They renewed my student museum card for 30 liras, which is an unbelievable price (1,60€ in december 2021) to visit 300+ museums for one more year. İnteresting museum full of gratitude to Türkiye's father. No english descriptions. Worth a visit as it is very central.

We walked here from our hotel. Entrance was 125 lire (£4) and I think that covered the Parliamentary museum just down the street too. The museum was fascinating to see how much was done by such a small group of people that transformed the entire country. There were information boards, in English, in every room and plenty of artifacts and uniforms as well as the rooms themselves to put things into context. It certainly helped me understand a period that I didn't really know much about.

125 TRY ticket price... shame on you! I guess car of the director is nice and expensive. I made special trip to Ankara only to visit Mausoleum of Ataturk. Paid for air tickets and the hotel for that. So I am able to pay for museum tickets too. But I see that as unfair business as its not just some museum. Great ancestors fight for freedom for all Turkey, and now administration making profit on their memory?

Kesinlikle gidilmeli. Ancak 1. Meclisten daha çok etkilendim diyebilirim. Özellikle Atatürk’ün ve diğer devlet büyüklerinin eşyalarının sergilendiği alanlar muhteşem. Tarihi resmen kokluyorsunuz. Anıtkabir sonrası gezilecek ilk yer olarak işaretlenmeli.

İlk Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisine gidip görmek gerekiyor. Girer girmez geçmişin izlerini yansıtıyor bizlere. O duyguları yaşamak görmek çok güzel oluyor. İçeriye müze kart ile giriş sağlayabilirsiniz. Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim.

For any history or cultural buff visiting this place along with the second Parliament which is 100 m down the street is a real must in Ankara - city that hasn't got that much to offer to tourist, so it's just one more reason to add this to your list. Entry ticket of just around 3-4 Euros allows you to visit both - 1st and 2nd Parliament. As Turkey lost the WWI, the allied powers tried to divide the Ottoman territory among themselves, while at the same time Ataturk was double struggling to overthrow the Sultan power in Istanbul and defend the country from invading forces starting his resistance from his headquarters in Ankara. This edifice in downtown Ankara served as the first Turkish Parliament and as you enter you can clearly see it was not built for that purpose. You can visit several rooms now converted into a museum, while the most interesting is the intact assembly room where the first Parliament used to meet in ex school benches. This Parliament was in service only for few years until 1924 when it moved to the 2nd one just down the road. You need around 30-45 min for a visit

History of the Building Ankara Ulus square in the First Grand National Assembly of Turkey on the construction of the building began in 1915. The plan of the building, which was originally designed as the clubhouse of the Committee of Union and Progress, was made by the foundations architect Salim Bey, and the construction was supervised by the military architect of the corps, Hasip Bey. The most distinctive feature of the two-storey building in Turkish architectural style is the use of Ankara stone (ANDESITE) on its walls. When it was decided to convene the assembly in this building on April 23, 1920, the building, which was not finished yet, was completed with the contribution of the nation as the work of a national excitement. of 15 October 1924. Turkey used as Parliamentary Grand National building then the Republican People's Party headquarters and continued to function as the School of Law, in 1952, was transferred to the Ministry of Education in 1957 initiated efforts to convert it into a museum. Within the framework of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Atatürk's birth, it was reopened by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums in 1981 as the "War of Independence Museum" on April 23, 1981 as a result of the restoration and exhibition works. I. Opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey On April 23, 1920, thousands of people around the Assembly waited for the opening of the Assembly with a large crowd. After the necessary ceremonies, the Assembly held its first meeting with 115 representatives. The first opening speech of the Assembly was made by Sinop MP Şerif Bey, the oldest member elected as the Chairman of the Assembly. "Dear attendees; It is known that the caliphate and the center of government were occupied by foreign forces with temporary registration and independence was restricted in all respects. Bowing down in this situation means that our nation accepts the foreign bondage offered to it. However, our nation, which was determined to live with full independence and lived free and independent from time immemorial, rejected this slavery firmly and decisively and immediately started to gather its representatives and formed its supreme Assembly. As the head of this supreme Assembly and with the help of Allah, I open the National Assembly by organizing its future personally and declaring it to the whole world, within the full independence of our nation, both inside and outside. " After this opening speech, Mustafa Kemal, the Ankara MP, took the floor and made the following explanation about which members the Assembly will consist of. "As you know, your Supreme Assembly is made up of respectable deputies who have been re-elected with extraordinary powers, and esteemed deputies who came here to save their lives from the center of the reign that was attacked and occupied. The creation of a supreme Parliament with the deputies who may flee and come here has only been the subject of the newly implemented electoral style. has been collected as. " On April 24, 1920, the second meeting of the Assembly was held and Mustafa Kemal was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Assembly. Mustafa Kemal made a long and meaningful speech at this meeting, He emphasized the importance of the assembly, saying "There is no power over the supreme assembly anymore". Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi (TBMM) 23 Nisan 1920 de Osmanlı Devleti'nin İtilâf devletlerin işgaline direniş göstermek üzere kurulmuştur. Aslı görevi yürütmeyi denetlemek olan ve yasama erkini kullanan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin anayasal devlet organıdır. Egemenlik, kayıtsız, şartsız, milletindir. İlkesi Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi ' nin varoluşunun temel dayanağını oluşturur.
