Amazing place. View from the top of Mt Tabor is amazing. Monastery of Franciscans and Church of Transfiguration where Christ prayed and transfigured. Place is very spiritual. If you visit here in spring time and sunny day, you can go around, a lot of greens, many flowers fresh air.

Be careful with the time of the last admission, we arrived 5 minutes late thinking that you could enter until 5:00 p.m. In any case, the climb to the mountain is very beautiful!

Quite the drive up but worth it. Beautiful views and memorable site full of spiritual significance. Check out the view of Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee. Plenty of places for churches to come and worship privately.

This is the place on Mount Tabor where Jesus was transfigured. Quite and peaceful place for worship and meditation. The view from here is amazing. You can see the valley of Armageddon. Simply stunning beauty of nature. A must visit place in Israel.

A good place to go for a photo session, but actually there is nothing to do. Important thing is to know their schedule. The church is opened Mon-Sat 08:00-12:00, 14:00-17:00. It is not allowed for women to enter the church territory in shorts. But if you are somewhere near this mountain, it is a good chance to visit this place and see a standing view from the top of the mountain.

[11-Dec-2022] We were lucky the Franciscan allow us to use the church for Sunday service, provide us an Indonesian priest and have our liturgy and communion. Almost went through the day without having Sunday mass. Also nice scenery and nice cats.

I visited this HOLY place on Mount Tabor. Beautiful ! I went inside and sat there for more than 2 hours. I felt GOD and the Angels. I was never so close to my HOLY FATHER. The history of Mount Tabor is very interesting, so before you visits, inform yourself regarding the history of this HOLY place. GOD bless from South Africa.

As part of a group of pilgrims from the Philippines 🇵🇭, this is one of the many churches that we're lucky enough to visit. We have to transfer to a smaller bus to bring us to the Church of Transfiguration. So many pilgrims and tourists alike flock to this place. Once at the top, one can have a view of the whole mountain. There were two chapels inside the church; the chapel of Moses and the Chapel of Elijah. Very beautiful and peaceful inside.

It takes time to visit here because we have to wait for small vans to go up the hill on a short drive, sometimes there are crowds and there is a wait. There is a majestic church with beautiful grounds, including ruins on one side and a wonderful view vista on the other. Everything closes just at dusk, we made it just in time to see the church before they shooed us out!

Matthew 17: 1-8 This Church is built on the site of Jesus’ transfiguration. Here, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up the mountain and was transfigured before their eyes. He showed His glory and gave strength to His disciples before His passion. While Jesus spoke with Moses and Elijah on the mountain height, The Holy Spirit descended on them as a cloud of Light and the Father spoke blessing over Jesus. Before descending the mount, Jesus tells his disciples, “Do not be afraid.”

The grounds surrounding and leading up to the church are a beautiful garden. The church is spectacular and beautiful reflecting well the events that took place there. It allowed us, as pilgrims, to experience and feel the glory of God that overwhelmed Peter.

You can drive until the entrance. When you arrive at the parking lot you will see the gate to the church closed. To his right, there is an open passage through which the vans pass. It is necessary to cover the shoulders and the knee.

A magnificent church to visit. If you go by public transportation, there’s a mini bus you can take from the kiosk to take you the the top of the hill where the church is located.

Beautiful, holy site on the top of a mountain. Views of the Valley of Armageddon and of other mountains. Beautiful church, but our highlight was Mass for our small group in the Crusaders Chapel - an open air space in the ruined walls built by the Crusaders adjacent to the newer church.

First of all...it's a practicing church...so be advised when coming. .. I was greeted by well taken care gardens. Leading to the building...as I approached there was a service of some sort in the outer space..chanting and pleasant voices singing ... I'd recommend coming here any time

As a matter of fact, it's not just the Church, but the history of every thing I have read in the Bible is just the perfection of the country call Israel -Jerusalem. I will love to come back again. ❤

CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGURATION - MOUNT TABOR : യേശുവിന് തേജോരൂപം സിദ്ധിച്ചതും, 'ഇവനെൻറെ പ്രിയ പുത്രൻ … ഇവനിൽ ഞാൻ സംപ്രീതനായിരിക്കുന്നു … ഇവനെ ശ്രവിക്കുക' എന്ന ദൈവവചനം ഉണ്ടായതുമായ സ്ഥലം Located in Lower Galilee – Atop Mount Tabore - 1,886 ft above sea level - Site of the Transfiguration of Jesus (Jesus and three of his apostles,- Peter, James and John came to this mountain; Prophets Moses and Elijah appeared next to Jesus; Jesus’ face shined as the sun and his garments became white as the light; he spoke with Moses and Elijah, and then a voice from the sky came saying ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him’) – In honour of Jesus, two or three churches, one over the ruins of the other, were built, and lately, between 1919 and 1924, the present Roman Catholic church of the Franciscan order named "Church of the Transfiguration" - In the upper part of the church, above the altar, a mosaic art depicts the Transfiguration – Mount Tabor, besides its holiness, is a picturesque spot with eye catching sceneries – Houses 2 monasteries, one on the left, and the other on the right but a bit far – Visitors coming by buses and other heavy vehicles have to catch cars, vans or other small vehicles from downhill to reach here.

To climb Mount Tavor where the Church of the Transfiguration is, we ride a large bus to a certain limit where everyone must take another small bus of about fifteen people that took us to the top of the mountain where the church is located. The mountain is very high and with many curves. The view is spectacular! There are very nice gardens to take good photos and the area is very spacious. You will see a few priests in the church keeping everything in order and guiding people. Inside the church you will find beautiful and impressive religious mosaics on some of the walls. You will find bathrooms, but no food, weapons, or animals are allowed in the area.

Mount Tabor is strategically located on the main north-south ancient road, and for most Christians it is a Holy mountain - "the mount of Transfiguration".  It was an important fortress during the First and Second Temple, Greek,  Roman and Crusaders times. This page is an overview of the topography, history and sites on mount Tabor. Additional web pages detail various sites on the hill
