I don’t do these post often but here is one: DON’T GO TO SMYTH’S PUB in Ranelagh. I live in Ranelagh and have been to this pub occasionally but I had this incident this evening and I am very disappointed by the behaviour. I was there this evening waiting for my husband to come because I forgot my keys to enter home and it was very cold outside. I didn’t order any drinks but the pub was nearly empty and I waited beside the door for a few minutes before the manager (I’m not sure about his role, photo below) came and asked me to leave because I wasn’t a customer. He told me I had to leave asap and this was not a bus stop. I explained him I wasn’t waiting for the bus and he reiterated that the pub was only for customers and started questioning me. I told him I was their customer previously but I was just waiting there for a few minutes but he was extremely rude. When I told I wasn’t going to come to their pub again due to this behaviour, he told me he didn’t want customers like me. He kept ignoring me and making rude comments and how he did not care about customers. We argued for some more minutes and when I was leaving he shouted “be careful” behind my back in a threatening tone. ASIDE FROM ETHICS/BEING A NICE PERSON, THIS BEHAVIOUR IS UNACCEPTABLE IN OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD. I will definitely not be going back to SMYTH’S, I wanted make you all aware of this type of attitude as well.

Went there for a catch up. Really nice leather banquettes in the interior, well spaced out, easy chairs and a welcoming hot fire, just what you want in this weather. There’s extended terraces out the back for the smokers. I had a chicken curry with homemade naans and sweet chilli jam. T had a ham and cheese toastie with chips and salad. It was nice and fresh. Staff friendly and helpful. I’ve been back since 😀

Great atmosphere, huge and tasty fish and chips, I’d totally recommend. I loved that there were no mushy peas since I don’t like them. It’s also handy that they come in a carton box so you can easily take home any leftover chips (they’re great and crunchy when warmed up in the oven). Went back another day and got the burger, just as great. Their food is amazing. Bonus for allowing to swap chips for sweet potato fries.

The amazing Kieran looked after myself and 5 family members before a concert in the Aviva. He was so welcoming and accommodating to our party, a credit to the organisation, we'll definitely be back 😊

I'm changing my review from 5 stars to two. Previous time I was there despite it was very busy the staff was very helpful and attentive, however this last time was completely different and it wasn't even busy at all. My partner and I went for brunch, I order fish and a chips and he ordered tenders, I know the main thing would be the taste of the food (which it's good) more that anything but mine was served in a box and his in an actual plate, even though we were eating there not taking it away. I don't think the food you order should be an indication of where it should be served as much as if you are eating there or out. Also we were given the bill even before we have finished our food. So definitely not happy with the experience this time and maybe I will think twice to go back for brunch. It is a pity because I used to think it was a lovely place over all.

Classic Irish pub. Amazing bartender with that warm Irish hospitality, great stories, Irish humor, and friendly service. Perfect place for a Guinness!

If you like it jammed go after rugby in Lansdowne Road. If you prefer quiet try midweek afternoons.

Great Guinness on tap. Nicely heated outdoor space to enjoy a tipple or two. Indoor space littered with tables for sitting. Good place to go with groups of 4 to 6.

Lovely welcoming staff and excellent Guinness 0.0% on proper draught. Downed a few pints in comfort, and went out and jumped in the motor...what more could you ask for? 😉

Great pub. Very buzzy. Warm and comfortable atmosphere. Lots of cubby holes and spaces for couples or groups. There was live music on Sunday but it didn't take over the pub. Great selection of whiskeys and cocktails. Recommended.

This was my first local pub to visit after arriving in Dublin. The gent behind the bar walked out and made us feel very welcomed and warmly asked us to sit wherever we liked and showed us around the different areas just a bit. The decor and atmosphere was a really neat quaint pub feel. The bar selection and bar food selection were great as well. Soup was amazing as well as the salad. Service was laid back and very friendly. It did not take long being there to realize from the decor, drinks, food and service....DETAILS mattered! Great place!

👍👍 Fantastic indoor entertainment venue in Dublin that holds up to 13,000 people. It's really well marshalled and queueing is kept to a minimum for drinks, food, merchandise and toilets. If you find the ground floor queues start to grow, just go upstairs for smaller queues. There's great sound and visi...
