Taco Bill may not be a particularly ‘foodie’ type restaurant but you have to hand it to them for having so many of these venues all over Melbourne for such a long period of time considering they aren’t particularly cheap for what you get. I always enjoy my meal while noting that the fare is not reminiscent of what I ate in Mexico. I recommend the chicken flautas with a side of sour cream. Not on the menu anymore but they’ll still make it if you ask Update Back we came to use the tokens (great marketing tactic) alas we left them at home so we will back yet again. Enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa. This used to be standard but I’ve noticed other chains have abandoned it of late. Delicious nachos every time Original review I would not be exaggerating in the slightest to say I've been to Taco Bill 50 times over the past ten plus years but I just wanted to commend this branch on their service. After an enjoyable catch up with a girlfriend for dinner the staff gave us a free sombrero and complimentary margarita tokens to use next time. Like I needed a reason to go back for more mango tequila goodness. Yum

Fabulous food and service at Taco Bill's. The food was yummy and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Icy cold beers and great margaritas. They had run out of bananas for the dessert we wanted but the boss ran out to buy some more. A great experience.

Very upset with the service. I had come to pick up a take away and what i was greeted with was a very rude experienced. I felt like just because i wasn't sitting down and eating that i was someone who didnt matter to them. Very much felt pushed aside and was made me feel super comfortable. The second star was because the food wasnt too bad, i guess

In town for the tennis and we were craving Tacos. Taco Bill delivered the goods. We had the nachos to share and a couple of tacos each. The fish was a standout. And the frozen margaritas are a winner.

Make your way up the tired stairwell to this joint with warm service and a festive atmosphere. The street tacos I ordered were underwhelming. The pico de gallo was fresh but the chicken was not the best quality. If you’re expecting authentic mex, give this place a skip. The place is very colorful and I feels like I’m in Mexico at the moment. All the tacos was amazing I couldn’t stop to order

The food is good and affordable with a groupon voucher. Voucher condition requires you to order a drink. The meals have reduced in size from 2 years ago. The cornchips and salsa are complimentary and delicious. The salsa uses fresh herbs and is top notch. The cornchips are so crunchy. The service is okay and quite friendly. Sometimes it's very friendly, largely dependent upon who you get serving you on the day. NOTE: Bear in mind to make a booking or phone ahead just to ensure the restaurant is open as they don't open as per advertised opening times. I experienced this sadly. The restaurant is very quiet and maybe this is why. The food is fresh, tasty and delicious.

This place is lots of fun. Cheap drinks, cozy atmosphere in a hidden stairway. The food is good but not superb, but the portion sizes are good and it is cheap. It's a good place to bring dates or a couple of friends. Since the place is a bit small, you might have trouble fitting a larger group, so try booking in advance.

Very delicious food, and very unique decorations. This restaurant has been there for at least 10 years since my first visit and the flavour of the food is top noutch. It makes you felt you are in a different country from the way they decorate. I think they need to spent a bit money on the carpet cleaning from the entrance but the food, I will repeat here again it tasty soooo good. If you go there. Buy the prawn, it is so fresh

This place was something I have been looking for since I came to Melbourne. A authentic, laid back, friendly Mexican resteraunt. The service was amazing and the staff was so welcoming. Since being in Melbourne, it’s been all flashy and intimidating food spots. If you’re someone that wants good food and to get away from that, come to taco bill! The food is authentic, the staff is amazing and the overall experience is one that can’t be replicated around here. I’ll skip the over priced/low quality tapas in a heart beat for this place… and YOU should too.

My go-to Mexican of choice in Melbourne. Premises are a bit tired looking, but I have always found the food and service good. The menu is nothing special with fairly “standard Mexican restaurant” fare, but there is nothing wrong with that if it is done well. Frozen Margaritas are great on a hot evening!

It’s my first time having Mexican food, and I’m glad I had it here! I especially loved the Carne Colorado (beef taco) - very tender chunks of meat and nice spices - although the stuffed jalapeño were good too. Good portion sizes for the price as well, for the taco! Very friendly staff. I definitely look forward to my next visit.

Loved the whole mexican vibe the place has to offer. We’d ordered fajitas and Enchiladas. Paired it with chilli margaritas . That’s a combo that could never go wrong. Food was great, Its a cool place to check out.

It's costly but sooooo worth it! Thier food is well prepared and seasoned, and the chicken fajita salad is very refreshing. We ordered some fruit margarita to go with it, the tropical is fantastic, and the pineapple was alright. On the side, the quesadillas are superb, you get 4 slices each with garnish and a good crunch. Go for the beef! Pretty standard tacos except for the fish one... I ended up ordering two, after having just one bite of my partner's fish taco. Just that good!

Lovely to find a Mexican restaurant with Spanish speaking staff. Drinks were amazing and lots of gluten free food options. Highly recommend.

