Perfectly fried halibut, thick chunky clam chowder. Quick and easy take out order. Thank you!

Fish and chips are great. Don’t bother with clam chowder. It’s often luke warm (not safe for a creamy soup) and most of the time there are no potatoes or clams. I’d be ashamed to charge $5 for a bowl of clam chowder with no clams. Edit on 9/26/22: I give up. I have asked to make sure there are clams and potatoes every time I get the chowder. Today there are plenty of potatoes - undercooked, almost raw, no clams, and it is cold. I’m done with Newmans. I notice they respond to positive reviews, but don’t bother with negative ones. Must not care to improve their products, evidenced by the torn up fish in my last order. Goodbye Newmans.

Newman's Grotto is one of two locations they have in Eugene. This location just serves food, while the other sells fresh fish. Food is overall pretty good. Service is always fast and staff is curious. The Coconut Shrimp is my favorite. They have grilled and fried fish options, French fries and Clam Chowder. They have soda and beer options as well. No vegetarian options. Parking lot is shared with a few other businesses with no on street parking.

Ate there yesterday. We had the fried Cajun oysters and the Rockfish and chips. The oysters and the fish were completely over cooked and crunchy. Teeny portions. Outside tables has not been cleaned and were gross. I’d think twice before I ever go back. Disappointed because they used to have fabulous food.

I generally don't like seafood so basically can handle cod and halibut. The cod and halibut here are fantastic! Thick cuts and the halibut really is the chicken of the sea as it had almost similar taste and texture but lighter. Mo's and some other coastal eateries can't compare.

I just had the very best Halibut Fish-n -chips I've ever tasted..thin breading and perfectly flaky fish made lunch amazing 👏. Can't wait to go back!

Only been here twice, the food is always good, Had the fish and chips. Not like traditional fish and chips, you have a variety of different types of fish, I chose the Salmon After you order its like 10to 15 min wait. I only gave 3 stars because the Gentleman that was taking the orders really needed a happy pill and some customer service skills. But other that that nice little fish house. You have inside seating or outside

The food is good and they have outdoor seating, but the area around where you order inside was noticeably very dirty. That is pretty unusual for a food place and it makes me wonder how dirty it is where we can't see. The cashier was very friendly. We got the fried cod and the fried salmon. The cod was better. I recommend the cod.

I've been to the other Newman's for fish and chips and other great seafood products scores and scores of times. This one is exactly as delicious! Try the salmon, have the halibut, savor the scallops. If you are lucky, they will have halibut cheeks.

Mostly get fish or shrimp and chips to go. Really good. They do have some outdoor seating, so might be ok to eat there if the weather's right. If I remember correctly, their chowder is good too.

Great fish n chips! I love how you can self serve tartar and cocktail sauce. I am guilty of going overboard with the tartar when eating F&C, so it works for me. There are also options for the style of fish (Cod, Halibut, Salmon, etc). My group had Salmon and cod and both were nicely prepared, and tasted fresh.

Loved the grilled salmon and rice. My companion had halibut and chips. Both meals were tasty and well cooked. Great value for $ spent. The restroom was not very clean. There is not a lot of inside seating. We had to go outside and bring in chairs. There was only one at our table for two.

Upscale fish n chips. Fast, clean, friendly. The prawn roll (grilled prawns, coleslaw) knows my name! A rare but delish special is smoked salmon and chips. I'll detour 50 miles for Newman's!

Best fish I've had, and the crunch was spectacular. From the cod to halibut if you need fried fish this is the place to go. And the Salmon was a new experience that will have me coming back for more.

Fresh fresh fresh. My Rockfish & chips was perfect. We ordered cod and halibut and a shrimp salad. This could have been a 5 Star rating but there was no shrimp in the shrimp salad. We took our food home so we could not ask for a credit. And our local family said this has happened to them before. Yes, we should of checked before we left BUT shouldn’t have to. However, be warned check your orders. Just saying.

Had very good food, I'm from coast of Oregon my sister was looking for seafood after a hospital visit. She lives in Florence were use to getting really good sea food this place is good especially for being in Eugene not on the coast. Had one everything on the side dish she liked it. I like my clam chowder and salmon. No place to set but out doors good thing it was nice day.

God fish and chips good. 👍 Thin flour powder big 3 cod fish. Grilled salmon good. All fish is not fishy smell. Best cook fish in Eugene! Not expensive price.

Best fish and chips around. The cod is fresh and without a heavy batter. The fries are pretty good too. The Cole slaw is somewhat bland but if you're wanting fish and chips I'm guessing that really isn't a big issue. Highly recommend Newman's.

Best fish meals in the area. This is my Friday ritual every week. My favorite is the cod and chips and their tarter sauce is the best around. Their skin on fries are just as wonderful as the fish. It's a little taste of the coast right here in Eugene.

Great service and chowder worth coming back for! The halibut and chips was fantastic-crisp and hot without being greasy. Also they have a great outdoor seating area (in addition to indoor seating) that is very pretty and perfect for these sunny spring days!

Love love love this place. We always get the cod and the salmon, with tartar and cocktail sauces. The fish is fantastic, always tastes fresh and the portions are consistent and reasonable for the price. The way the food is wrapped up in waxed butcher paper keeps it hot for a good while, so it doesn't matter if you have a longer trip home with takeout. The tartar sauce is simple but well made: thick and creamy, lightly seasoned, not too heavy on dill or pickle. Cocktail sauce is the same: good ketchup flavor and just the right horseradish kick. Cajun seasoned fries are good, but the fries are fine without it, too.
