Charming wooden beds were the reason I booked this place... Idk if those are the old beds, but now there are metal beds, rooms are small and smelly (windows don't open all the way, it's stuffy and humid because of the bathrooms in the rooms). Kitchen is very small with no place to eat (the downstairs lounge/sitting area is enough for 3 people). Cleanliness and wibe are OK.... You are near Galata so it's very busy and crowded. Staff is great but that's pretty much all the good in here

When you went to the cozy roof terrace you where certain of a great night with other guests. Because the hostel was almost next to Galata Kulesi and therefor in the middle of the centrum you could easily walk to some clubs or bars. The only good thing about this hostel is the location. I didn’t see a cleaner once. The room wasn’t cleaned in four days, not even swept. The bathroom was filthy with mould all over the shower and grime in build up in the toilet. The bin was overflowing because no one ever emptied it. The hot water didn’t work properly, which was very uncomfortable on cold days. The staff were nice but sat around the front desk chatting and laughing loudly until very late at night and the sound carried into the rooms which had very thin walls and doors. The beds were cheap and rickety and shook anytime anyone moved. The alley outside has heavy car and foot traffic with a lot of noise. I’ve been traveling for almost three years and this is possibly the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. I extended my stay in Istanbul but moved hostels because it was so bad.

In the morning I alerted the staff & requested early check out & a refund for the remainder of my booking. Which I thought was only fair. I even offered to forgo the portion of the deposit paid through hostel world. The owner said a hostel must not be clean, ‘it is not a hotel’ and gave me less than 1/3 than I should have been due. Aside from this terrible aspect here is the rest of my review. Cons, be careful what you wish for if it’s cheap, right next to a mosque so be prepared to wake up at 6am, thin walls, could hear everything, broken shower, the social & kitchen area looks MUCH nicer in the photos than in real life, WiFi didn’t work in room. Pros, the bed wasn’t uncomfortable, if you find yourself in a similar situation to me at least it’s cheap enough to not throw too much money down the drain!
