This could well be the best building in the world. It is a fantastic library that seeks to share knowledge with a different approach. The building itself is incredible. However, the best part is the inside. There's three floors full of unique spaces for everyone to learn. From music & video studios, to 3D printers, to chess boards, to children's playgrounds, to books, to conference rooms and places to collaborate. I read a review say that other countries should visit to understand how to invest their education funds and I couldn't agree more.

Truly a one of a kind experience. This library is so much more than just a library. Of course the book selection and reading section is amazing, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can find board games, you can rent music instruments, rent an editing studio or recording studio, use 3D printers, laser cutters, try your luck at sowing or crafts, print giant posters and banners, or even play video games on the latest gen consoles (yes, PS5 too), or even PS VR. I have never seen such an amazing library before. I am just heartbroken that I can’t take advantage of most of this stuff because I am not a resident of Helsinki. But that doesn’t matter, you MUST go there, it is definitely an eye-opening experience. The atmosphere is amazing too, especially during the winter, the library becomes a hub for everyone.

This is so much more than a library. It's a library reinvented. It's a meeting place, a co-working space, a studio, a workshop, a place for children, a place to relax, a place to have a coffee outside or play chess. I was blown away by the services available : from a sewing machine, to a 3d printer not to mention the studios to record music. In any other country, you'd never find these together in the same place. I just love the values of equality and justice that the library brings about. One feels home. I just wish we had this in Paris ! This model ought to be exported

Someone might say a library it’s not really a touristic attraction but this one is the exception. It did WOW me, I’ve got so impressed! The architecture is simply amazing but also the whole concept of a library. My second favourite place in Helsinki after the island. It’s a very must place to visit.

One of the best libraries I've ever been too. Great views from the upper floor, you can enjoy the sunset while reading a nice book. Also they have the middle floor for students to do brainstorming & mix together with all kinds of technology devices. I'll be back next time maybe even this afternoon. Lastly the entire building from the outside looks like the DNA Double Helix 10/10

What a beautiful and unique library. Architecture is amazing but the actual library is super cool. Lots of facilities. You can collaborate and study and do lot's of educational work here. A model for rest of the world's libraries

The most fascinating place to visit in Helsinki (apart from saunas) This library should be the acclaimed standard for other countries as a show case how invested money into education and services can benefit everyone in the city. Not to mention it's good for tourism too.

I have never seen a Library of this kind before. Huge space full of life! People everywhere enjoy every bit of space. 3d printers, game rooms, computer spaces, study rooms and loads of books, simply anything you could ask for in a library!

Such an amazing library! Books are enough, but they also have so much more! Games, 3D printers, a poster printer, sound proof recording rooms, sewing machines, etc. I wish I had a library with this many options near me!

The word " library" does not come close to describing the multiplicity of functions, services, and roles that this space fulfills. On the one hand, there are plenty of books, magazines, and journals as one can expect. However, on the other hand, there are spaces for playing board games, video games, organizing in-person and hybrid events and meetings, spaces to practice music, playrooms for kids, as well as cafés and restaurants to sustain the body and not just one's curiosity. Certainly, this is a must place to visit when you are in town.

What is there to say about this place ? Is it possible the most unique library I have ever seen in my life ? Yeah, without a doubt. The amount of things you can do here are truly impressive. Not to mention that they are basically free with how cheap they are. Things you would need costly maschines to do are available to you here publicly. For anyone following a creative hobby, this place is indeed a must see and mist do while in Helsinki.

Near from the train station of Helsinki. There is also a cafe on the 3rd floor. Just remember to have reservations first on other services they offer. Visit the website and you will know more.

This is definitely not the library you are looking for.... It's a lot more than that! Quite impressive 👍 Good job Finns 🇫🇮 ! At its core it's indeed a library, you can visit freely, rent a book, read it and enjoy it. But that's only a small portion of things that you can do here. I found just a few, but I believe you can: - practice your musical skills but renting a guitar🎸 - get your friends together and record an album 🎙️. Yes there is a full blown studio! - of you like to build something with your hands, then give it a go. There is an area and equipment that allows you to build something out of wood or even rent a 3d printer! - want to chill? There are rooms full of gaming consoles, just pick your favorite game 🎮 I probably missed something for sure, but I leave the exploration up to you!

Wonderful place to visit for fun and peace of mind. The architecture and interior design is amazing. The library have sound-proof rooms for study & office work, and game rooms for fun. Rooms can be reserved after getting a library card(Finnish ID is needed to get one).

Truly fantastic new central library! This building is a treat on itself, not to mention the outstanding set-up where the books in various languages (mainly Finnish, Swedish and English) are treated equally -- rather than being separated in different sections of the building. Plenty of nice hidden nooks for sitting down and enjoying browsing a magazine, making a start of reading a new book, or simply observing the hustle and bustle of the city. Lots of creative ideas for updating the role of libraries in the modern society, including maker's spaces, lending much more than just books and good IT resources. This truly is a library for everyone!

A huge library, Oodi Helsinki Central Library, has recently opened in the very center of Helsinki. It was recognized as the best new library in the world. Almost €100 million was allocated for its creation. This is a charming space where you can not only take something to read, but also just relax while admiring its alien design.

One of the most impressive libraries I've ever visited, it's clear why it's won several awards over the years. There are 3 distinct floors each with a unique purpose - from creating / building, relaxing and gathering, and of course, reading. There's a cafe area on the first floor as well for fresh food and drinks. Don't miss the robotic "helpers" on the reading floor!

One of the most exciting and beautiful libraries in the world. If you are in Helsinki you can't miss this place. Awesome!

  • 5/5 Lys L. 2 years ago on Google
It's such a beautiful space. Very modern and practical, but not cold. There are a lot of different areas, with cinema rooms downstairs, a café, sewing machines, reading rooms, 3D printers, recording studios, PC and console gaming rooms, conference rooms, studying rooms, lounge areas and of course, books! and activity/reading zones for kids. It's worth a visit and it's right in the centre by the train station too!

Wow. This place is an absolute gem. A beautiful modern building near a lake with floors of books, musical instruments, 3D printers, newspapers, a cafe, a restaurant, a play area for children and much more. Every city should have a place like this to act as a community hub and cathedral of knowledge and stunning architecture.

Amazing library. The architecture is simply stunning and very modern. I wish we had a library like this in London. Lots of quiet places to relax or get work done. The staff was nice and friendly. I will definitely be visiting again.

Simply amazing place. No access limits, 3D printers, recording studios, great architecture, board games, computer games. And naturally full of books, many of them in English. Tax money well spent.

Very nice place! The library is not only place for self-education, but for time-spending! There's kindergarten, 3D printers, irons, music recording studio, co-working space, etc. The most impressive is robots, who are accepting books instead of librarians.

A public library with a very unique design and offers many different unique services such as 3D printing and laser engraving for users. It's a good place to sit around and read or study. There's an outdoor area at the top floor which offers a good view to the surrounding.

  • 5/5 Santiago Nahuel C. 2 years ago on Google

Absolutely futuristic design. This building attracts the attention of any person. The multi-million dollar library features not only books but 3D printers, recording studios, gaming rooms, a small cinema, and other leisure facilities. Free to visit.

😐 Not exactly gourmet lunch but the free salad was fine. Service compensated for quality. As can be seen in the picture, it's some sort of Dutch national meal probably. The food took as much preparation as this review.