Food 3.5, cleanliness 1; We were once turned back just after 12 by the staff saying they were not yet open (though the timings are 12 onwards). Second time there were some deliveries sitting at the entrance thawing in a puddle when we got there. Barring these, food was good and nice ambience. Vegetarian taco option was not great but fish was delish. Only men’s loo was open. Ladies was locked. Up a flight of stairs, so not easily accessible.

What can I say, two thumbs up. The food is great and service is excellent. I highly recommend the combination plate....

I come here EVERY visit to Melbourne and I am never disappointed by the food or service. The only reason I have taken away a star is the general cleanliness of the place. If you sit near the windows and see all the accumulated dust in the window sills.... 😬 does make you wonder about the rest of the place. But otherwise food and service is always amazing

Hidden gem in Melbourne! We visited on a Sunday night and were delighted by the service and quality. It turned out to be a really busy night for the one waiter who was on who handled the pressure like a professional… no sweat at all! The food came out pretty quickly for our table of two and tasted fresh and flavourful. The fish tacos were some of the best we’ve had. We’ll be back!

Really nice staff - told them I had theatre tickets and they made sure I was out in time. I didn’t want guacamole so made sure I got extra salsa as I was paying for t so I should get something he said. Really good Taco Bills although the music was loud when asked they turned it down as they were not sure how loud it was - so we’re happy to oblige

Authentic Mexican food served by authentic Colombians. I love it! One of my favourite places in the city to eat. The nachos are absolutely delicious and are my favourite dish, a staple I return to over and over despite my lactose intolerance. Yes, they’re that good, especially with the pulled beef option.

Massive shout out to the amazing staff at Taco Bill's on Russell Street last night. We came in so late, near close and they treated us to a party like atmosphere. They fed us, gave us yummy slushies and played fun tunes. We all had such a ball and it meant so much to all of us. Thank you to the chefs and waiting staff for looking after us like family. You made a wonderful evening so perfect!

We've eaten here many times. I love the food each and every time. Keeps us coming back. Meals can take some time (as do the margaritas if they are busy) but we keep coming back so it's a SOLID recommendation. Sit, sample a range of different margaritas with friends (free sombrero with the fishbowls) and enjoy the loud, vibrant atmosphere. This is the type of place you bring your favourite people to and enjoy the heck outta life!!

Great value Mexican lunch Tucked near the corner of Russell and Bourke, Taco Bill Russell has been a regular lunch haunt for quite a few years. Recently renovated the restaurant is cosy and not too busy during lunch. The extreme lunch special is a great value meal of a nice blend of tacos, nachos and burritos. Make sure your are hungry.

It was my first time for being here and tried Mexican food and also the hottest chilli in the bottle in this place 😊🌶️🥵 Nice food, delicious, good service. The only thing that you need to take care of is the dripping air conditioner in the back that made the seat gets wet as we need to move to different seat. But overall,. This restaurant has a good service. I'll back next time, okay 👌🏻

Celebrated a friend’s birthday here. Staff were super friendly and welcoming! The birthday girl even got testers of the margaritas. Food was really good! Amazing Mexican food in a nice cozy ambience. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. Customer service was great and the food was delicious. Ordered prawn fajita, enchilada nuevo Mexico, tacos, chile fries and dessert. Used some vouchers, make sure to book prior. Highly recommend 👍

We love taco bill and regularly come to this one. But we just thought we would let you know that we booked online for new years day and I even received a confirmation, just to travel to the city and turn up for it to be closed. No call no nothing telling us you were going to be closed? What kind of management allows this to happen?

This was the best taco bill I have been to yet! Despite only having only one server on, we were still taken care of. Food was top notch (a bit on the pricey side for a chain restaurant) and the look and feel of the restaurant as a whole was splendid. Definitely recommend!

I do not recommended this place. The drinks are not as good as others taco bill store, for example South Melbourne. They charge for the chips and salsa (they normally give for free in other stores when you arrive). We waited over 45 minutes for drinks and 1 hour for our food. We will never go back.

A Nice Place with Pretty chic Ambience...Very Colourful and Mexico like...Place is Small and Very Popular so better to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Staff is Courteous and even helps in choosing right sauce for you. Food is overall OK...We tried Tacos, Jalapeno Poppers and Quesadillas...They were quite similar in taste...We intend to visit again soon and hoping to order based on suggestion of the Staff.

It's an institution in Melbourne. Great customer service and they were very nice to accommodate us on arrival. Tacos tasted bloody good. Nachos could be added with more guacamole, otherwise it was delicious.

First time in Taco Bill Russell St and YOU have to go! It's the cutest little spot with amazing food. The God save The king (Coconut Tequila M) is to die for. The service we received were so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and give us an amazing experience.

Went there for our last dinner in Melbourne before flying out to Sydney. Their Beef Fajita is heaven! Would love to eat there again one day when i come back to Melbourne!
