I can't tell you the amount of times I've passed this restaurant by and never gone in. After a recommendation from family, I finally gave it a go. Wowsa. So glad I did. It was Mother's Day night, and they were busy, but the food came out in good time, and everything was spot on. It's a small place with an odd shape, but they packed a lot of people in, yet you can hear yourself think. The menu isn't too different from other Indian restaurants, but the food itself is really good. We didn't have any entree/starter/appetiser, but straight on to mains. The butter chicken was delightful. It was flavourful, and spot on. The garlic naan actually had real garlic as opposed to garlic powder which many places use. The rice was lovely and fluffy and it all made for a wonderful meal. Before they took the dishes away, the owner(?) asked if we loved everything, and wanted to even give us a dessert on the house, but we were too full. Then he asked about our preferences for flavour, as when we come next time, he'll choose something we might like and he'll make a little dish of it so we can try it and expand our palate. That's almost unheard of, but such good service. The pricing is good, the parking is handy and easy, and overall, I couldn't fault it at all. It's obviously a good local neighborhood gem, but one worth making the trip to. I highly, highly recommend it.

Can’t say a single bad thing about this place and the amazing people who run it. Food is absolutely brilliant - probably the best Indian food I’ve had in Australia. Service is always impeccable and they really take the time to make sure everything is perfect for you, e.g. offering to customise your orders, explaining spice levels, the difference between dishes, etc. They did so much for the community during lockdowns and continue to support the community - most recently by sponsoring vouchers to raise funds for local schools. A great restaurant run by wonderful people whom I’ll be glad to keep supporting.

I had bad experience at this Indian spot last night. I ordered Chicken Biryani but it turned out to be Goat Biryani, and the meat was so tough and chewy. When I raised the issue, the manager dismissed it as a miscommunication with the chef, showing little remorse. Instead of rectifying the mistake, the manager suggested I arrive earlier next time, which felt like blame-shifting. When I wanted to cancel my order, he insisted on giving it to me as a takeaway, saying I already ate half of it and it's like getting free food. But hey, I paid for it! It felt like they didn't care at all about messing up my meal and just wanted to get rid of me. Really disappointed with the whole experience. Even when people give restaurants just one star or leave negative reviews, it seems like this business hardly ever takes responsibility for messing up. Instead of saying sorry and trying to make things right, they come up with excuses or blaming people they are trying to spread negativity. It's frustrating to see this happen because it makes customers feel like their complaints don't matter.

Really good food, just with smaller portions than expected. Sauces were excellent - thick and flavoursome instead of watery/oily. That's always something I prefer with Indian/Sri Lankan. Lovely service; the restaurant is pretty small and from the outside it almost looks like a take away which is deceiving. This also gives it a very intimate feel, which is great for 2 on a date :) Prices are fine, not too expensive. You do have to walk through the kitchen to get to the toilet, which is a thing. Recommend the Vindaloo

We visited Swaad restaurant yesterday and had a delightful experience. The starters were unique and tasty (especially the pakoda). Garlic Rotis were awesome as well. The only thing they can get better at is the time they take to cook / serve.

We love the food here. Nice authentic Indian taste. Mains may seem a bit on the expensive side but they come with 2 naans or rice so that evens it out. Have had takeaways a few times, but world love to dine in a well.

The staff were fantastic, very helpful with want we wanted to try. They worked with us as we had a vegetarian with us. Food was awesome, very tasty and not too hot. Rotis and malai kofta curry was good, but methi malai paneer was exactly same curry as malai kofta with very few methi leaves in it. Hopefully they get it right next time for the price of the food.

I highly recommend this place for their vegetarian cuisine 🍛Good restaurant for friends, children and family. Value for money 💰 Quality of food is awesome. They also serve alcohol 🍷 Most important, it is very clean and the ambience is good. I would recommend to make a reservation before you go to be at safer side as they serve excellent table.

This place is amazing, by far the best Indian food we have ever had. The spices, quantity, taste and quality of food is something you would find at the Hilton. So highly recommended. But wait there’s more. The service, care from the waiting staff and owner was of high world class standards. Last minute decision to go has been so worth it. We will be back.

We went as a family for the first time Saturday night, Im not much of a review writer but I feel compelled to share this magical delicious restaurant with the world. From the moment you enter you feel the love and it comes through in the traditional home cooking and atmosphere, the staff are delightful and the food is exceptional, we cant wait to go back, I'm dreaming about that Garlic Nunn bread yum!!

Just had an absolutely lovely meal. Each dish perfectly balanced in spice and flavour, so delicious. Lovely staff, attentive service, clean decor and tremendous value. The type of place you’d never tire of coming back for the food. Lovely.

