Fabulous! Best seafood pasta (spaghetti allo scoglio) in Dublin. Legit Italian style and full of fresh seafood flavours. And I lived in this city for eight years - I’ve tried most places. This one’s the best. Great service too. Looking forward to trying the other seafood dishes and pizzas. Thanks!

I'm a regular customer at this restaurant as myself and husband love the mussels here. Compliments to the chef! However, we went tonight and the mussels weren't right they had nothing inside mostly shells, so we explained to the owner and he agreed, this was a fault of the supplier. He took the mussels and made us more but they were the same. He then suggested us to try something else after this I was extremely tired and hungry. So we ordered something else to share. I was shocked when we got the bill and they asked us to pay for everything from the water ( that I didn't drink because it had huge floating things in it) and even the garlic bread, which he took from me when he took back the bad mussels and never replaced, so i literally paid for stuff i didn't even have, after all of this disaster which wasn't my fault. I completely understood the situation wasn't their fault but it was a huge time waste and it wasn't handled very well. Usually the owner would at least offer you a drink at the end for free. As a regular customer I'm so disappointed I didn't expect this. I will definitely have to find a new local. Also the waiter is extremely rude, and I see from the reviews im not the only one to spot this. So clearly they don't care. Fortunately the other waiters are so friendly and polite and the chef. They are the ones who keep the people returning.

The pizzas were delicious! One of the best I had in Dublin. The service asks too often if everything is ok and the music does not suit the setting. Overall a nice restaurant.

Delicious, authentic Italian food in an 18th-century brick and stone wine cellar. The grilled salmon was the best I had in Ireland and the mixed veggies that accompanied it were garden fresh! My partner had pizza (which I tasted) and it was yummy. They make fresh dough daily, then cold-ferment it for 3 days before making pizza. The manager and waitstaff were very friendly and encouraged us to take our time, savor our food, and enjoy our visit.

Al Vesuvio is the best Italian food we have ever eaten! You can really tell that by using great quality ingredients and authentic cooking techniques the chef doesn’t need to overcompensate with any additional flavours. The food was decadent, fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. It was a little tricky to book this restaurant and the phone number does not work, however I feel that adds to it’s exclusivity. We had to pop in a few hours before to check our booking had been accepted. Don’t let this put you off, you should definitely check out this Italian restaurant while in Dublin!

We went here a couple of days ago, I had made a reservation 4 hours beforehand for 6 people. However, the owner told me we needed a reservation confirmation. This was the only negative aspect of the place. The time I made the reservation was available on their website. Nevertheless, we could still eat at this restaurant sitting separately. The food and service was extremely good, all waiters spoke Italian, and the food really reminded me of my trip to Rome. The housewine was also really nice. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem in Dublin!

Left one star only because I had to. Was there about an hour had Drinks and appetizers seemed good at the start. In the court yard where we sat there were Teenagers hanging out Loud & out of control. At one point one young man exposed himself and peed. Manger did absolutely nothing. This continued until we left. Cops would come - kids would leave only to come back again and again louder & louder. At this point we had spent $129. 5 out of 7 people in our group went on to order dinner we were told everyone had to order a dinner or we had to leave. Crazy considering what we already ordered and spent in drinks & appetizers… So we paid our bill & left. Absolutely crazy night. No customer service. Over an hour wait to order dinner only to be told we couldn’t. Would not recommend if your looking for good food - quality friendly service or a nice atmosphere. Definitely not… The only place we had a bad experience at all week in Dublin …

Lovely Italian restaurant in the heart of Dublin City Center. The gnocchi was amazing and so was the pizza. The staff will help you choose wine with your order as well. What a great find :) must try.

“Best Italian in town.” I have heard about this place from a couple of Italian friends and even from friends’ friends. So I went there for my birthday dinner and it was just amazing! The food tastes so good the portions are biiig! And the staff were terrific! I can't wait to be back

The food was good. Pasta, Pizza were full of flavour and good portions. I ordered another dish, that was good but felt the meat was a bit on the tougher side. But still good and the value is good too. Everyone who drank the house red really enjoyed it too. The lady who was serving was impatient at times a bit abrupt. The other person on duty was very friendly and made the evening a bit more delightful.

