We chose the luxurious package and cost us 65 EUR. As getting the tickets, the staffs started to rush us up. As the services were completed, all the staffs requested a tip, even if they didn’t provide you any services. I was quite stressed since they stared at us and made a gesture to request a tip again and again.

Oh, if you like to be pampered like I do, here you come. A rather posh place. With all what needs to be included for having a nice time resting. Warm, cosy, clean, they provide water, nice shower facilities. I really enjoyed the massage and the actual hamam experience. It’s located in a hotel, easy to get to. They do prefer cash though.

One of the best treats in Istanbul, the Turkish Hamam! A combination of a sauna, body rub, foam bath and pealing scrub. And all of this in a building from 1584. An amazing experience almost like a journey back in time. Photos inside the Hamam are not allowed... The best things in life are to be experienced rather than to be looked at. Definitely give it a try if you ever visit

Update: ended up with scars and an aching back I visited the Hamam and the Barbershop in the same building. The hamam was very disappointing, but it was nice to see the building from inside. I got harassed to leave a tip (directly to the masseurs, not at the reception), even before the massage and scrub even started. In addition, my body is aching a lot after the treatment. They accidentally put facemask in my eye. No complementary drink at the end. Also, the bathroom was incredibly smelly, could not stand the smell of piss. Recommend you to try another one!

My experience was rather good but the price isn’t fair for what you get. They have exaggerated with the price, but I guess they do it all over Istanbul. Wherever you go they ask you for more and more haha so bear in mind to be careful with your money. They know how to get more from you. I paid 35$ on the website for a full traditional Turkish bath, but when I reached the place I have discovered that I have paid only for the entrance fee (so the description on their website wasn’t accurate). After, I had to pay another 35$ to get what I needed initially. It is a traditional Turkish bath where everything is done quickly and you’re moved on the next step. The scrubbing was quick and not properly done, massage was quite good but in a cold room right after you are coming from the Hammam. Which isn’t pleasant. Overall, I would come again but would not pay this price for such experience. The right price would be around 35$ for the whole Turkish bath experience. The Hammam itself isn’t in good condition, mold everywhere and a bad smell cause of mold. Looks old indeed(opened in 1584) Definitely worth a good renovation though.

The lady at reception was really rude. The presented price was 40€ each and then she charged us without saying anything, with 44€, just putting the price in Lira. MEN side: nobody seems to speak English. It’s not really clear what and when is going to happen. After the scrub and shower I was forced to leave the room, after only 30 minutes I was in. The massage is quite energetic and the following days I had back pain. WOMAN side: The woman doing scrubbing don't seem to really care. quick scrub and bath, less than 20 minutes. For about 10 minutes I couldn’t lay down on the marble, but I had to sit near the sink since they were cleaning all the bath. They used soap from the supermarket. The building itself is quite nice and clean. But for 40 Euros per person and service we got - NOT WORTH IT. Q

Experienced for a first time after 150 visits to Istanbul, and it was worth every penny that you will give.Laying on the warm rock, peeling, foam and massage, everything was pleasant, including the visit to the barber inside the Hamam

My visit to Cemberlitas Hamami in Turkey was marked by an authentic hamam experience that offered a glimpse into the country's bathing traditions. The architecture and atmosphere contributed to a relaxing time, although the reception staff's demeanor was a bit lacking in friendliness. Despite this, the hamam treatment itself was professionally conducted and provided a genuine taste of Turkish culture. Overall, it's a noteworthy spot for those seeking an authentic hamam experience, with the caveat of potentially encountering less-than-friendly staff at this place

This is the real deal and a true cultural experience… that being said treatment is a bit rough around the edges. Used the hamam for 400 TL The body scrub cost 255 TL was fine but a bit rushed. I ended up spending 41 euro. Given the massage reviews, I would not get something more expensive. Next time I’ll only use the Hamam no massage. That being said- I loved it and would come back anytime. It was extremely relaxing and a fun experience.