Authentic Indian taste. Loved the food and the host Mr Sourabh’s customer interactions were very polite and service is customer focussed. I have been going to Swaad since they first opened and have celebrated many milestones here with loved ones because I want to share this resturant with everyone. The owner is genuinely passionate about the food and always treats myself (and I'm sure many others) like family. The food is sensational. Everything is. I cannot speak highly enough about Swaad. The butter chicken is to die for but I'm sure you will be happy with any dish. Highly suggest the the dal too, full of flavour!

This restaurant is by far the best Indian restaurant in Melbourne. My partner and I come here frequently and we have never had a negative experience whatsoever. I ordered from the no garlic/gluten free menu last night and was so impressed with the quality of food and the service from the restaurant. I called up to ensure they had gluten free naan and they let me know that they would make it fresh for me now. I haven't had Indian food in a fair few years because of my intolerances and it was so nice to taste all the goodness and spices again without the stress of worrying about if there is gluten or garlic in the food. I will definitely be re-ordering again and would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you!!! :D

The manager needs to change his attitude towards customers when issues arise. When the food was late, he spoke next to my partner and apologized only towards him. He approached to us seemingly very nice but asked me rudely “what about you (feel about the food)?” At the check, when I suggested he should talk to both of us he argued he’s the manager and he knew what to do… I mean don’t you look at the person when you talk to or apologize to them?? I don’t look local so I don’t know this is an attitude issue or racism or what.

Last night for the first time we dined at swaad, We are not experienced with Indian food but found everything we ordered to be delicious. The food was spiced to perfection and the portions were spot on.The ambience and service were pleasant. Overall it was an enjoyable evening .Will definitely dine in again soon.

GREAT EXPERIENCE, GREAT SERVICE, DELICIOUS FOOD, First thing you notice is the tentative care the owner runs this place with, the staff are friendly and made sure we were well looked after. My Partner and I came in for a quick dinner, We were surprised to see one curry dish is served with either 2 naan or a bowl of rice. At 28$ Unlike many other restaurants that charge upwards of $30 for curry alone. We shared the butter chicken and 2 naans and added a bowl of rice. Our total meal which filled both of us up perfectly came to $36 The food was served so quickly, and a special mention to the FREE entree of papadums upon entry. I will definitely be coming back here with friends and family. If you’re considering choosing a restaurant for a nice dinner or date night, this is the place.

We’ve gone to Swaad many times for takeaway and have been super impressed with the food every time. Last night we dined in for the first time to celebrate my mum’s birthday and, again, the food was top notch. I’ve only moved to the area in the last year and after seeing multiple great reviews of this place on social media I thought I would try it. The food was amazing, best butter chicken I have tasted in a very long time and I also tried something different in the chilli garlic prawns and also potato eggplant curry as I am trying to eat less meat. Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to order it again. I would rate this as some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted. If you want great Indian food look no further than this place!

Based on the raving reviews, we went in for quick dinner today. Pros- accessibility to the restaurant and location, ambience, cleanliness in restaurant, staff was polite, quantity of food and we got a place without reservation. Cons- The chicken biryani that we ordered tasted like pulao with almost boiled chicken and literally no spices(very bland), although the raita that accompanied it (came a bit later) tasted so much better.

Best Indian food we've eaten, we will be back! We recently moved to the area and wanted to find a new local indian restaurant as it's one of our favourite cuisines. Although the online booking system was a bit clunky and appeared to not work, we were still welcomed to a table with a later booking. The service was generally very good.

Great tasting food and excellent service! I have been ordering from this restaurant for a couple of years now, and the quality of food never disappoints. The delivery is always on time if not earlier, and delivered nice and warm. Lately it is our standing Friday night order, our favourite main is the Beef Vindaloo (Hot)!! Their chicken biryani is also lovely.

Walked into restaurant to order take away. Very busy as evening of "Father's Day". Very pleasant staff - told me honestly that it could be 40 mins till ready. As I am a local, I returned home and staff said they would ring my mobile when food ready. they were true to their word (most impressed!) & by the way, the food was absolutely superb, as good as any Indian food I have ever had in my 73 years. I'll be back for sure!

Very flavourful and substantive in terms of burst of experience for mounth and tongue. Pricing for the vege and meat main dishes are abt the same. Personally i would prefer meat dishes. Vege main dishes appeal less to me as i truly enjoy the taste of chewing to extract even more flavor from the dishes.

My partner and I regularly make the 45 minute drive across town to enjoy the best Indian food that Melbourne has to offer. The staff always welcome us with a smile and are very accommodating with dietaries. Could not recommend enough!

Visiting from Scotland and we popped into our daughter’s favourite local restaurant and we were blown away by the food and service. Can highly recommend the Chicken Tikka and Goat Curry. Thanks to Saby and the team for a lovely meal and for the delicious complimentary desserts.
