. Loved the vegetarian soup served at the restaurant 😋 High levels of cleanliness. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent location.

Showed up a day early and they were able to not only get us in, but keep us in the same room for the whole of our stay. Downstairs restaurant is tasty and the bar staff were great, even had a fan waiting for us in our room during the July'22 heatwave! Nice to be in a quiet area and the nearby DublinBikes were easy to get to anything we needed to see.

Nice hotel. Clean comfortable rooms, not very spacious but standard enough. Friendly staff and quick service at front desk, in dining room and cleaning rooms. Breakfast was good, plenty of options. Only dropping a star as I think price was high for a hotel of this type.

Great hotel at a reasonable "for Dublin" price. Rooms are a good size and clean. Decor is up to date. Heating was controllable by me and worked immediately. Close to city centre. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was good but not great for me. I like the fried breakfast options and it just wasn't that tasty. There was nothing wrong with it, just plain. A slightly better quality meat product could be used. However, the pancake making machine did somewhat go towards making up for this!

We stopped off here today on our way home from an utter disaster of a stay in another hotel near by. We were tired, drained and hungry as we didn't even stay for meals paid for at the last hotel. Upon arrival we were met with the most upbeat, friendly and welcoming staff. Already we felt a wave of better energy just from walking in the door. We were sat and given menu's. The place looked beautiful, it was clean, cosy, warm and peaceful. The menu for lunch had so many options, really well explained and very reasonably priced. We were brought our drinks after ordering and did not have to wait long for our food to arrive. They looked amazing once delivered to the table by more friendly staff that were so accommodating. They couldn't have done enough for us. The food tasted amazing. Couldn't fault anything. And this was only a drop in for lunch. Afterwards I couldn't wait to check out the website for room information etc. We are already looking to plan a trip to include a night at this hotel, I'm sure we will be more than satisfied with a stay here after leaving refreshed and fulfilled by just a lunch here today.

Cannot knock the hotel at all. Stayed for 2 nights for business. Lovely staff, room was absolutely fine and great for the price. Bed very comfy, good pillows and the linen was very fresh and had a great smell. Honestly, for around 100 Euros you cannot fault this hotel at all! Thanks.

Stayed here for two nights whilst at the Whitesnake and Foreigner concert. First time staying at this hotel and very very impressed. The hotel is absolutely spotless, rooms are a great size and good amenities in the room for guests to use. Staff upon check in, throughout the stay and check out were lovely and friendly. They simply couldn't do enough for you and nothing was too much hassle. Having availed of room service after the concert, again staff were fabulous. We dined in the restaurant on both mornings for breakfast - great selection of hot and cold foods, lovely, quiet and tranquil atmosphere also. Dined in the gasworks for dinner on one of the nights, menu is a little limited but nonetheless the chicken burger was yummy! Cocktails are also rather nice...maybe too nice! All in all, great hotel, brilliant location for 3 arena and shopping and decent value for money. Will be back

Friendly staff, nice hotel, great breakfast buffet. About 10Euro taxi into Dublin centre. A little bit of road noise for rooms at the front. Underground parking which is very handy indeed (roughly 10Euro per day) Rooms ok but beds rock hard (we had to ask for toppers to soften them up!). Great shower, but otherwise the bathroom needs a bit of a rethink as it is almost impossible to wash in the sink due to the design & nowhere to put the soap, so it makes a mess everywhere (just saying)

During the month of August, 2022, we were on three separate tours and our base was the Grand Canal Hotel. All personnel were great, but we need to give a shout out to one of your front desk staff. Her name is Ismini and she was the one who checked us in each time. She was always smiling, cheerful and very helpful. The hotel was modern and the rooms were big. It's nice that the hotel allowed us to store our extra luggage whenever we were away on our trips. It was also nice to have a little coffee shop and a pub on the premise.