Very interesting experience. I bought the Hammam package that included the body scrub and oil massage, for around $65. First you are led to a small private changing room where you can leave your stuff and go to the hammam with a towel. You are then told to take a shower. After, you are led into the beautiful hammam room where you wait a few minutes (like a sauna). Then one of the attendants gives you the body scrub and foam bath, which feels a bit rushed. Once that’s done, you are led to another room for the oil massage. They also do it pretty quick but feels good. Finally you are told to take a shower, go back to your room, change and you’re done. Attendants will be persistent about tips, so be ready. Overall, it’s a good (first) experience for a Hammam, but if you can spend a little more money, find one that won’t be so rushed ( I say rushed, but maybe that’s how it is in their culture, so for some it will be ok)

I am very disappointed with this experience. I paid 70 euros and I had to have a hammam, relaxation massage and face mask. I entered the hammam, he washed me in 5 minutes and then took me to the relaxation massage. I stayed for 15 minutes and they finished the massage with the face mask. The experience lasted 20 minutes for 70 euros. Professionalism 0, fast, on the conveyor belt. Only the relaxation massage was supposed to be 30 minutes and it was 15 minutes including the face mask. I am also posting a picture with the prices. I do not recommend.

The price have been updated. Now it’s 450TL for Traditional style. I dot not recommend. Overall it only took them less than 40min for everything. The scrubbing took less than 5min. I didn’t even experience those bubbles bubbles that I’ve read online. I should have listened to the comments here that it is like a car wash experience - well indeed it is! Waste of money.

Hamman surely historical but expensive considering is dirty and not rennoved in nothing. I understand is historic but I suggest other hammans more clean. In the men part, you'll find old fat men of hamman, very rude and not gentle with customers. If you pay scrubs it will last only few minutes. The slippers are not sanitized.

The place charges 1450 for a basic bath and 2000 TL for a bath and oil massage jul 2023… For me it was like 5 to 10 mins of scrubbing and not so focused… it was an average experience… not too bad not awesome. But since it’s an ancient hamam so you can come here for checkbox… It would be nice to come here in winters with friends and spend more time in steam hall just to relax and chitchat There is a self bath option for 1000tl also… lol

Disappointing. I heard i could be treated as a car wash and I was. My son and I were done in only 70 minutes. Massage was decent, though I had much better ones around the world. Tipping moment was almost embarrassing. All staff came to try to get a bit of it. My wife and daughter had a bad experience on their side with a massage lady who was rude. Only good point is the hamam itself, historical place, pretty impressive. Enjoy it as much as you can and be the one managing your time.

Place was impressive but too pricey for what you get. I went on Sunday and it was very crowded. Not relaxing when someone is being scrubbed a few cm from my feet. Also the woman scrubbing used the same water as I was using to scrub another lady. I asked for a massage instead as was noisy and simply not relaxing. Massage was only half hour and very average. A tourist trap

My favorite bath in Istanbul. I visited in 2015 and 2019. They give you a pair of free size underwear and that's all you wear while you and your friends sit in the sauna and the ladies scrub every inch of your body with soap. I've never felt cleaner. You must be comfortable with partial nudity, even by the elderly employees, and being speedily touched all over. Bring your own extra pair of underwear if you wear a larger size, as the ones they give you are quite small and are intended to get soaked. Make sure to book a massage too. The place itself is beautiful, and my family members all loved the towels I bought them from the gift shop.

It was very cool to be inside a place with that much history and just imagine how it must have been hundreds of years ago. The scrub and soap wash were good and strong, but it did feel very rushed, so it felt a bit like a factory. Also after the treatment it was a bit crowded and it felt like they didn't want you to stick around for too long before getting out and giving the staff their tip (on top of an already expensive entry price). All of this definitely took away from the experience, which could have been much nicer considering the potential of the place.

It has nothing but the distinction of being a historical bathhouse. If you are a tourist from outside, you will mostly see the courtyard, as you can see in the photos I took. You are not allowed to enter the Turkish bath sections unless you are going to receive bath service.

Horrible place. Horrible massage. I paid 70$ literally just for pain. No clear instructions. You basically get old men who don’t have a clue about massage or pressure points. The oil massage was just okay. Everyone wants or expects a tip. Yes, the 15th century architecture is good but it’s just one room and not worth the price. I would not recommend it to anyone at anytime of the day or year. Spend your money elsewhere, not here!

