🕵🏼It is definitely worth the price you pay, it is a rare museum that everyone who is interested in film culture should definitely visit. The moment I heard its name, I became curious and decided to go on the road. ⏰You can visit the museum every day between 11:00-19:00 except Monday. 📕This building, which dates back to 1870, during the Abdülaziz Period, was actually built by Armenian businessman Agop Köçeyan for the purpose of using it as a winter house. However, when the ownership of the mansion passed to the brothers Aziz and Ahmet Borovalı in the 1930s, some parts of the building were used as an entertainment center. After the restoration between 2019 and 2021, the section of Atlas Cinema, which has survived to this day, became the Istanbul Cinema Museum. (Source: Atlas Cinema/Wikipedia) 🎥 If you are interested in old Turkish movies, cinema, and Yeşilçam, you should definitely come. All kinds of cameras, including the oldest cameras used for filming, are exhibited in the museum. There are many exhibitions and interactive activities on which the best movies of all time were shot. While visiting the museum, look at the old mythology-style paintings on the ceiling. 🎟️The museum is located on Istikal Street. Entrance fee is 100₺ for students and 180₺ for adults. Museum card is not valid. 🚌 To reach Istiklal Street, You can get off at Taksim or Şişhane metro stops of the M2 (Hacıosman-Yenikapı) metro line, You can get off at the Karaköy stop of the T1 (Bağcılar-Kabataş) tram line and take the F2 (Karaköy-Beyoğlu) funicular, the world's second metro.

(Translated by Google) It's been a great museum. You can see Ghoul yi Tosun Pasha and Hafize Anayi :)) Also, tablet virtual reality applications are very successful. If you happen to be on Istiklal Street, definitely stop by :) (Original) Cok guzel bir muze olmus. Beautiful museum! Highly recommend it. One suggestion, they would make a lot more money if there was a gift shop that sold the posters for the old movies you can see in the museum.

(Translated by Google) It can't be explained with great, awesome words, everyone should go and see it, it's 30 TL full admission student, 15 TL, but you pay 30 TL. It's not much we give, especially there is a machine that shoots videos as if you are in Yeşilçam.

Sadece Adile Naşit’in heykelini çok beğenemedim.

The building in which the Istanbul Cinema Museum is located is one of the first examples of the restructuring process of Beyoğlu and carries Neoclassical influences specific to the end of the 19th century, where the Classical style was revived. The ceiling decorations of the museum are so magnificent that they almost trap you inside. It competently reflects the architectural style of the period with its marble fireplaces and plaster reliefs. The building, built as a winter palace by the famous businessman of the period, Agop Köçeyan, in 1870, was called Köçeyan Mansion. The building, which was also temporarily used as a court by the British occupation forces between 1918 and 1922, was later converted into the General Directorate of PTT. The Atlas Arcade building was repaired in 1932 and transformed into an entertainment and arts center, and 16 years later, Atlas Cinema, one of the largest cinemas in Beyoğlu, was opened.

I admire the archive culture of Mimar Sinan University. I believe that it would be much more valuable to have an idea about some "first" films, awards and memories before you go.

There are so many interactive things in the museum, I found it fun and loved experiencing it. I can say that it is a museum that everyone will enjoy, not just those with a special interest in cinema.

I was very impressed by the development of cameras from past to present, the materials used in cinema, especially the notebooks containing the drawings of directors about Turkish cinema, the hand-drawn movie posters were also beautiful and the digital experience green box experiences were also very nice, it provides a pleasant experience for children, but of course it is a different taste for adults.

I visited the permanent exhibition and the Star Wars special exhibition. Ticket = 250 TRY. Very disappointing. Basically all you see are a few old cameras and some Lego Star Wars models ...

  • 5/5 Deniz 4 months ago on Google
Nowadays, there is an exhibition of Star Wars on the upper floor called "Fans of The Galaxy". Apart from this, the Istanbul Cinema Museum sheds tremendous light on Turkish Cinema, known as Turkey's "Green Glass". My advice is to go one day during the day, not 2-3 hours. to both the Cinema Museum and Star Wars because there is so much content. You can visit it in 2 hours, but you won't enjoy it.

Must visit place if you are around! Not only great for cinema enthusiasts but also for people who enjoy creative content and art in an amazing setting. Even if I am not a cinema fan, I have enjoyed the highly creative content & amazing presentation about Turkish cinema as well as the incredible collection of cinematic equipments showing different eras of cinema. While the museum content was great, the magnificent historical building with its stairs, high ceilings and stunning murals on these ceiling were even better. You will be surprised to learn these murals are art of Berteaux, a famous french painter who were also the painter of Sultan Abdulaziz between 1872-1875. Overall a great place designed with extraordinary efforts of great people.

Worth the visit for those interested in Turkish cinema. Besides, the evolution of cameras is another topic. English translations are available and multi media is used a lot. I liked the multi media table containing an arichve of more than 8000 Turkish movies a lot. A plus is the awesome reconstructed building.

Absolutely loved this museum. I experienced the Stanley Kubrick event and it was breath-taking. There were around 900 pieces of materials and clothes and devices Kubrick used back in his day. Definitely a must visit.

If you come to Istanbul you have to come here. The place is awesome with different of cool technology and old movies. Honestly I did bot have a favorite part. Everything was beutiful and cool. There was a big technological board where you drag old movies and see the actors and info about the movie. Then there is a green screen where you choose the movie and you are in a part of the movie and you can either take pictures or videos. Then there is a phone where you open it and then you hear the talking of the people in the movies. There are some tablets in one place where you scan or code and watch the clip of a old movie and there is a place where you see witch movies were taken in kapalua carsi. There so much more things. Go there.

After the renovations, this place has turned into a must-see must-visit spot for anyone who loves movies. Make sure that you have enough time to explore the permanent collection which houses historical cinema related items such as projectors, scripts, cameras etc. Don't forget to visit the temporary exhibition which at the time of my visit had the Stanley Kubrick collection. Amazing!