Good restaurant, quite average I would say. I have some reservations about the authenticity of the food. I found some questionable choices on the menu, as an Italian, such as the Capricciosa pizza with an egg, for example. Anyway, I was here with my partner. While he ordered meat, I ordered a white Quattro formaggi pizza, but out of the four cheeses that were supposed to be on top, I could only taste mozzarella. The gorgonzola, which should be the distinctive feature of this pizza, was practically nonexistent. His dish was quite good, very unique, but unfortunately, it arrived long before my pizza, so we ended up eating at different times. Moreover, his dish was accompanied by French fries, which were served without any sauce. We asked for it (they hadn't any, except for garlic mayo), and it turned out to be an extra charge on the bill. The pizza dough was not bad, perhaps not the best in Dublin, but good. However, the toppings left much to be desired. As you can see in the photos I attached, there was very little topping. It didn't even cover the entire pizza. As for the appetizers, the carpaccio was very tasty, but the bruschetta was less so, and the bread was soggy. I think a negative point was being served by three different waiters. Obviously, they didn't communicate with each other because as soon as they seated us and brought the menu, another waiter instantly came to take our order. Of course, we had to ask him to come back later. And he never returned. We had to call someone ourselves when we were ready. What surprised me the most was the final bill, which was quite high. A €17 pizza should be really good, but it wasn't. I can't argue with the price of the rest because a meat dish cooked in a more special way could be worth around €18. But what's the point of serving the dish with potatoes as a side if the potatoes have to be paid for separately? The menu stated that the potatoes were an accompaniment, but in reality, we had to pay for them. We spent €80 for the two of us, which, in my opinion, is excessive for what we ate. I would prefer to give it 3 stars, not less, because the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't exceptionally excellent either.

The place is very well structured and done, staff is friendly and the menù is rich. I can't say it embodies the Italian cousine completely since pasta is a bit overcooked and less tasty than the authentic one but it's ok. Ingredients are good, just the way it's cooked is not ideal. I would come back for some pizza next time :)

It was disappointing that we were told we had to leave the restaurant .... To start, we came to the restaurant with a party of 7. We ordered 1 bottle of wine, 4 glasses of wine, 3 beers, sodas and 2 appetizers which were all delicious. When it came time to order entrées, we ordered 5 entrées to share (because by this time we were somewhat full from the appetizers, and we also had a flight the next morning so we could not take any leftovers home) The waiter seemed annoyed and told us that this was against the restaurant policy, each one of us had to order a meal. I explained we were leaving the next day and that we were more than happy to pay a sharing charge. He told us that other people were waiting to eat so we would have to leave. Our orders were never put in so we paid for what we did eat and drink and left as we were told. We had to look for another restaurant to eat at. ... All in all. The food that we did have was very good. But the service was surprisingly unprofessional . I would have been more than happy to pay a sharing charge than to waste food

If I could give 0 stars, I would!! Bad tasteless food and even worst service from the staff! I visited a couple of weeks back with my friends after more than 1 year without seeing them for a much waited get together just to be disappointed with the food and above all with the rude treatment we've got. We knew we had a slot of time to stay at the table and after our order took ages to arrive and it was wrong, we were asked if we wanted dessert, which we agreed on. All of a sudden, a second waiter came rushing back to us, threw the bill at the table lashing out loud that we had to leave as out time was up. We tried to explain that our order was delayed not by us and that we had just been offered dessert but he kept screaming at us saying we had to leave cause we were keeping the table after our time. It was an unnecessary embarrassing scene, totally uncalled for and absolutely unacceptable. I had never been so mistreated in a restaurant in my entire life! Shameful and distasteful service! I am Italian and this place it's the typical trap for tourists with pre-made and frozen food and commercial pre-packed desserts. The food had no taste whatsoever and even for the salt you have to beg them to bring it to you, not even letting it at the table. Stay away from this place and grab food somewhere else!!