If you are expecting spa like experience forget it. Very rushed... 1/2 time they say for bath by attendant. Architecture incredible, nice for the experience but could be done much better and tips would be much better. No appt needed which causes some times to be busier and more rushed. Front desk friendly, but no one else along the way. Had to figure out everything on my own, look for towels, where to go, no real help or guidance once you pay and get started. Buy, the traditional bath just for experience, knowing it will be hit or miss with bather. Would go elsewhere next time. With a few tweaks could be awesome but then they wouldn’t make as much money. Truthfully, I didn’t trust my locker to be secure.

The Hammam facilities are just great. The scrubbing and the massage were also quite good. Timing wise, they last not as long as they say. And more importantly, the guys look like they are in a rush to get more clients. So they take you from one place to another quickly. That doesn’t help to relax. And last, they will ask you for tips at the end. If you don’t they react in a very rude manner… A real pity…

A very unique experience. But definitely way shorter than what they promise. They keep rushing to to the next thing and it definitely felt rushed. Bath/massage all together were to be 1 and half hour experience- however I was out in one hour. So considering how expensive it is (I got the 500 liras one), they should not rush it

Bad experience! I have been to this hamam with my partner on Sunday evening, in order to avoid the rushed experience described by other reviewers. We both chose the “luxury” package including scrub and oil massage. For me, male area, even being the only customer, together with another guy present in the hamam at the moment, it felt exactly as someone already suggested, a “car-wash” experience where you are rushed from one step to the other by grumpy masseurs who can barely speak any English and who can’t wait to end their task. And they will keep telling you to remember their employee number, marked on their towel, during the whole process, and will wait you in the corridor on your way to the exit, expecting a tip. Not a relaxing evening at all! If this is the real “Turkish hamam experience”, then I’ll make sure it will be the last, there are much better ways to spend 550 liras in Istanbul.

It was my first and only experience in a Turkish bath so I cannot compare, but I must say that I enjoyed the "traditional" package a lot. The building sure looks old but feels very authentic, has charm, and it didn't feel dirty as I saw in many reviews. The main hot room is impressive. Staff was quite direct but very nice, and instructions were a bit sparse but it is probably the language barrier. The scrub and massage were rough, but as far as I know this is how it is supposed to be... I left the place relaxed anyway. I see many comments about the staff asking for tips but I must say no one asked me anything and I didn't feel rushed through any of the process. That said, the place was not busy when I went. I would definitely recommend giving it a go, although it is Indeed quite an expensive treat.

After the payment, the receptionist guided me to an old grumpy guy whom started cursing in Turkish (he taught I did not knowTurkish). I paid for 30 minutes of bathing and another 30 minutes of oil massage. However, the whole thing took me barely 30 minutes. The guy scrubbing me was literally interrogating me asking all the personal questions. The massager was good but fast. At the end, the grumpy old man gave me a towel and all done.

Nice hammam. We went for self service. You just sit in the steamy room and pour water on yourself, but it's really quite relaxing! Other treatments available. The highlight is the building really - not much from the outside but lovely inside.

I visited the Cemberlitas Hamam last week while visiting Istanbul. I liked that you didn't have to make a reservation & seemed affordable. Looking at the services online, the Indian Head Rub sounded delightful to me. I didn't realize that it only comes with a self-service bath. Since it was my first time, I wish I had the full traditional treatment PLUS the head massage. Things weren't really explained to me, so once I was in my towel and in the hot marble room, I didn't have any idea what I was supposed to be doing. I didn't know what buckets or soap I could use, or which stations I should/could be at. A little more explanation would have been nice. I waited for a while in the massage waiting area, before another woman asked me what I was waiting for & went to get someone to do my treatment. The headrub felt great & I almost fell asleep. I think that with a little more explanation of the facilities/options, or opting for the Traditional treatment, it would have been a more enjoyable visit for me.

Nice place. Old and historical one. But it seems a little bit dirty and people are continuously asking for tips and not letting to feel relaxed.

Not worth going there. The barely made scrub for less than 5 minutes and there is no place to relax and gather after hammam. Every one will sit in his own cabin which is very tiny and hot.

