My room was next to the large deck overlooking the lake. I didn't spend much time in the room with the view that was availble on the deck. I think I was the only guest in the hotel at the time and the manager and I spent a lot of time talking (me practicing my Spanish). The restaurant next door was good, I also ate at the hotel downtown. If you have time visit the hot springs East of El Estor. If you don't have the time, make the time. One of the best experiences of my 69 years.

We are here the beginning of July. The weather is perfect, the pool temperature is perfect. The rooms have air conditioning! The shower has warm water and enough pressure. They provide towels and soap. The pillows are better than the last place we stayed. There is a huge deck area with beautiful wood tables and hammocks. Our whole family loves this place. Hi! We stayed here last night on very short notice. Arrived in the afternoon on a Sunday and the groundskeeper was incredibly professional. We're from the states but we've been in Central America +7 years and one of the things people complain a lot about is that customer service can be very poor - well, not the caretaker, Ceasar! He was such a professional and the place was absolutley spotless! We were very impressed with how accomidating and kind he was - he never once let me open the gate myseld - always insisted he open it for me - what a gentleman! We had stopped at a hotel up the street first - it looked nice and we wanted to book a room but there was no one at receoption and we asked another worker if we could check in and she said the repeciptionist would be back - well, we waited about 15 minutes, drank a soda...and then left. All the workers were just chatting and ignoring us as we stood there exhausted from the long motorcycle ride up. That's the type of service Central America is notorious for but The guy at Castillo - Ceasar - greeted us immediately and made us feel welcome right away. Such a relief to get out of our riding clothing and take showers and then Ceasar even recommended the restaurant across the street - which was excellent! I wish more restaurants and hotels had employees like Ceasar - he did a great job helping us check in and out and clearly works very hard keeping the grounds immaculate. Highly recommend! And if any other hotels in the area are looking for someone they can trust to run the grounds and take care of the hotel - I highly recommend this man!
