Does it need some updating? Yes. Are the carpets and elevators a little creepy and dated? Yes. Is the gym small and equipment suuuper limited? Yes, so much so I chose to do a plyo workout sans any of their equipment. But there were so many positives! The staff is extremely courteous and seemed kind and willing to help anyone an everyone with their questions. We came on a day where there was a Christmas tree decoration contest, so the lobby and surrounding areas were beautifully decorated and lit with themed Christmas trees. The lobby itself has a large piano and a constantly lit fire in their large fireplace. It was lovely to sit there with our morning drinks as we waited for the rest of our party. The rooms are very large, with comfortable king beds and a sitting area. We had mini-fridges and microwaves in addition to a writing desk and of course the large tv. I like the setup of these rooms because the bathroom is behind the bedroom, so if one person needs to use it, the light will not wake anyone else up. The sink area has ample space for all your toiletry bags and even has complimentary coffee pods and a keurig. There is a mirrored closet which fit two of our carry-ons, side-by-side, fully opened up. The toilet and shower are behind another door, again offering prime privacy if sharing space with someone else. I love this convenient setup! As you walk down the halls, there are small sitting areas where you can watch the water. There are exits leading to a paved path along the water. Just across the street is a shopping mall, restaurants, nail salon, etc. It's a great location. The Hotel could use some updates, but we were very happy with it!

The room and service staff are great. The room was very clean as well as the rest of the facility. Only down side was, if you have room with a balcony, the smoker's below us, their smoke came into our room. My wife and I are not non- smokers. Other than that highly recommended. Great view of the river and walking distance to a mall and and alot of other amenities.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! One of the worst hotel experiences I've had and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone! Booked a room on Valley River Inn's website with a king bed which stated it was non-refundable with check-in time being 4pm. We drove for 4 hours to get there right at 4pm so we could check in and change for a show we were attending at 5. Our room was not ready as advertised on their website and we were told by the front desk that they could not tell me when my room would be ready. We left to find a place to get changed and went to the show. Returned to the hotel at 630pm and asked if our room was ready and after looking for a while, the man at the front desk said we were up-graded to a room with a microwave. I asked what kind of bed was in the room and he said a queen. I asked for the room I paid for which had a king bed and he said they were over booked and had no more rooms with kings. I am not a small person so this bed did not work for us and we got little to no sleep that night before our 4 hour drive home. I would really like to know what happened to my room that was not ready at 4 but was given to someone else by 630. This hotel is under-staffed and from the looks of the room we were DOWN-GRADED to I doubt they even bothered to change our sheets. Again, DO NOT STAY AT VALLEY RIVER INN.

Worse hotel where I been too. I was trying to check in on 10 October 2022, the front desk was very rude and unprofessional. they didn’t accept my first card, I provide them another card and they canceled my reservation what I paid for, I booked trough Expedia. I do travel a lot and that’s my worse experience I had. I was there at 8, if you want to be treated not like human being, that’s hotel number one. I hope the front desk will get a training how to treat customer and handle issues.

Definitely older, and it shows. Some of the guest rooms have been "kind of" updated, mine has modern art and headboard, a nice, new mattress and the typical flat screen. Bathroom fixtures and carpet are definitely not updated, but are functional. A/C works great, bed is very comfortable. Room has a fridge but no microwave, (kind of a bummer since I'm here on business for two weeks) but also kind of understandable because 1. People are rude and messy and 2. They have a restaurant they want you eating in! Restaurant food has been reeeaaalllyyy good the few times I've been in, wait and bar staff are friendly and attentive. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. A couple of days after check in, I had a maintenance issue. I went and asked for it to be fixed the next morning, they had it done before I got back from dinner. Room is spacious; outdoor pool and hot tub are empty during this time of year; there is a washer and dryer that look pretty clean. Overall a decent place, definitely not a sleek new hotel but clean and serviceable.

Very nice hotel on the river. Room was large, comfortable. Restaurant seating looks out to the river. Breakfast was delicious, good portions. Shopping mall, close walk from hotel. Friendly staff. Enjoying our stay here.