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We had a group of 12 for a baby shower last night and were so well looked after. Despite a busy restaurant we were given our table for 4 hours, the food was absolutely delicious, the wine was flowing and lovely. We had a great night, and from booking to the night itself the staff were excellent and the service was brilliant. They even asked us if we wanted to slow our service down to facilitate a game we were playing. Thank you Gerardo and all your team for making a very memorable night for us!

Would give 2.5 stars if possible. Food was average, wine was okay, it was roasting hot in the restaurant, and it's October so not exactly hot outside. Waiter were nice, but food was below what we expected.

Very cuteee Italian inspired restaurant! The staff are so cute and helpful! I wish I could remember the waiters name! He was so patient and helpful when suggesting wines and dishes! I was there for my birthday dinner and they were so accommodating with my cake and provided candles and a birthday song. Oh yes; they accommodated my very young niece(2m old) and nephew (2y/o) which I thought was so nice of them! You definitely felt you were in Italy! Loved it 🥰

The service was good but the pasta was too blend, no taste. I went 2 years ago to eat pizza and it was good, but this time I chose pasta (ravioli) and the meal was tasteless unfortunately, for me and for my friends. Just a pity.

This place is great value for Dublin City Centre. We had a lovely evening. The staff were great, the house wine was nice, and the food was lovely. Overall we all left after a lovely evening feeling we had found a little gem. Recommend a visit. €24.50 for 2 courses and a glass of wine on the pre theatre menu. You can’t go wrong. 4.5 stars.

It is near impossible to find a traditional cozy Italian in Dublin. Al Vesuvio is a gem of a find! Built into an 18th century vaulted wine cellar, exceptional food and wonderful service, perfect for romantic dinner out or small groups. Wonderful place.

  • 2/5 David B. 1 year ago on Google
Visited this recently with a group from work. The staff are amongst the worst I've come across in a long time. There was no bread bought out for the table, no check in, no follow up for drinks etc. Beyond the dishes being brought out we had to actively go looking for the staff. The food was OK at best. Not terrible but only OK. We asked for a wine recommendation and we got some muttering while pointing through most of the menu. None of the group were raving about their food but everyone mostly finished their dinners hence the 2 stars. While I don't tend to tell people to avoid a location I will let them know if I would return. I will most definitely not return to this location.

Everyone are super kind and welcoming. Food is always tasty and portions are generous. Love lemonchella that we got at the end of the meal! Toilet is clean but it could use some renovation.

Beautifull restaurant set in an old wine cellar ( I think) anyway cosy with wonderful ambiance but spacious seating arrangements so I felt safe. Friendly and attentive staff. Lovely food a nice variety of dishes to choose from a good wine menu also. Reasonably priced for a great night out

Amazing Italian restaurant. Staff are really friendly. I felt my pasta was a little too firm and they happily took it back cooked it a bit more. The Tiramisu is to die for! Will definitely be back.

What can I say? This restaurant is located in Temple bar so is easy to find. Lovely Italian restaurant with fantastic food. They have a pre- theatre menu for €24.95 which includes a glass of wine. It is very good value as this menu has a lovely choice of options. Not your standard 2 or 3 options. Service was exceptional & the staff were so friendly, it was like having a meal in a friend's house. Would definitely recommend it.

Nice little place. Decent outside sitting area that is in a quiet spot off the main streets. Food was superb - Sauce was great. Guinness was not that good. Wine was not cheap (same for most of this part of town). Overall, it was good.

Really nice spot, very cozy and great service. An authentic Italian experience, with concentration on quality not quantity, which is perfect for carb heavy food. Great selection of dishes (not just pasta or pizza) and wines. Good value also, with 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 3 glasses of wine and a tea coming to 80 euro.