DON‘T GO. It’s outrageous what kind of service you get for 50e. They promise 45min treatment with bubble bath (15min) and oil massage (30min). And you can stay in hamam for as long as you like. Bubble bath was at most 5min including a woman that is very much in a rush to get to the next customer and they drag you out of hamam more or less to put you in a WAITING ROOM for massage. We’ve asked a day before of we need a reservation = they’ve said no need, but then we waited in a cold room (after the bubble bath) with wet hair for around 20min. One towel per customer policy doesn’t help here. The massage was nice but extremely short = 15min at most. Outside there is a lady serving tea = you would think that a tea / water in hamam where you payed 50e might be complimentary. Wrong thinking. You need to pay for it. We went to the reception to let them know about this and they‘ve just said oh, ok and that’s all they had to offer. Seriously, for that price you shall be able to get a better service elsewhere. It’s anything else but relaxing.

It was my first experience in a real Turkish hamam, but unfortunately, not so good one. I really liked the atmosphere and this fantastic marble design. It looks authentic. What disappointed me the most is the attitude to Russian women. Turkish staff obviously mistreated only our nationality. I'm not sure what the real reason was. Turkish women were scrubbed and washed better and the length of their procedure was considerably more which made me unhappy 🙁. Besides, I had to ask to wash my head cause she absolutely forgot to do it. After that she did it, but I can't say that it was decent service.

Great place! We were recommended to go there by Turkish people and we really appreciate it, because everything was amazing! Mostly this hammam is visited by local people, and Turkish woman who works there song during the procedure😍 so we were very satisfied with the quality of goods and service!

They aren't called the best for no reason. Built since 1584 it will take you back to the past and to experience first hand how the ladies during Ottoman Empire are being taken care of and pampered. Staff is very friendly, even for those who speaks little English they're still trying to be helpful.

The price is for the tourist. It is very expensive as everything around this district. I did not use their service. Maybe it is good or not what they offer I do not kow. They have computer, and a price list, and some hotel have some discount for this space. But even with the discount the price is still too expensive.

I swear this place is amazing. Friendly staff, professionalism, diligence. I came in to get a trim and shave. I ended up getting trim, style, shave, nose wax, eyebrow trim, head, neck, and shoulder massage, wash, blow dry, aftershave, and moisturise. I was embarrassed by the price too - so fair you'll want to move to Istanbul just to make use of this barber.

Amazing experience. The traditional turkish bath was something I had never experienced before. I came out of there feeling extremely relaxed and with skin as soft as a babies (no exaggeration). I would highly recommend booking a session during your visit in Istanbul. Don't forget to tip your bath guy/lady. The staff really does a great job.

Are you looking for a more Authentic hamam, turkish spa, this is the place. The prices are for the area okey, but be ready to tip extra after the treatment as well. You can choose spa, or spa with cleaning with soap and cleaning, and with oil massage. We've tried all of them in a package and enjoyed it. A must visit place in İstanbul.

Excellent experience from very authentic Turkish bath house. I recommend the 70 euro package. Includes scrub, bubble bath, exfoliation and oil massage.

Absolutely beautiful Turkish bath. It was my first time in a Turkish bath and I loved it. This was simple but comfortable. For 50 euros you could get the scrub and bubble bath massage. The women spoke enough English to explain what they needed me to do and my skin felt great afterwards. There is no time limit in how long you stay so I enjoyed laying on the marble for a while after my treatment. Tea and drinks are extra and is cash only. They also appreciate tips.

Please avoid this hamam. They make you feel like your part of a machine line. I guess because they are so well located, its become a tourist trap, but all the more reason to provide a quality service for these prices. It is not cheap considering the level of service they provide. Better hamams outside of the old city..

When in Istanbul, it felt a must to take advantage of a hammam and a Turkish barbers. My son and I were able to book on the day. We had a good experience and glad that I read the travel hint about making sure that I had cash for tipping the team that looked after me.

Very nice authentic experience! Really recommend! Perfect after a long day, nice option for girls spa days. Scrub and soap massage will leave your skin squeaky clean and if you chose to do an oil massage after that, your skin will become incredibly soft. As a piece of advice- bring some face masks with you to do when you will drink tea after the Hammam and massage. Also make sure you stay Hydrated during the experience, drink a lot of water (we brought our own and it was ok)
