Old library, where very few people actually visit (even locals). If you are fan of architecture and old books, you should visit, because of the atmosphere. But it’s not a great tourist point just to walk in, because here you sense, that this is the place for serious work/study and you should behave accordingly.

Oh what jewels to be found inside. This is a big library with 7-8 levels. It's a book readers paradise for sure! Entry is free. You need to leave your coats, umbrellas and food etc at the ground floor. There are free lockers. The building from inside is beautiful, with gorgeous frescoes. The library is spic and span and well organised. Many places to sit and read in silence. There is a cafe downstairs but didn't check it out. Clean restrooms. A week is not enough in such a place.

Fascinating! Felt myself as in movie. Really liked this place, definitely a good place to visit as a tourist! And could also recommend it as a place for studying, it’s pretty quiet there, and you can hide between bookshelves and enjoy your time there 🤗

Beautiful library with multiple floors to walk through. Free access but you have to leave your bags and coats in a (free) locker.

Everyone can visit the National Library of Finland and it's big. There you will find books in many different languages, most of all - of course - on finnish. Impressive.

The library itself was gorgeous, but the accessibility was dreadful. You'll find the sign directing you to the accessible entrance after you've gone up a hill, which wasn't even the bad part. To get in via the other entrance, you have to call via the intercom for someone to get you. We tried calling for 10 minutes or so, but no one came to open the door. Luckily I was with friends, and one of them went back to the other entrance to get someone to open it, but if I were to visit alone I couldn't have gotten in. I don't mind things like not being able to access certain parts because it being too narrow/having stairs because it was just built like that in a different time. But this just felt like something very preventable, so it really bummed me out.

The National Library of Finland (Finnish: Kansalliskirjasto, Swedish: Nationalbiblioteket) is the foremost research library in Finland. Administratively the library is part of the University of Helsinki. Until 1 August 2006, it was known as the Helsinki University Library. The National Library is responsible for storing the Finnish cultural heritage. By Finnish law, the National Library is a legal deposit library and receives copies of all printed matter, as well as audiovisual materials excepting films, produced in Finland or for distribution in Finland. These copies are then distributed by the Library to its own national collection and to reserve collections of five other university libraries. Also, the National Library has the obligation to collect and preserve materials published on the Internet.

Important for journalists and researchers but also a nice tourist attraction. You have to leave your bag and jacket to a locker, after that you can visit and see the astonishing architecture. Please be quiet as people are working here. Take pictures but discuss them outside :)

Huge library with an extensive collection of books. Truly amazing architecture. As with any library, admission is free and in this particular case it’s definitely worth stopping by.

Beautiful library to visit! Also great for studying cause it’s usually not crowded at all. Just keep in mind that you can’t bring any snacks or drinks.

Great, know that you have to put your personal stuff in a locker at the entrance, then you can walk through the library.

Highly recommend to visit the National Library! It's an interesting architectural building but there is also a great collection of books! And of course, a great place to study peacefully.

Upea paikka. Erityisen hienoa on, että kirjasto toimii täydellä teholla edelleen alkuperäisessä tarkoituksessaan työn ja opiskelun merkeissä. Tällaisessa paikassa luettu ja kirjoitettu teksti saa saman tein syvemmän merkityksen.

Beautifull modern building housing the Helsinki library with a roof terrace and several floors for reading, studying and even for games and podcasts. Autonomic robots move around to return books.

A huge and ancient public library in Helsinki. It is free for everybody to come and read books.

The National Library of Finland may seem like an odd attraction, but the library’s main interior hall is home to Helsinki’s most mesmerizing murals and also features magnificent marble columns. The pinnacles of the 28 marble columns are gilded with gold leaf, while the images and ornaments on the domed ceiling symbolize knowledge and learning.

A hidden gem in Helsinki city center. It's not as much beautiful from the outside as from the inside. Gorgeous finnish neoclassical and secessionist architecture. Admission is free, only a few tourist go inside, so it's a real experience.

The most beautiful library of Helsinki in my opinion. The building breaths history!! Anyone can visit and read the books, you should definitely pass by while in Helsinki. Located right by the side of the Senate Square and the Cathedral.

The books are really available which is not always the case in that kind of library. It is not the biggest but still feels quite important and I found the atmosphere really matching what you would expect from a library.

😐 Not exactly gourmet lunch but the free salad was fine. Service compensated for quality. As can be seen in the picture, it's some sort of Dutch national meal probably. The food took as much preparation as this review.

👍 A wonderful and atmospheric restaurant right next to the Herttoniemi metro station. There are 2 sides to this, a restaurant and a bar/nightclub. 😐 Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and slightly above average pizza (compared to the ones we had in Italy). The crust was good, but personally I prefer the cheese to be completely melted on the pizza.