We had family from all over the country come in to celebrate my father's 100th birthday. Prior to them leaving, we dined at Sweetwaters Restaurant at Valley River Inn. The food was fantastic! Everyone raved about it. I suggest going to Sweetwaters for a great experience dining alongside the Willamette River. Beautiful setting and fantastic food!

This is a top notch hotel for conventions. Plenty of meeting rooms and a nice restaurant in the main building. There is an Elmers within walking distance. The employees there are very friendly and professional.

Our room was very nice and comfortable. I was surprised that we were on the first floor and had a patio. The only negative thing I have to say is that the hotel restaurant, although they had good food, was very expensive. Inwould stay here again.

Booked a king room, was given a queen. Nice tv but strange placement next to the bed. Also not a fan of having to pay $10 for parking we were also woken up by housekeeping at 8:30 am. Not worth the price tag.

Great location and responsive staff. The rooms need a deep clean. Stained walls, dust bunnies, and dirty bed skirt. We were a little surprised since it is over a 3 star hotel. We expected better.

I went there and stayed for my wedding anniversary and I will never forget it. It was very elegant and the hot tub in my room was huge. I felt like a queen. The service was great and the cleanliness of the room was great. Thank you Valley River.....

It can be a bit expensive, but the service is always fantastic. Rooms are spotless, it is very quiet, staff is professional. I like to stay here when I want peace and quiet for a night or two and I know, nobody is going to be knocking on my door.

Very nice rooms. Attended a Christmas party on site and stayed in a comfortable room before heading home the next day. Lots of food and shopping within walking distance including a very nice Elmer's.

Our room was sanitary and up to date! The food and service at Sweet Waters was high-end and terrific! But the best part was that we were able to long-term park our vehicle for a decent price in a secure parking area. We got a shuttle ride to the airport early in the morning, and they picked us up from the airport when we returned from our trip. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this establishment!

Not bad service at all and everyone is friendly enough. My big problem is that housekeeping is currently cleaning multiple rooms around my room and it is 11:25 PM at night. I am a very light sleeper and was woken up immediately when they initially started. I am now awake and can’t get back to sleep. This is completely unprofessional and ridiculous.

If you are running the Eugene Marathon on April 30, your room reservation at this property is canceled. By happenstance, called to confirm and was advised of this. So, I will never know what kind of property this is for certain - but suffice to say customer service is on the low.

I think for the rooms we had it was a little pricey. We did get a river view, but really not much to look at. There were a few spiders in our room (which my husband and I are deathly afraid of) lol. So, that was unfortunate, but all in all an ok room. The beds are comfy. The halls were mostly quiet. The hot tub is open and we were happy about that. Although, it's not hot. It's pretty warm, but not hot and that was disappointing! I was in a car accident and a nasty fall, so I really wanted a deep hot heat to penetrate that pain. The people were very friendly and welcoming. I think that's very important to have great customer serice and they executed that well. Everything you need is close by too. We definitely want to come back for our next wedding anniversary! Probably make it an every year occasion! I think that says it all. 😄 Next time we hope to book the king suite! Looking forward to that huge bath tub to soak in. 😌 Thanks for the awesome stay! 👌

Had daughter's wedding reception in the ballroom looking over river. Everything was wonderful... the food, staff helpfulness and Roxane, the Director, gave us just the right amount of support during the whole process! Thank you VRI 👍

Stayed here with a friend for 1 night in October. The elevators are small and outdated, hallways could use new carpet, and the room doors need to be pushed to lock correctly. The room itself, was nice, comfortable, and not too bad! Bathroom was spacious and updated, and the front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if I was in town.

Good location and nice size room (king), but everything else was just meh. The restaurant dinner came all at once after waiting 45 min for a table when we were quoted 20 min. Then after more waiting watching tables around us get their food in the proper order, ours came out with the appetizer, 2 salads, and entrees all at once. Our table was an 18” round. I was literally holding my salad while eating it. I the food was just ok; very basic. We would not dine there again. Our room had some issues. There was garbage underneath the sitting area chair which we saw clearly while sitting on the bed. Luckily, we got to it before our dog did. The entryway light didn’t work. The toilet was super slow to flush and required multiple flushes to clear the bowl. The tub had good water pressure, but the shower didn’t. The bed was ok; nothing to rave about, but not horrible, either. We received a text after checking in asking how things were. We mentioned the garbage and another thing, but no reply was ever given. Overall, it was just a meh experience. Additionally, I booked with AAA but my husband checked us in and didn’t notice any AAA consideration. When we checked out, he asked about the AAA and the front desk said it was too late. WHAT?!?!?!? He said he wasn’t allowed to. My husband asked nicely to speak to someone who could and he was told no one was available. Now, I’m changing my review to fewer stars.

This is an older hotel that they have tried to update, and the rooms have been updated somewhat over the years, but there is still the faint smell of smoke in some of the interior common areas. Upon check in, they try to surprise you with a parking fee. You can park 25 yards from the hotel in the mall parking lot and avoid that fee. My room was alright except for the bathroom (see the picture). Many people may think this is a locally-owned hotel, but it's not. It's currently owned by AVR Realty Company-- a New York real estate investment firm. This may be important to you if you're coming to town for, say, an event at U of O, and you want to support the local economy. Lastly, be aware that the hotel is hostile to any guests with CHLs. Firearms are completely prohibited on the property-- including in any of the guestrooms. This means anyone who travels with a firearm for their personal protection while on a trip is not welcome at this hotel at all. It's worth nothing that leaving an unsecured firearm in your vehicle may be unlawful under Oregon's new safe storage law. The management of this hotel does not allow guests to safely, responsibly, and lawfully store their firearms in the electronic safes of their respective rooms.

The valley river inn used to be an excellent hotel. I’m so disappointed. We arrived at 3pm and were told that we couldn’t check in until 4pm but they didn’t even check to see if the room was ready. They just refused to allow guests to check in early or really at a reasonable check in time (3pm). Then the room was so dated, the whole hotel was so dated. The balcony is covered with spiders and cobwebs, there were ants in the room and the food was horrible. Hopefully one day this place will catch up to the times and be the excellent place it used to be.

Clean, comfortable and quiet. While this is no 5 star hotel and it’s slightly outdated, it has great charm. Room was extremely clean, nice water pressure and A/C worked great! Had breakfast at Sweetwater and didn’t think it was anything special and lacked flavor. The pool area is spotless and even has a inside hottub. The staff is what sets this place apart, they are some of the nicest people! Would gladly return.

Great location. Old doesn't mean bad, it was clean, comfortable and the balcony was nice. The room was quiet. The hike to and from the elevator was long... The stairs were steep. I highly recommend staying.

This was a last minute business trip, and I was pleasantly surprised that they had short notice availability for an affordable price. When I arrived the woman who checked me in was quick, professional and friendly. I was given a map to my room even. I noticed that this was an older hotel, definitely "vintage/out of date" but at the same time it was VERY clean, GREAT location and my room had a balcony right next to the river! I will definitely go back.

I stayed here for a business trip and the staff was amazing. The room was always the right temperature and the bed was super comfy. Definitely go down to Sweetwaters at least once and get some breakfast, it’s really good!

Absolutely amazing place to stay. Customer service was amazing at the front desk and in the restaurant/bar. Housekeeping was very attentive and was always cleaning. The rooms were really nice and had a view of the pool. The only issue was the shower area could use some upgrades. Enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay again.

Very clean facility and groundskeeping. Spacious lounge areas and immaculate rooms. Covid-19 compliant. Handicap parking. Bathrooms are very clean speaking of the lobby bathrooms of course. The staff is very kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. And back in the late 7 years when Elvis Presley came to perform at Mac Court near autzen stadium he rented the entire second floor for himself and his staff only during his stay. I'm still crossing my fingers that someday I'll maybe get to see his ghost. This place gets an easy 5 ⭐s.

Was expecting a nice cozy lodge as the advertisements depicted. What the place really is, is a convention center. The place is huge, and one is expected to schlep his own bags, no porters. Restaurant was so so. Room was dated, and don't bother to pay extra for a river view, all you will see is trees.
